My experience here was enjoyable. Zomato has mixed reviews but I remember first coming here at least six years ago and if it's lasted this long on the ruthless Melbourne restaurant scene it's got to be doing something right. It's definitely doing interiors and ambiance right it's housed in a beautiful old bluestone warehouse and the brickwork creates a lovely sense of homeliness. Nothing standout foodwise but pizza rarely goes wrong.
The food and the drinks were sublime. The whole experience left me feeling like a queen. Someone introduced me to Liven and I get to use the app in this resto. It did give me a $50 rebate! What a joy! By far the best restaurant in Melbourne
Meal was average. The pizza was cold once brought out to us and we were still hungry after wards. The food itself was nice though, just didn't have a lot of substance to it. The venue is nicely set up and the staff are very friendly!
Very elegant restaurant with great food and service. The crackling on the pork belly entree was delicious and the scotch fillet was also cooked perfectly. Will definitely be back again.
This restaurant was a great experience from start to finish. Soft music playing in the background, prompt service and excellent dishes.
I had the kangaroo and my partner had the risotto. Both made well, and good value for money.
The main hostess was professional and kind.
Would definitely revisit for a bite before a show or movie.
I believe this place has just changed hands. We enjoyed the pork belly and the steak highly. These dishes were served with a lot of attention to detail. We were made to feel special. It's a mature and romantic atmosphere. Special touches of fresh roses on a display table was a lovely touch. Beautiful building. The kind of place to take your partner be it a first date or an anniversary. Goodluck to the new owners :)
Great fine dining restaurant but little expensive.. Great service and their fries area superb! I ordered 3 entrees of crispy pork, quail and scallop.. It was delicious!
Had dinner here tonight and I have to say it was amazing, food, atmosphere and especially the service, my waiter Adrian was very attentive even though it was quite busy, overall it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
I've been here quite a few times over the last decade or so and the food has been consistently good (save an overly complicated dessert and the chips I had on my last visit - see below).
One overriding warning: the mains are quite small, so I strongly recommend taking them up on the "three sides for $20" arrangement, otherwise you might find the main course not filling enough.
On my most recent visit I had the baked lamb (four tasty but smallish pieces of meat) with the side of chips. They initially forgot the chips we'd ordered as a side so we had to eat them after we were already done with the main (this is a rare error on the part of this restaurant). My dining partner had the swordfish, which was reported as very nice.
Fortunately, the fish came with some lemon which I was able to use to give the (over-cooked and dry) chips some moisture.
My friend had the blueberry sponge for dessert. It looked like a bit of a mess on the plate (kind of what you'd expect if a sponge failed to hold together when being taken out of the pan), but was nice. I had the "deconstructed apple crumble", which was, as advertised, a small pile of poached apple cubes and some crumbs with vanilla icecream.
It's a nice place... perhaps slightly over-priced for the food though.
RNIS was invited to this place by Dimmi and this place is reviewed by Claudia who understood the meaning of fine dining. Bluestone restaurant is a fine dining place and its good for all the fine dining lovers out there. You do need to take your time with your dinner as service is quite slow. I recommend public transport as parking is a hassle.
Had a friends birthday here and I must say it is a very classy restaurant. The food was nice and elegant and best scallops entree in town. Cooked to perfection and very tasty. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant, overall very pleased
I really liked it amazing food great service will be back for sure. Best food I've had in a long time
Another enjoyable dining experience at Bluestone.
The restaurant has a cosy, elegant feel, the service efficient and friendly matched with beautifully presented, well flavoured dishes. The capsicum art work on the wallaby dish looked stunning!
Good value and vibes downstairs. We've eaten here a couple of times and the quality of food has been spot on. The tapas are particularly good value - 3 for $20 and reasonably sized portions. Most recently we had a prosciutto pizza and although it was delicious a quick suggestion to the chef - the meat was cut a bit thick. Having thinner slices of the prosciutto makes it melt in your mouth more AND saves money - win/win. Other than this a great experience with quality live music and delicious food!
