Firstly have to say it’s great to see the public supporting the hospitality industry but also the resilience and determination of the industry to come back strong (even in these challenging and somewhat still restrictive times)
Tipico is one such restaurant that didn’t rest during the pandemic, providing us with inspirational cooking master classes and food kits, worked hard on developing a new menu, and a little interior decorating
I first visited Tipico two years ago, and have to say that the food and service gets better with each visit
Though pizza is no longer, they’ve definitely invested a lot of time in their new menu including the fresh hand made pastas. I couldn’t fault any of the dishes tried
Bufalina fritta. Kingfish crudo. Calamari
Girasoli. Pesce. Verde. Cavoletti
Trouble deciding - just ask Marco and Gigi (jeejee) to help guide you through the menu
I also found out yesterday that it was their anniversary. In a competitive industry where restaurants come and go, it’s great to see this Italian going from strength to strength
Happy 2nd anniversary Tipico
Very modern and clean restaurant. Casual dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating available.
🍴ordered salumi misti, cured kingfish, spanner crab spaghettini, pesche e melograno and asparagus pizza. Highlight was the cured kingfish- definitely recommend . The spaghettini was smooth and silky. You could tell that it was very high quality pasta.
This place is amazing. The service, the food, the wine.
You cannot go wrong
arancini provolone | peas - superb.
calamari fritters | mint | lemon dressing | squid ink aioli - delicious
galletto spatchcock | grilled endive | buffalo parmigiano - there are no words to describe how good this was.
salumi pizza
italian tomato | fior di latte | ‘nduja | salami | ham | sausages - the meat lovers delight, only not full of fatty off-cuts but real hand crafted select cuts of meat.
This was just a sampling. Everything on the menu is to die for.
YOU MUST VISIT THIS PLACE.
Fantastic place, great food and service
For a romantic night out, Tipico is the place to go. The dim lighting really creates a cosy atmosphere. Further, our meals were amazing and our plates were devoured in full. I would highly recommend coming here for an amazing culinary experience 👍🏻
Really nice staff, the food was great and the wine was really nice. Would definitely recommend and come back. Really good value. I came with a group of 8 and they were very accommodating.
I came here and dined with my boyfriend after months of stalking their instagram and saying we should go! Reservation was for 7.30 (called and requested as online was only 6.30pm and 8pm) venue was very busy. Had the eggplant parmigama for entree, then the Pappardelle and one of the Pizza's for main. The eggplant parma was yum, the pizza was to die for!!! However the Pappardelle didnt blow our minds, we found it average, and we lovee our pappardelle's. I would still go again and do recommend going, especially for the pizza!
Intimate space on High Street serving delicious pastas, we had a kingfish crudo to start, then seafood risotto on special and the ragu - simple yet so good. Louie and the other staff are amazing, excellent service. Highly recommend for date night
Had a good experience here - food was tasty (especially pasta), service was really good, had good drink menu as well. I enjoyed my ragu pasta that was chewy with beautiful sauce. It will get quite busy so make sure you got a booking.
It was an absolute delight to dine here! The staff were all so lovely, and it genuinely made the dining experience so much better. The olives to start were delicious, with a hint of rosemary. The burrata was also paired perfectly with tomatoes and basil. I chose the pappardelle with ragu, and it was so tasty!! The homemade pasta was the perfect consistency, and the ragu not only had a wonderful flavour but also really good quality pulled beef. I will definitely be bringing more friends back here to try new dishes!
Tipico is one of my favourites. The beef ragu has a great depth of flavour with perfectly cooked pasta. My celiac friend said it was the best gluten free pizza she's ever had, soft and fluffy.
The staff are friendly and attentive.
We enjoyed a lovely evening at Tipico. The friendly and efficient wait staff were excellent and very happy to make recommendations. The food was beautifully refined yet still traditionally Italian and hearty. Great ambiance on the tables along the kitchen... could potentially be a little dark along the one wall, but perfect for a romantic date night. Will certainly recommend!
Stellar service and even better food. Started with a much-needed coffee to pick me up; Despite not even advertising that they serve coffee, the quality was just as good as any cafe. Started with a burrata and an eggplant parmigiana to share. The first was fresh and light and served with wasa crisps. The latter was one of the best eggplant parms I've had. The sugo was flavourful without being overly rich and the eggplant was a not overly fried and greasy, which was a nice alternative to what I'm used to.
As a main, I had the orrichiete. It wasn't as visually stunning as the starters, but the taste was all there. Paired with bites of the beetroot and goats cheese salad, it was a wonderfully balanced meal. I also tried a side of the green beans to share. It seemed as though they were missing the mint and toasted almonds, although maybe I just couldn't recognise them? Either way, this dish was the only subpar one of the bunch. Otherwise, great all the way around.
