A generous portion of gelateria, the cookies and cream was perfect. With chunky oreo bits and creamy consistency, the contrast in texture was a dream come true.
The seating is limited and outside of the store. However, it's always nice to walk down lygon st!
The hazelnut gelato here is amazing. Will definitely be back for more but for now ciao cuz
Speaking as someone that is violently lactose intolerant, the roasted hazelnut gelato is WORTH IT ALL. I keep coming back for it. Creamy, rich, that amazing roasted hazelnut flavour. Yes.

We were on Lygon for dinner tonight and given the soaring 28 degrees couldn’t resist a post meal gelato. The servings here are extremely generous and I appreciated the ability to try the flavours (I sampled four all of which were yummy). I settled on the peanut butter Nutella combination which was delectable and balanced it with a more refreshing mango. The mango itself was quite subtle but worked well as a pairing with the other more decadent flavour

It was lovely to be invited to the launch on Lavezzi on Lygon st. Living nearby to the original Eastland store I have frequented for the phenomenal gelato (originally licensed and since bought back). The latest and greatest, located in what I have always considered to be the home of gelato given the proliferation of Italian restaurants on lygon st makes all their deliciousness fresh on the premises.
It’s created in the traditional way and we were told how six generations ago the Lavezzi forefather used to travel up to Mount Vesuvius for ice to mix with coffee or lemon and create sorbets. That sense of history and authenticity really sets Lavezzi apart.
With high quality ingredients and interesting flavours combined with family recipes it’s the ultimate artisan gelato experience. My tip make sure you try the lemon it’s a classic made with real lemons imported from Sorrento
In a highly competitive gelato environment, lavezzi is pretty strong with its outputs. while i couldn't name an outstanding flavour, you won't leave this place unsatisfied. i'd come back if the flavour was right.

This is our favourite ice cream in Melbourne. Big call but they can do no wrong. Loaded with quality ingredients - not sugar or flavouring. The service is second to none. Friendly, attentive staff and I love that it is still an undiscovered gem! Once you try Lavezzi there is no turning back.
Just across the street from Pidapipo - This place has a more varied collection of flavours. I’ve tried banoffee (good balance of banana - not overpowering and nice and creamy), ricotta and pear, pink lemonade and panacotta. All creamy and the servings are generous. They’ve also got a fair amount of seating outside. Perhaps not as smooth as pidapipo but solid competition - without the lines!
Went there yesterday for desserts! Tried the pistachio flavor and it was GREAT!!!! I love the staff hahaha she was so friendly and she was very glad that I loved it. Yeah I DO love it!!! Definitely will comeback next time!!!
Not too far away from the famous Pidapippo, is Lavezzi Gelateria. While the former has queues out the door, the latter is relatively quiet, which is quite baffling as I personally thank that both places are on par with one another.
I got to try a few flavours and really enjoyed most of them. The Dark Chocolate was especially impressive, with its intense and bold flavours, while the Panna Cotta and Raspberry was a delicious combination of tart and tangy. The PB and Nutella was perfect for a Nutella fan, which on the downside meant that the over-abundance of Nutella overwhelmed the PB flavour.
All of them, even the Dark Chocolate that was a sorbet, were super creamy and smooth, very luscious! Friendly and kindly service, and there's no judgement whatsoever if you stand there umming and aahing trying to decide what flavours to get.
Very delicious and authentic Italian gelato. This family owned business has been making gelato for more than 150 years, we absolutely love their pistachio, bacio, strawberry and mango flavours! The sorbet was so refreshing, their pistachio and bacio were creamy and not too sweet! Their gelato is so yummy, will come back to try another flavours 😍

It's never TOO cold for ICE-cream!! Life is like an Ice Cream, you have to enjoy it before it melts. Checked out this authentic Italian Gelato shop on Lygon St for some delicious dessert. There is soooo many different flavours to choose from.

The ice cream is amazing here, I know how it can be overlooked on Lygon st, but the ice cream is so creamy (no icy crystals) flavourful and they have too many varieties to count. The staff are super friendly and bubbly, they seem to really care about their customers. Small number of seats inside, parking can be a nightmare, try the surrounding streets and just walk here.
In a market that’s saturated with so many great ice cream locations, Lavezzi does not disappoint. I got the pistachio ice cream and Gahd dayum, it was so good. It was really creamy and the pistachio flavour was so strong and intense. It could do with a bit of texture in the ice cream but it is fantastic as is. Would definitely come here again for ice cream.
Really pleased with the choice of selection here. They have some really interesting flavours, and the reason why I was attracted in the first place was because they had the Bailey & Chocolate flavour 🤩. I had the kids cone as I saw that the single scoop was huge!
Home to one of my favourite gelato! The sorbet also never disappoints. The matcha CNY special is one of the best I've had

Not only are they the best on Lygon, but they are also the kindest people I have seen for really long time. They make your day with their delicious ice cream and cheerful service.
