A must try Uyghur halal dishes. Food is fresh and delicious but can be spicy for people intolerant towards hot spicy food.
My Rating: 4.5
I was introduced to Ughur food by my Kyrgyz friend who loves to visit Dolan Ughur and claims its very authentic. I had never really tried Ughur and the closest I could probably relate to is Mongolian cuisine when I visited Mongolia years ago. Ughur cuisine is mainly lamb based so be prepared if you’re wanting to eat a variety of lamb meat.
🔆LOCATION🔆
Dolan Urghur is situated on Little Lonsdale Street, near the corner of Russell Street. It’s a small restaurant and it’s really not obvious and can easily walk past it without knowing. The place looks really dated with old paintings and Urghur carpet hanging from the walls. I suppose its keeping to its traditional
🔆SERVICE🔆
Very friendly and down to earth service from the staff. It was very homely type atmosphere and quite relaxed which was nice.
🔆MENU/PRICE🔆
Stir fried whole chicken pieces with potatoes and capsicum, $29.80
(special homemade sauce and noodles)
Cucumber, tomato and onion with olive oil and vinegar sauce, $6.80
Buns with minced lamb pieces (x 2), $7.80
Dolan Lamb skewers (x4), $11.80
Lamb and onion with black pepper in homemade Ughur pastry (lamb pizza), $18.80
🔆VERDICT🔆
There were 4 people and all the food we ordered was shared. I let my Kyrgyz friend do all the ordering as its her favourite cuisine. She introduced us to soo many interesting and tasty dishes.
My favourite of all is the lamb pizza (which my friend calls it a lamb pie) but on the menu its called the lamb and onion with black pepper in homemade Ughur pastry, Oh my gawd – it was soo deliciously tasty, I couldn’t stop eating it. There was soo much flavour in the meat and the pastry was lightly salty and crunchy. Yum!! I definitely recommend this dish.
The lamb skewers was also really good so much flavoured seasoning and definitely reminds me of the skewers I had when I was in Mongolia.
The huge plate of chicken pieces with potato, vegies and handmade noodles was another winner. The noodles was really nice and there was good flavours from the whole dish with the yummy gravy.
The buns was also quite nice but I could only eat half of it because there was way too much food (meat) to consume lol. It was nice to have a small side of salad just to break up the heaviness of all the meat. Overall a delicious meal.
Highly recommend in visiting Dolan Urghur with a group of people to enjoy more dishes to share as their servings are really big size.
Superb Xinjiang/Uyghur Cuisine.
Came for lamb skewers, and got a lot more!
Delicious Uyghur food! Spicy and tasty. The texture of the hand pulled noodles are springy, chewy and very yummy! Lamb skewers are also a must have! The place could do with a bit of a spruce but a part from that it’s all about the flavour!
Went here for the first time today as we’re always on the lookout for regional cuisine. This place was fantastic! Everything we had was bursting with flavour. Can’t wait to come back and try some other things.
As I don’t have much to compare it to, I cannot comment on the authenticity of the place. But there were a couple things that pointed towards its authenticity.
1) there’s a lot of lamb on the menu. I mean A LOT. If you don’t like lamb, you might not appreciate what this place has to offer. They could certainly have tried to cater to a bigger audience by offering more protein options, but I think the fact that they don’t might be a reflection of the cuisine itself.
2) the spicy things are spicy. Don’t order something spicy unless you know you can handle a good strong spice. I didn’t find it annoyingly spicy; I actually appreciate that they hit that level of spice, which is hard to find sometimes.
3) they use fatty cuts of lamb. Fat = flavour, and unless it is over the top fatty (which this wasn’t), I don’t mind. But again, if this is something that bothers you, be aware.
We had:
Spicy hand pulled noodles with lamb. Chewy looong noodles with a ton of flavour in the sauce
Lamb mince pie - mild lamb, flaky pastry. Packed with flavour
Lamb skewers - I could come back and have a whole meal of about 16 of these. So delicious.
