Fun and casual cocktail bar that was great to pop in after a relaxing dinner. My husband was quite pleased that the bar staff were willing to make his favourite cocktail and I was quite excited (and had a trip down memory lane) once I had spied the Harry Potter inspired cocktail menu. After much deliberation, I decided to try the Dark Magic Martini and the Love Potion. Saddened that I didn’t go back a try the others the next night. Definitely one to remember and has a place in my top 5 favourite bars.
I was pleased to attend the media launch for the Mysterious Potions and Cocktails menu which went live yesterday. There are five signature drinks created to celebrate the arrival of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Melbourne.
The dry smoke theatre was impressive and really set the tone. The bartenders themselves were also extremely skilful with their magical pouring abilities. As a big HP fan I was delighted by how much effort had gone into creating these beverages that really reflected the books.
My favourite was definitely the dark magic which was lychee based with a little edible surprise in the bottom of the martini glass. Despite not being a beer fan the butterbeer was also quite tasty. I’d also recommend the love potion for a unique flavour profile, I still can’t work out what was in it!
Nice bar nestled inside the Intercontinental hotel. I went to try the new Harry Potter inspired cocktails, all of which directly referenced bits from the book series. My favourite was the butter beer, a delicious combination of butter rum, stout and ginger beer. The lychee "Dark arts" martini was also superb. The bartenders seemed to be really confident behind the bar, which made me confident in their ability to make a good drink. Worth a try if you're staying at the hotel or want to sample the special HP menu.
A great place after a show for at snacks and cocktails. The Long Island iced teas here would have to be up there with the best I have had around the world. Great service and lovely decor.

Start with a flute of Perrier-Jouët champagne and a lightly spiced scone with jam and clotted cream. Choose from the selection of fine teas (herbal and traditional), three tiers of savoury and sweet delicacies soon follow, and you are set for a very pleasant afternoon. The delicacies were all very good, with a special mention to the panko crumbed prawn and the chocolate brownie. Don’t feel like champagne? A stunning-looking espresso martini is also available, and we enjoyed a very refreshing mocktail blending cranberry, grapefruit and lime juice.
The atmosphere is refined and comfortable, service is excellent. A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
Great environment and intimate seating, had martini and "godfather ". Great selection of wine spirit and cocktails. Great for date and friends hangout
Staff were so welcoming and service was brilliant. Fast and hot coffee and food arrived within moment s of ordering. The surrounds were also very pleasing to the eyes
If it wasn't for the great wine and hot wealthy commuters, this could have been a disappointment. The Cabernet Sauvignon and the Pinot made up for the over-fried samosas and slightly dry arancini balls.
Came here for high coffee. Staff were nice and accommodating. Some of us didn't drink coffee but there were no dramas in changing the espresso martini to champagne.
We had the following (according to their menu):
1) espresso martini: nice, bit too sweet for me but certainly not bad. 4/5
2) smoked salmon bagel: good mix of flavours. 4/5
3) ham and mustard baguette: OK but baguette was a bit dry. 3/5
3) goats cheese sandwich: no idea what I was eating as goats cheese was actually quite mild ... Could've just passed for cream cheese. Bread tastes very sweet but apparently it had honey. Why? Just don't. I was very confused. Was it trying to be a savoury or a sweet? 1/5
4) savoury muffin: my first reaction was just "what in the world is this ...?" But the olive bits were quite nice. It was too sweet to actually pass as a proper savoury ... If they reduced the sugar it would've been a lot better. 3/5
5) prosciutto quiche: very nice. If the only thing they served was the espresso martini and this quiche I would've been quite happy. The asparagus tasted like chives though. 5/5
6) meat pies: very, very dry. But I have yet to try a mini meat pie that wasn't dry so maybe it could just be the nature of it being small. But still ... If it's not good, just don't. 1/5
7) fruit sorbet. I think we had a mango one but it actually tastes like a mix of mango and pineapple. Very nice and refreshing. 4/5
8) strawberry cheese cake: nice and quite rich. The chocolate pieces were a bit rough though. By rough, I mean it didn't taste like eating chocolate that's refined like a Lindt ... It tasted like cooking chocolate that they remelted into squares. I didn't eat more of the chocolate but the cheesecake itself was nice. 4/5
9) Black Forest cake: really couldn't have guessed that it was Black Forest. I honestly think they replaced it with another cheesecake of no distinct flavour ... Maybe even a bland tiramisu? 2/5
10) apple crumble: bit soggy but better than I expected. Expectations well and truly shot by this point. 3/5
11) pistachio macaron: very generous size. Baked perfectly although a bit too sweet for me but I won't penalise it for that. 5/5
12) scones: we had choc chip scones and chocolate scones. Very generous portions. By then we were well and truly full. Nothing wrong with their scones but you've got to try really hard to stuff them up anyway. 5/5
Ambience and service was 5/5 though. You come here for the ambience and a chance to be a little relaxed ... Not because the food is good.
Great place to hang out with friends and have high tea. Beautiful ambience, excellent service and lovely food, we had a really relaxing afternoon there. Amazing staff, very professional and attentive.

Espresso martinis are a dangerous drink, but super fun. Delicious and sweet, they hype you up while sneakily getting you tipsy. Paired with a mountain of yummy food - each sweet and savoury morsel small enough to pick up and eat with one hand, so you never have to let go of the martini glass? Yes, please! Hidden away in the Market Lane Bar, the adults only affair was a welcome twist to the traditional afternoon tea, and we enjoyed a decadent and slightly cheeky afternoon with friends.

What a perfect after work treat! Solid extensive wine list, good cocktail list, interesting selection of small nibbles, calm atmosphere and beautifully attentive staff - exhale the days stress relax and enjoy! Loved the potted prawns, old fashioned buttery goodness with a generous amount of toasted crusty bread, so tasty.
We came here just for a drink, loved the ambience and service. The drink list was extensive to say the least.
You won't find a better place to have an after work drink than this place. Beautiful ambience, amazing service and excellent drinks, what's not to like.
Afternoon high coffee was simply beautiful. Loved each little treat that came out. Decor was warm and cosy, coupled with excellent service.

A rooftop honey-themed afternoon tea...a suprising departure from the majority of underwhelming high tea in Melbourne...
A deliciously sweet afternoon tea with a twist, the event incorporated honey from the hotel’s rooftop beehives into the menu; a three-tiered stand of delicacies with honey-inspired champagne cocktail and Ronnefeldt tea collection.
It's your typical hotel bar. Full of big comfortable chairs and sofas. Really good Negronis, service is reasonable. A good spot to kill time or just to have a quiet drink with a friend.
Awesome atmosphere located in Rialto. Bartender that looked after us knew his stuff and engaged and entertained us. Would visit again.