Beef ragu pappardelle was quite good, the pasta was al dente but I think it could have more sauce, it was a bit dry when I ate the last few bites. The veal chop was a bomb, it comes with a very appetizing sour salad. The meat was juicy and tender, perfectly fried with a crispy batter. Crispy outside, soft inside!
4.5 We are pretty convinced that there almost certainly exists no better pasta in Melbourne.
Tipico is so, so much more than just your typical pasta joint. For pasta lovers looking for a modern Italian experience that’s refined yet still holds true to their authentic heritage of simple and honest cooking, Tipico is a must.
A unique dining destination located in the heart of Windsor, Tipico ignites intrigue and excitement along this quieter end of High Street. Modest in its exterior, it is easy to pass by this glass-fronted restaurant and bar venue without so much as an inkling as to the gastronomical dining experience that awaits within.
Arriving on a Sunday for lunch, we were the only patrons in the restaurant the entire time. Although the undivided attention we received from the staff and manager was gratefully enjoyed, it did mean that we were unable to experience the vibrant ambience that I have heard of emerging in the evenings. No regrets though, as coming in the daytime enabled us to observe the beautifully contemporary decor and aesthetics that Tipico is known for. Sleek, stylish and modern are words that come to mind when seeing their marble benchtops and spaciously distanced tables, perfect for both small and large groups of customers.
Aiming to present a 'typically, untypical' restaurant, Tipico succeeds in delivering locally sourced Victorian produce in the form of traditional Italian dishes, recreated with modern flare and plenty of flavour. Don't go past the "Eggplant Parmigiana" when choosing antipasti to start with, nor the "Fior di Burrata" and the "Calamari Fritti" served with a squid ink (black) aioli, both of which are ideal for sharing (so you can save room for the pasta and pizza).
Pasta's are modest in number, but provide sufficient variety to cater to most tastes. Our pick of the "Tagliolini" with spanner crab, cherry tomato and chilli was a good recommendation from one of the bar staff, presenting a perfectly al dente pasta riddled with plenty of spanner crab interspersed throughout. Pizzas provide a bit more choice when it comes to toppings, and the house-made pizza bases retain a thin yet fluffy texture that holds its own underneath the potentially wet toppings, enabling you to fold your pizza or eat with a knife and fork... whichever way you fancy eating pizza, it's welcomed at Tipico!
The wine list is equally impressive, with both Victorian and Italian wines on offer. Whilst their cocktail list delivers well balanced sourness, sweetness, bitterness and depth, including their recently created concoctions which we had the pleasure of tasting before their official release to the public.
All in all, an impressive Italian restaurant that delivers a slightly different take on classic Italian flavours and culture, without losing the true essence of Italy, and Italy's love for food and dining.

There’s a new Italian joint in Windsor that’s just opened up and inside it’s so chic with very friendly staff. There’s plenty of parking around and if there’s one door but everyone seems to walk past and miss it. Anywho, back to Tipico, we were seated and then our little eyes scanned the menu began our comfort eating.
We came to this place hungry (as you'd expect) and we left this place over full, except we didn't even seem to order much food!
This place presents a modern and clean venue with nice dark aesthetics.
When you go, please do yourself a favour and order the Egg Plant Parmigiana. Presented almost like a lasagna it was an unexpected surprise, I won't spoil the experience but I reckon most people will like it.
We also got the Sardine Polenta as another Anti-Pasti. This was a cute one, presented like fish and chips it was quirky and fun dish.
The beef in the Pappardelle Pasta is well braised and packed with flavour. The beef just melts in your mouth, the serving may not look big but it was certainly enough.
The last item we got was the Prosciutto Pizza. Couldn't get enough of the crust, now i'm keen on trying the other Pizzas that they have for offer.
Overall, great date night and recommended. Maybe not for a first Tinder date as it can get quite pricey, but the food is worth it.
Twosheds was absolutely thrilled to be invited back to Tipico’s first birthday. We dined here a year ago at the opening - reference previous review - and we were so impressed. Since that time, we’ve been back here numerous times, and dined on the takeaway menu extensively. In short, Tipico’s star is shining brighter than ever in Melbourne’s dining scene. The first birthday menu was regional - we were lucky to experience the Piedmont menu. Vitello Tonnato, exquisite truffle ricotta agnolotti and Barolo braised beef cheek. Oh wow! It was superb. We ordered a real Barolo - the biggest, most powerful wine on the menu - to complement the beef cheek. The beef was rich, and literally fell off the fork into our collective mouths it was so well cooked. The agnolotti was best practice: al dente, nutty pasta with the exact and perfect amount of delicate truffle. Tipico desserts transport me back to Italy: the affogato and tiramisu are eye-wateringly good.