I will certainly be back to try some of the other offerings.
Lamb skewer ($11.80) ⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️
Specially handmade long noodle ($15.80) ⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
🍴Tried this small cosy restaurant serving affordable and yummy #halal food from the Uyghurs, a minority Turkic group from Xinjiang. Would highly recommend the #lambskewer which is flavourful with its unique seasoning and tender meat. The noodles are all hand-made and of really good texture - chewy and smooth. It’s hard to describe the sauce but it’s based with tomatoes. Only criticism is that it can get a bit too oily. The portions are also quite big so would recommend sharing.

So. Much. Lamb.
A place that sells homely tasting food, you don't come for the ambience, you come for the honest taste of lamb (and cumin, gosh I love that spice).
Ordered:
- Uyghur bread topped with braised tender lamb: my favourite dish; the lamb was so soft and the sauce was great with it
- Lamb skewers - good ol grilled lamb, with the fatty bits that melt in the mouth, just like ones I've had in china. Make sure to eat it while it's still hot; it gets chewy when it's cold.
- Charcoaled lamb shank - personally wasn't a big fan of this; the nature of the cut means the outside becomes dry in order to have the inside bits cooked, and the flavour is very simple and stripped down
- Lamb and onion in homemade Uyghur pastry: the pastry is crispy and holds the lamb and onion together really well; it's a bit oily but it does taste pretty good
Portion sizes were pretty big - they're definitely generous with the lamb!
I’ve been homesick for a while and this noodle definitely cures it! They professionally present garlic shoots as the secret ingredient. I can’t say it’s 100 percent authentic but it does its job. Be extra careful when you eat it otherwise you will find greasy marks and spots on your clothes!
Noodle heaven. Lamb heaven. Spice heaven. Even pie heaven. The lamb pie was a revelation. This is good honest food that doesn’t break the bank. Bring some friends because the serves are huge. Decor is basic but none of that matters once the food arrives.
I had never had Uyghur cuisine. Therefore I decided to give it a try.
Because they advertised homemade noodles I ordered those with stir fried lamb, as lamb seemed to be the thing on the menu. The dish was quite nice, with lots of red and green capsicum, onions, potatoes and a few green beans. The lamb was nice and well spiced, but not with much chili. It was fairly fatty, but the broth was nice. Also it was starchy, potatoes+noodles will do that. It was a large meal for 16$.
I would go back there again, but I would probably order something else. The kebabs looked very good, as did a huge meat pie (enough for 2) a fellow siting near me ordered. Also the kebabs and a stir fry I saw came out with some interesting looking bread. It was a little like a roti, but it had seeds on it. With the stir fry the meat/and vegs were pilled on top of the bread.
There were a number of items that were appropriate for vegetarians such as a fungus stir fry. Also there were a few things which might not appeal to many non Uyghurs, such as lamb spine stir fry or lamb guts soup.
Uyghur cuisine , all about lamb and spice . Located driven lane a small shop , but lots of people dining . The customer service , honestly is great and how’s currently busy , waitress always given a big smile and served it , thumbs up . Secondly the food is great and tasty (if u like spice , definitely will love it ) , especially the noodle thumbs up not forget the yogurt thumbs up ^^ lastly the price is reasonable . Cheers
The name may be bold but everything else about Dolan Uyghur Food Heaven is the very definition of understated. It’s one of those establishments I wouldn’t have given a second look to, however one of my friends had recommend it. It’s one of her special lunch spots and I’m so glad she took me. Uyghur cuisine is a collision of east meets west, and it’s one worth adding to your dining history.
As others have mentioned, this restaurant is not the most pristine or attractive... but their lamb dishes are so well done and portions are crazy generous! Love the cumin lamb ribs and the lamb tripe stir fry. Be prepared to be inundated with a lot of spice, salt and grease from the dishes. Looking forward to my next visit - will order the lamb pastry that everyone else seemed to have ordered too!
