A must try Uyghur halal dishes. Food is fresh and delicious but can be spicy for people intolerant towards hot spicy food.
My Rating: 4.5
I was introduced to Ughur food by my Kyrgyz friend who loves to visit Dolan Ughur and claims its very authentic. I had never really tried Ughur and the closest I could probably relate to is Mongolian cuisine when I visited Mongolia years ago. Ughur cuisine is mainly lamb based so be prepared if you’re wanting to eat a variety of lamb meat.
🔆LOCATION🔆
Dolan Urghur is situated on Little Lonsdale Street, near the corner of Russell Street. It’s a small restaurant and it’s really not obvious and can easily walk past it without knowing. The place looks really dated with old paintings and Urghur carpet hanging from the walls. I suppose its keeping to its traditional
🔆SERVICE🔆
Very friendly and down to earth service from the staff. It was very homely type atmosphere and quite relaxed which was nice.

🔆VERDICT🔆
There were 4 people and all the food we ordered was shared. I let my Kyrgyz friend do all the ordering as its her favourite cuisine. She introduced us to soo many interesting and tasty dishes.
My favourite of all is the lamb pizza (which my friend calls it a lamb pie) but on the menu its called the lamb and onion with black pepper in homemade Ughur pastry, Oh my gawd – it was soo deliciously tasty, I couldn’t stop eating it. There was soo much flavour in the meat and the pastry was lightly salty and crunchy. Yum!! I definitely recommend this dish.
The lamb skewers was also really good so much flavoured seasoning and definitely reminds me of the skewers I had when I was in Mongolia.
The huge plate of chicken pieces with potato, vegies and handmade noodles was another winner. The noodles was really nice and there was good flavours from the whole dish with the yummy gravy.
The buns was also quite nice but I could only eat half of it because there was way too much food (meat) to consume lol. It was nice to have a small side of salad just to break up the heaviness of all the meat. Overall a delicious meal.
Highly recommend in visiting Dolan Urghur with a group of people to enjoy more dishes to share as their servings are really big size.
Superb Xinjiang/Uyghur Cuisine.
Came for lamb skewers, and got a lot more!