Read the fineprint. To the people below who are clearly inexperienced with Groupons, the fineprint clearly states that you need to call up to make a reservation (and quoting that you are booking with a Groupon voucher). If they had done that, they would have been notified that the lounge area would be closed (especially if it lands on public holidays). I made a reservation using the same voucher with no problems whatsoever, and the manager who served us was incredibly nice and attentive. The place had a nice ambience, and the food was good too.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. I love the ambience of Bluestone and the staff were very friendly and accommodating (and even joked around when appropriate which I really appreciated). The food was lovely as well.
Fabulous. The staff were lovely, the food was really good and the atmosphere just right. We had a fantastic night and the staff made our evening celebrating our anniversary very special.
Loved it!. Went downstairs for drinks and nibbles with some friends. It's a good place to have a few wines and some pizzas on a Saturday night. Great food and great atmosphere!
We had a surprise 50th birthday party in their private dining area and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend the Bluestone to all. Great atmosphere, lovely food well priced and very helpful and friendly staff.
Went for my first visit to bluestone restaurant on Saturday night for a birthday. Must say I was very impressed with the food and service. Pork belly for entree was cooked to perfection and the duck breast main course was just as nice. Love the decor as the place was full on the night. To the young lady that was serving us you did a wonderful job to look after us . Will be back
Wonderful food. My fiance and I went here for my Birthday using a Red Balloon Fine Dining Voucher, we paid a little extra so we could have the selected wines with "each" of the 8 courses! Each wine and each dish was explained thoroughly to us. The waitress was so knowledgeable and made the degustation not only a feast to our eyes (and tummys) but also our ears!! The food was brilliant, we were both very happy! We were not rushed at any point and we would definitely return at a future date. We ate from the Spring Restaurant Menu.
Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Bluestone with a friend. Were we warmly greeted instantly by the lovely and delicious looking, Liam.
Our food was delicious and the atmosphere of the overall restaurant was nice and chill, just what you want for a relaxed catchup or romantic evening.
For entree, we had the quail with witlof which was just sublime. Main consisted of duck breast, which, although nice and delicious, had a streak of sinew going right through the middle which made the cutting and chewing of this meal, unpleasant. For dessert, it was the deconstructed apple pie. The tuile was delicious with beautiful elements of caramel and the apple chunks were soft and had the right amount of cinnamon, albiet, a bit dry. The pastry was nicely puff, but a teeny bit tough and that's me being super picky.
We finished the night off with a mix of Margaritas and a delicious Strawberry Vodka. Mmmmm!
Overall, wonderful food and wonderful service (Liam just made our night even more fun)
Highly recommend for any occassion and we will most definately be back!
Lovely place. Best wallaby I've ever had! Nice matching wine, nice atmosphere. I like it a lot!
Thoughtful, polite and efficient service, beautiful decor and lovely food. An enjoyable experience all round. Recommend the dark chocolate mouse and tataki yellowfin tuna.
Exceptional service and outstanding food. We loved this place. The stuffed calamari entree is to die for and the duck main is exquisite in every way. My partner ordered the barramundi which was cooked to perfection but it came with a sticky popcorn creation that I believe was an acquired taste. Dark chocolate mousse was wonderful. This place probably has the best service I've experienced in Melbourne next to Scholar's Wine Bar in North Melbourne. This place is a must-visit!
Will be back!. Second time we have been here and again not disappointed.
Ambience and service is impecable, food was delicious and some more flavoursome than others.
Special mention to our waitress Katerina, lovely, polite & was knowledgable about the menu, I was unsure about a wine so Katerina bought the Somelier out for me who recommended a perfect wine.
Have the oysters its their signature dish and superb!
Good food, wine and service. My fiance and I did the degustation here last year, and although some dishes were not as amazing as others, in general it was a great night out with delicious food, good wine and excellent service. I am waiting to come back here and maybe just order our favourites off the menu rather than do the degustation. A bit pricey, but worth it.
One of the few restaurant in melbourne , tath i enjoy a lovely meal, and great service. Thank bluestone rest.
Food was nice but didn't blow my mind. The roast potatoes were a highlight as a side dish
Senbloodysational!. I needed somewhere to host a corporate 1st birthday party for my employer who is a pretty savvy Corporate Advisor with a healthy array of good clients and associates. I found Bluestone on Google, went at met Jason McLean (the Manager with everything) and the rest is history.