As usual, the service was friendly, attentive, efficient and just plain fantastic. If you haven’t been to Tipico, you’re missing out.
8 months earlier
Tipico is an ultra cool restaurant located in a
large space under a brand new apartment building on High St, diagonally opposite Mount St, in the up and coming part of Windsor. Open only 4 months, the fitout and vibe is amazing (we were advised by the head waiter that that design is by Studio Ole, owned by an up and coming young Swedish designer).
On arrival, the place was buzzing, reminiscent of the Italico restaurants in Portsea and St Kilda when in their prime.
Two sheds and companion were immediately surrounded by three different wait staff, given wine and water, and allocated a prime seat in the window. Two sheds’ dining companion (an architect) was impressed with the chic and modern fitout, particularly the bar (reference photos), and the branding. The adjective “stunning” was used in connection with the fitout.
Presented with the menu, we were seriously impressed. Modern Italian, but not too long as to be stifling.
The wine list is similar to the menu. A short, but impressive, list of Italian and Victorian wines. We very much liked the focus on Victorian wines. We chose an entry level Friulian Pinot Grigio: delicious and very Italian; dry is Twosheds’ favourite. We abstained from the cocktail list, which was also diverse, short (again) but impressive.
Our initial foray into the menu were classics: calamari fritti and kingfish carpaccio. Superb. The fritti were fatter than usual - we loved that - and perfectly fried. And served with a salad with an abnormal concentration of Italian flat leaf parsley. We have never seen black aioli before (infused with squid ink, amazing, but not salty or piquant enough for our liking). What a coup though - that Italian parsley adds a taste never experienced before. The kingfish (delicate and beautiful white fish) was accompanied by an amazing gremolata.
For main course, two sheds and colleague had barrumundi (superbly cooked in a tasty tomato passata), and an amazing, crumbed veal cutlet studded with fresh herbs.
Beyond this, we were having such a good time with the fantastic Italian wines on the menu, we signed off...really. But affogato and pannacotta here, you can only imagine!
The waiters were attentive and efficient: service fantastic.
This restaurant will become very, very popular. Guaranteed. It is already.
Thank you for the invitation to dine here.
Two sheds rating: 4.9
Imbuing a sophisticated, yet seductive vibe that Italians bring so well, Tipico adds Italian flair to Windsor’s bar and restaurant playground. A bold terrazzo bar, with dark olive tones, concrete and Italian leather, Tipico delights with classic Italian flavours made with Australian ingredients in a modern setting.
Labelled by co-owners Andrea da Como (DOC, The Lucas Group, McConnell Group) and Marco Scalisi (Ti Amo, Swillhouse Group, Tokyo Tina) as an ‘untypical, typical Italian restaurant’, the venue is one that embraces art and design, but maintains a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant vibe.
Came across this modern Italian restaurant over the weekend and what a good find it was. We ordered the Ravioli and the mushroom pizza paired with a few wines. The venue is super modern with the staff being very attentive. Can't fault Tipico and we'll be back for sure.
Great decor and absolutely amazing pizza! Been to a lot of pizza places but this one has to be top 3 for Melbourne for me along with DOC in carlton.
A good pizza is all in the dough and the Chef at Tipicp tailor make each dough with two different types of flour depending on daily weather conditions (if it's moist or dry day). Fancy~!
Ambiance was on par with a sophisticated yet simple comtemporary decor. Light pale color tones perfect for instagram bloggers.
Ample parking and price is reasonable. Would go again!

Great atmosphere and even though it was packed on a Saturday night the service was fantastic as it was the food. The pasta was cooked to perfection and everything we tried was delicious. We'll defenetly be back!
Really outstanding food and great wine in a modern bustling setting. I was blown away by the sardines with polenta chips, and the pasta with seafood. A real cut above your average Italian restaurant.
We expected Tuesday to be quiet, but Tipico was bustling. And for a good reason. The food was fantastic - try the sardines and polento chips, or the calamari. All the food was fresh - delicious pasta with vongole and mussels. And how about the wonderful saffron sauce on the spinach ravioli. The service was excellent too with appropriate delightful wines to go with our dinner. Thanks for a great evening.
Decided to try Tipico for dinner last night. Restaurant has a nice atmosphere and traditional Italian style menu. For starters we shared the arrancini and the zucchini parmigiana. Then for mains we tried the fish of the day (barramundi) with cauliflower, the mushroom gnocchi and the carrots as a side dish. Overall the food was pleasant however I felt like everything lacked seasoning. Would be happy to give it another shot though at some stage.
Had a great dining experience at the newly opened Tipico. Will definitely return. The restaurant was bustling and had a really great atmosphere about it. The fit out is stunning and the food was excellent - Homemade pasta ragu... YUM!