Shish kebab was chilli and had a different pleasant flavour. Lamb shank on rice with cheak peas could be better. Lamb shank itself was cooked well but it needed to be slow cooked for extra 30 min. Rice was not as expected and tasted like it was made yesterday. We also had the mince meat pie. I loved that. No criticism on the pie.
The atmosphere could be made better. It gave me a feeling like I was having a meal at my grandmother's kitchen. Investing on the property will get attention.
It is pretty cool and special place that I have been to. I does not look like any other place that I have been to before. I enjoyed the noodle which is fresh and home-made by the chef. The sauce is so nice and the noodle is well-cooked. I really like the wrap with beef-and-veggie combination. That tastes good! One thing I am concerned is that they mainly offer lamb cuisines with very very few other options for beef or vegetarian. The spicy power is quite strong and ver hot and I could not continue other spicy dishes.
Consistently good food here. The lamb skewers are amazing! I prefer the rice over the bread as I found the latter a bit dense. The hand cut noodles stir fried with lamb with heaps of dried chillies are very good. Wash it down with a refreshing yoghurt drink and you have almost the perfect lunch!
Terrific casual cafe restaurant. I had a very tasty and satisfying meal here.
The name of the restaurant is intriguing so I did some research. Dolan refers to a people or region of what is now the Xinjiang province of China. The Uyghurs or Uygurs are a Turkic ethnicity who live primarily in the Xinjiang province where they are one of fifty-five officially recognized ethnic minorities. Uyghurs primarily practice Islam. Like many populations of Central Eurasia, they are closely related to both European and East Asian populations.
As suggested above, this is a relaxed and casual cafe restaurant. There’s nice decorative touches around the walls. Curtains, a hanging carpet, pictures and ornaments all presumably celebrating the Dolan Uyghurs and their art and culture.
Today, I tried stir fried mushroom with lamb and capsicum. The dish arrived at the table all hot and steaming. It tasted good with a nice dose of chili. I found it a beautifully balanced heat. Overall, this was really enjoyable dish and an impressively large serve.
I’m glad I stopped here. This is a good place complete with nice service. I would happily return anytime.
ATTENTION LAMB LOVERS!
Anyone who loves cumin spiced lamb skewers, this is one place you must not miss. For me this unassuming restaurant located in one of the laneways serves up the most delicious lamb skewers in the City. $12 for 4 skewers that‘s pretty reasonable. Plus portion size for their other dishes (noodles dishes) are huge too. Don’t expect anything from the ambience it is not one of the most attractive restaurants. Having said that no alcohol is also served as they operate as a Halal restaurant. all good for me.. i just wanna put that lamb on the fork!
Yes/no? Yesssss
The photo below is of the exotic lamb skewers, honestly I don’t know what they put on these and how they look them but they were amazing!!!!
Mind you, these were reheated and I still couldn’t fault these. They were the perfect texture and the flavours were so addictive. Loved every bite
Me and my friends wanted a quick and easy meal before going to the movies. This was my first time here and I would certainly be back. No it’s not fancy and no you can’t have alcohol but that doesn’t matter, the food is super tasty!
Finally, finally got to try this.
The expectations were met with flying colours.
I would come back here again, no doubt. Skewers were 👌
Perhaps a rice dish next time.
I've never had Uyghur cuisine before so I was intrigued about it after looking it up on Zomato. Did a bit of research and found out that it's a cuisine of the Turkic people from the Xinjiang province in China. The restaurant is small with 9 tables and the interior is decorated with some local pictures and rugs.
3 of us had dinner here..and we ordered the lamb skewers, Dolan handmade long noodles with stirfry lamb and veges, braised eggplant and the oven cooked buns with lamb mince. I thoroughly enjoyed the lamb skewers which was tender and juicy. The noodles were bouncy and chewy, but i wished the dish was hotter when served. The eggplant was yum!!...despite being quite oily. The lamb mince buns were just okay..stuffing could have done with better seasoning.