Last night, 60odd really special people came together in the downstairs function room with an ambience to die for; beautiful wines, fabulous canape's and gourmet pizzas, and the spanish guitar player in the background, Matt, was sensational. Add to this Sarah "Director of Fantastic Functions" and Andrew "Events Esquire" and you would be hard-pressed finding a better venue that impresses in every way.
You all at Bluestone certainly made me look good for the venue I chose!
We are booking our event at Bluestone annually, and personally, I'll be popping in for a drink for sure...
Outstanding night! Thank you! Thrilled to bits!
Sincerely, Deb Weston
Excellent, we will definitely be back. The negative diner reviews on this site surprise me. We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Bluestone Restaurant, and I would highly recommend it . The eight course degustation dinner was unforgettable - each course was innovative, the flavours intense, the presentation excellent, and the wine was well matched. The service was outstanding - friendly, professional and attentive.
We will certainly be returning to Bluestone when next in Melbourne.
Very nice. Dined here last week and enjoyed it very much. Great service and the food was delicious. Even though we had early dinner booking there was quite a few also with the same idea so obviously a popular dining spot.
Wonderful staff, made to feel very welcome and the degustation meal was divine. Just the right amount for the price. Atomsphere a little quiet but other than that a really fab meal.
Pertty good. Had work function here. Calamari entree was absolutely lovely, followed by steak for mains - nice,. perhaps average for a place of this category) and some nice dessert. Warmly decorated interiors.
Lovely. Love this place, never have i once been dissapointed. Fantasic service by the intuitive staff and great food, prices are typical fine dining and worth every penny. Must give their Lamb a go, it is DEVINE.
Good wine selection, great dinner service.
In the interest of full disclosure, I will reveal here that I went to Bluestone on a voucher. That's right - I'm a cheapskate.
Moving on...
I wasn't sure what to expect when my partner and I attended for dinner on a Friday night. I'd heard the bad, I'd heard the good....
Our experience was excellent.
Firstly, the service was exceptional. Liam, our waiter was the most lovely and accommodating fella I've met in a loooong time, with excellent menu knowledge and a permanent smile. At one point during the evening I accidently spilt my cocktail - within seconds (yes seconds!) it had been cleaned up and another was on its way. Seriously, I don't think the glass even hit the table before it was caught in a ninja-like manoeuvre by a waiter that appeared out of nowhere.... Impressive!
Now... the food.
Let me state, that the moment Bluestone's pork belly touched my lips I closed my eyes, tilted my heard back and was promptly in food heaven. As I bit into the crispy, perfectly rendered fat I felt its salty juices as they ran and danced over my tongue. The skin was crispy, the fat was soft and juicy and the meat perfectly tender. Foodgasm.
My partner was in a similar state with his scotch fillet steak - tender, juicy and cooked to perfection.
Although I will admit that the food on the full menu does look pricey, what we had was cooked perfectly and extremely enjoyable to eat. The service also was second to none.
It's only a matter of time before I return for another multiple foodgasm.

Went here for a business lunch this week, very classy surroundings and the wait staff were fantastic, I had the pork with grilled watermelon and wilted roquette and wow just wow it was fantastic, my colleagues said the same about the fish an the eye fillet an I must say I did think the snapper looked amazing an was rightly told it tasted so. For desert I had the vanilla and pear sorbet a great light ending to a meal in a nice blueberry ganache but I wasn't all that fond of basil jelly but that's just a personal pref due to never really liking jelly anyway, will highly recommend and can't wait to come back.
Service was fantastic, food was lovely! The steak was beautiful and the chocolate mousse devine!!!
I'm not sure which restaurant Gill went to or what he was smoking, but we booked in 14 people, and the staff were really helpful. The food was great, and the staff handled two exta people turning up half an hour late with ease. I'd go back anytime to eat in the restaurant section. The degustation is fantastic and quite reasonably priced compared to other places around Melbourne. Give it a go, you won't regret it.
Absolutely fabulous. Had the degustation meal, every course was superb. Service was excellent.
