Fun and casual cocktail bar that was great to pop in after a relaxing dinner. My husband was quite pleased that the bar staff were willing to make his favourite cocktail and I was quite excited (and had a trip down memory lane) once I had spied the Harry Potter inspired cocktail menu. After much deliberation, I decided to try the Dark Magic Martini and the Love Potion. Saddened that I didn’t go back a try the others the next night. Definitely one to remember and has a place in my top 5 favourite bars.
I was pleased to attend the media launch for the Mysterious Potions and Cocktails menu which went live yesterday. There are five signature drinks created to celebrate the arrival of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Melbourne.
The dry smoke theatre was impressive and really set the tone. The bartenders themselves were also extremely skilful with their magical pouring abilities. As a big HP fan I was delighted by how much effort had gone into creating these beverages that really reflected the books.
My favourite was definitely the dark magic which was lychee based with a little edible surprise in the bottom of the martini glass. Despite not being a beer fan the butterbeer was also quite tasty. I’d also recommend the love potion for a unique flavour profile, I still can’t work out what was in it!
Nice bar nestled inside the Intercontinental hotel. I went to try the new Harry Potter inspired cocktails, all of which directly referenced bits from the book series. My favourite was the butter beer, a delicious combination of butter rum, stout and ginger beer. The lychee "Dark arts" martini was also superb. The bartenders seemed to be really confident behind the bar, which made me confident in their ability to make a good drink. Worth a try if you're staying at the hotel or want to sample the special HP menu.