We also tried the yogurt drink..which was nice. Taste similar to lassi.
Overall, I had an enjoyable dinner here and i wouldn't mind returning. Quick and efficient service, and food didn't take long to come out.
Dolan Ughur is special. But I’m biased of course, as it is my favourite restaurant in all of Melbourne.
Dolan Ughur isn’t special because it doesn’t something amazing. It’s special because it’s one of the few establishments that serve Ughur food and more importantly, to serve ‘Special Crispy Lamb Ribs with Cumin and Onion’.
The interiors are a patchwork of Ughur oil paintings and general Chinese clutter. But the food is so utterly good that the distinct unpolished appearance is just works to its authenticity.
The lamb ribs are a must, a generous plate of seasoned, fatty, tender ribs with just the right amount of give that brings happiness to you from the belly inside out. The deep fried green beans are the perfect accompaniment, savoury, perfectly tender crisp. I always share a yogurt drink, if I can with a friend. Lightly sweetened, its yogurt, not Greek, or supermarket yogurt, but yogurt that can’t be described in any other way than natural, balanced and pleasant. And of course, steamed rice as a palate cleanser.
I think for a lot of places, to enjoy the food you've got to order the right thing. I think it's fair to judge and rate a place by their specialty.
So for Dolan I'm giving them a 4/5 for their lamb skewers.
Delicious, tender, well seasoned.
This place does look a little run down and dirty but the food is made with love by an elderly lady in the kitchen.
I ordered :
Beef tongue stir fry - 6.5/10 interesting texture no odd smell very tender quite enjoyable.
Lamb skewers - 9/10 sensational the texture was so moist and juicy and well seasoned. It was smokey but not burnt and the strong hit of cumin was not displayed in a powdery way.
Black fungas salad - 4/10 I think the flavour is different but to enjoy this dish you must like the raw flavour of white vinegar slightly diluted.
Oy lagmeni - 5/10 the noodles were well made nice and chewy. But the sauce/ flavour that it was served in was bland and lacking the kick that the other dishes had.
Yoghurt drink - it's self served and very enjoyable it reminded me of a frozen yogurt dish my grandma used to make.
Overall I would definitely come back just for the lamb skewers and the yoghurt drink. They were like a match made in heaven.
Special note : please empty your bowels before hand because the state if their toilets is something you'd expect from a third world country.
the place wasnt the most comfortable place to dine in but the fokd.were quite nice the lamb scwer and the chicken with noodle is probably the highlight here.
If u are craving for chinese and halal food at the same time, this place offers u very interesting choices. The lamb skewer is good, it does not really smell. I really like their ox tounge, very tender and tasty 😃👍🏻
This place may lack in presentation, but it serves some of the best-valued (cheap for a filling feed) Uyghur skewers and noodle dishes in Melbourne. The staff have grown friendlier over time, and on busy nights there is often a line or waiting time in order to get a table for a group larger than two. The yoghurt here is delicious if you have a palate for its sweeter taste, and it complements the spiciness of the meat well.
The food was absolutely epic!
Lamb skewers are juicy, spicy with hint of cumin and chilli. Must try!
The handmade noodle was also flavoursome.
Fantastic uyghur food.
The lamb skewers were tender and flavoursome. A good mix of meat to fat ratio.
The big plate chicken was huge. Very generous with the chicken. The hand made noodles have a great texture but would of been good if they gave more. Had to order an additional plate of noodles.
Service was friendly and accommodating. Asked to change one dish from lamb to beef and they happily obliged. Food came out pretty fast.
If you want to try a different style of Chinese I'd highly recommend this place.
This restaurant is conveniently located in CBD and is a small space packing some serious flavour punch.
This was our first experience trying halal Chinese food of Uyghur flavours. The decor is Arabic/Persian carpets and the menu tells a captivating story of the Uyghur people and their unique cuisine.
The cumin-spiced lamb skewers are juicy when fresh - we got ours spicy or hot. However, if you take the leftovers home, the meat turns tough even if you reheat. We also tried the Aqqik Korma Lagme Ni which are thick noodles stir-fried in lamb, vegetables and spicy rice noodles in GRAVY! The thickness of the noodles make the dish filling and a good lunch choice.
I highly recommend the freshly made noodles which are extremely different from store bought ones, and if you love a good spice level, this place is for you!
I'd usually order the same dishes here in Dolan, mostly because it's probably the best! 😋 I'd recommend the lamb kebabs, the #1 noodles in the menu, and the lamb baos. I wouldn't recommend the Ta Pan Ji (the big bowl of mixed chicken and vegetables) as it's really just bland and boring.
Mind blowing dishes!! I like the lamb skewers!! Yogurt was real authentic, exactly match the flavor with what Xinjiang yogurt in my memory. Place is small though.
I've been dying to try this place for a while now. I always walk past it during my lunch break. Constantly intrigued in what lies behind it's doors and imagine what the uyghur cuisine has to offer, having never tried it before.
Only renovated a few weeks ago, it was quite exciting to see what the indoor decor looked like. To be frank, walking into the restaurant, not much is really happening. Although there are a few interesting art pieces portraying the Uyghur culture, the most eye catching piece is the giant rug hanging on the wall.
The first dish we ordered was the stir fried potatoes with beef on rice. First of all, they are very generous with their proportons, nearly equalling the size of your typical Chinese main dish. The beef was well cooked and succulent in taste. But what set this dish apart visually is the distinct oily orange sauce swimming at the the bottom. Although not much is going on in terms of seasoning and flavour, the sauce is much lighter in taste than it looks.
The second dish was the pinched noodles with vegetables on soup. Again the proportion size of this dish was quite large, which could easily serve three people. The noddles were al dente and quite unique in shape and size. The broth was tomato based with a mixture of tangy and spicy flavours. There are also a lot of hearty vegetables to be found.
All in all, quite the average meal for me. Maybe it's because it's the first time I have tasted Uyghur cuisine or my expectations were too high. I will come again though to try the other lunch specials as they do have a wide variety of dishes.
Great value, tasty, quick service and generous portions. Ate Uygher food all over China and this is very authentic but better. Would recommend.
THAT LAMB SKEWER IS SO GOOOOOD! 😍😍😍
Full of spice, soooo tender and succulent! 👌👌👌
We also ordered the Yangyu Tohu Kormisi (no.31). The handmade noodles are good and I hope there were more in it. The potato is dry and felt over-fried. The chicken is tender but we got lots of bones and less meat. Unlucky maybe? My guy friends weren't even full after the meal.
Service is okay. The restaurant is pretty small so when the 4 of us came around dinner time, we waited approx 30mins for our table. But the wait was worth it for the lamb skewers! 😍😍😍
This little joint in a pocket of the city is pleasant. The restaurant itself is super average in looks but when you have to wait outside for a table, you know it's going to be good! The food was fantastic. The number 2 on the menu was the best!
Service is average.
We will be back because those hand pulled noodles are brilliant!
I loooove this place! The lamb skewers were so chunky, juicy and perfectly spiced! The price is good too! Omg, writing this review makes my mouth water! Check it out guys!
My friends recommend this to me. I thought it just in average level. I do recommend the lamb skewer and homemade yogurt. But other dishes are not that good.
Not a bad place for traditional Uyghur cuisine in the CBD.
The 大盘鸡 is pretty decent, as are the lamb skewers. They also have delicious Uyghur breads. Decent offerings!
This was my first time having uyghur cuisine & I did not know what to expect, except they use lamb in majority of their dishes. Which I have no issue with because I love lamb! The dolan lamb skewers were so succulent and well cooked (pink on the inside) - will definitely be back for some more. Uyghur pastry was splendid. The lamb combination soup was really tasty - even though I'm not a fan of heart, livers and lungs in my soups, I still enjoyed it very much. A popular item was their uyghur yogurt which surprisingly tasted really nice. Thumbs up to this place!
They serve traditional uyghur cuisine here but the flavour is not very good. The grilled lamb is very nice but the chicken is a bit tough and the potato is too soft. I recommend the yoghurt here!
Was really exicted to try uyghur food,
Thought I'd give it a try,
The lamb skewers where nice and tasty,
And the lamb noodles were nice and delicious,
The service was super quick.
Had tried their special yogurt,
Turns out it's nothing special, tastes just like normal Greek yogurt to me.
The place is very small, but nice and warm,
Service was super quick.
The waitress there could hardly speak English, lucky there were few customers who helped me translate.
Overall good experience.
Will definitely go back for lamb skewers and for trying out new dishes.
Love this place! They must have hired a new chef because their servings are very generous. Every time I sink my teeth into those lamb skewers my heart starts to race and my taste buds explode.
If their restroom was clean it would definitely get 5/5! But that hasn't stopped me from dining there! I just hold my bladder till I get my ass home!
Love this place when you order the right things. Some of the dishes are a bit 'meh' if I'm being honest so we always stick to what we know when we go. The yoghurt drink, with the lamb skewers x 2, the lamb cutlets and the handmade noodles (done any way) are a sure fire way to keep you satisfied. The food here is quite fatty though, so if you like five star mince or kangaroo, this ain't the place for you.
I've never had Uyghur food before so I was quite excited and intrigued when my friend wanted to take me here! We had the boiled lamb dumplings, tawa kawap, and the uyghur yogurt drink.
There haven't been many dumplings that I've come across and didn't like before and these ones here were no exception. You get 12 pieces for $9.5 which is a pretty good in my opinion. But just like what the other reviews on here said, the serving sizes are huge! When the tawa kawap came out, my friend and I just knew that we both wouldn't be able to finish it on our own. But oh man it was so goodd! I'm not much of a meat eater but those lamb chops with the turkish bread and sauce were too good to pass up 👌 My friend had highly recommended the yoghurt drink and I'm so glad that I had gotten that. It was a nice refreshing drink to have alongside all of the heavy meats and bread that we were eating.
Service wasn't that outstanding there but that's sort of expected when you go to a cheaper Asian place. You go there for the food, not the service. I hope to be back soon with more of my friends so that we can tackle on more of the big dishes soon hopefully!
This place is great for fresh noodles made on the premises, with strong cumin and lamb flavours. The serves are huge! Very similar to Uyghur food I had in north China (although I've never been to Xinjiang proper).
Dolan is a fantastic restaurant serving up fantastic Uyghur food. The food is so wholesome and great tasting that we've been going back ever since.
Although the dishes are a little on the expensive side they are quite large. The only thing I would say that needs improvement is their service (it's actually very bad).
9/10 = divine. FOOD: I have been to Xinjiang (where Uhghur food is from) and this place is as authentic as it gets! Highly recommend the lamb skewers (with cumin and spices - yum!), the chicken with potatoes (the flat noodle at the bottom of the dish soaks up all the sauce and it's hand-made), the lamb pancake and the yoghurt.
ENVIRONMENT: Small restaurant so limited space on a Friday/Saturday nights, make sure you book a table. We had to wait for 30 minutes on a Saturday night. Service is OK, nothing outstanding. The rug on the wall is stunning.
VERDICT: Been here three times and will continue to come back :)
Yum. Went here for dinner, ordered dish number 1 with beef the noodles were delicous. Unfortunately they had sold out of the lamb kebabs I will be back to try them food was cheap and the servings were generous. This was my first time trying Uyghur cuisine and I really enejoyed it.
Awesome yummy food for a good price and big serves. Slow service but awesome food
We go here all the time. Both the one in springvale and the city. Owner is a great guy and is really pumped how much we love his food. My fiancé and I went to chine a couple of years ago and the noodles there were amazing. They're made of wheat and taste more like homemade pasta than the package noodles you get most everywhere else. Well when we found this place let me tell you they're every bit as good as the noodles we had in the north of china. Get the skewers (lamb) but be careful they're hot (you can get no chille) and get get the number 1 noodle dish to start. Then if you've got a big group get the lamb ribs as well. The cucumber and garlic salad is amazing and so is the cold cut beef salad with coriander if you like it. I wasn't a massive fan of coriander until I had this dish.
Be careful the servings are huge!! Watch what comes out before you order. I'm not a serving size person more interested in the taste and quality but I feel compelled to warn because they're just so big.
I saw a couple of tourists order 5 dishes and they only got through 1 1/2!!
Quality of the noodles is mind blowing.
It could have been a "uy" bit spicier. For me, everything is political. When I see the word "Uyghur," I think of a group of unfortunate Chinese rebels from that ethnic group who were sold to American troops by Afghan warlords who claimed they were al Qaeda terrorists. Most of the Uyghurs were kept locked in the Guantanamo torture camp even after it had been proven they were not guilty because President Obama was afraid that American conservatives would accuse him of being soft on terrorism if he freed the innocents. So when I wandered past Dolan Uyghur, I had to eat there in their honour.
I had Oy Lagmeni, handmade noodles with lamb and vegetables. Dolan's fat noodles were properly chewy and they were diced into chunks, like hash-brown potatoes. I ate plenty of Chinese noodles when I lived in Vancouver, Canada but that was a new shape for me. The shreds of lamb were sparse, as were the minced carrots, onions and green beans in the red sauce. It was definitely a noodle-forward dish. I was expecting more of a cumin or Sichuan chile edge to the flavour, but that's what I get for NOT ordering one of the items with hot peppers next to it on the menu. If I ever go here again, I'd go for those.
Love this place. Handmade noodles are great. I love the dry noodles with beef. And the lamb skewers are so tender and spicey. I've tried the braised chicken with mushroom - it's like a middle eastern style curry. Try the yogurt drink too, it's a good way to give your tastebuds a break!
Highly recommend it. Not fancy, but very wholesome food.
Delicious lamb skewers brought back memories of eating in the streets of Xi'an. Fairly priced too.
I found this restaurant on the way back to office by chance a couple of weeks ago and wanted to try. Today our team of 6 had lunch there and were very satisfied with the food. The serving is also very big so some of us couldn't really finish. Will try the lamb skewers next time.
Love it!. My family is from Xinjiang in China so this type of cuisine is basically just home cooking for me. I've been to a few places where the food is quite average but this place is very authentic. Have been here twice now and ordered the Da Pan Ji (big plate chicken) on both occasions along with some lamb skewers. Had a great time and the waiters were very attentive and polite which is quite rare these days for Chinese restaurants.
Anyways, if you want authentic, affordable, delicious xinjiang style food than this place is highly recommended!!
A perfect mixture of chinese and middle eastern. Lamb is the speciality there, also provides good range of northern chinese cuisine
Great addition. Nice to see something a little bit different to the standard Chinese fare in the area. The Chinese/Turkish/Middle Eastern tag sounds about right, with lots of lamb options on the menu. Had the lamb shank lunch special, which was cooked with a spice rub and was delicious. The food I spied heading to other tables looked pretty good as well. Will be back to try the noodles (as recommended by the owner!) and the yoghurt drink.
I didn’t think I liked it much when I was there but I began to miss the clear noodles in chilli sauce and lamb skewers lately. It is not a restaurant where you expect to be thrilled by presentation or creativity, the key is that their dishes are simple and authentic.
