Work just around the corner and needed a quick feed. Looked tasty and fast so gave it a go. Got the Thaali, which seems to be the easy go to (3 curries, rice and bread). At the time of writing, $7.50 with refills. Been a couple of times and haven't needed to get a top up. All very tasty!. It is a cheap and cheerful place so don't expect table service. It does get busy during lunchtime. Give it a go.

Got sick from there recently. Luckily only a cold, and I wear my mask everywhere. Questionable hygienic practices here! The water cups which were served were dirty. Food is yum, but not going here again because I don’t want to be sick again!

Cheap may be but the experience was quite horrible. All you can eat menu is mainly just water currys and uncooked dough!!!! The place was not clean as well. Pretty much lost my appetite when the food came. Just did not want to waste the food hence had some. Pretty grumpy staff and service. Wouldn’t visit again. Being a born and raised Indian I know what Indian food should taste like. But unfortunately this was kind off a shame to Indian food.

I enjoyed the food and I had good customer service. I really enjoyed the fact that they also catered to my dietary requirements of having gluten free options. The all you can eat option at $7.50 was great value for money.

It’s my first time in Melbourne, I am from Singapore. Om Vegetarian is my first place for lunch such a nice and lovely food and great deal Awesome and friendly staff( Raveer, Simmi & Nav)👌 Can’t wait time come back again.

Good food at very reasonable price! All you can eat option is exceptional value. Can be tricky to find, just wander through the arcade and you'll get there.
Miranda Higgins
Food was fantastic and flavorful. It was nice to be able to walk in and know everything is vegetarian. They checked on us and offered more naan. We wish we had of eaten there at the beginning of our holiday. Highly recommended!! 😊

For their price of $7.50 for an all you can eat Thali, everything's super good!

Best value Vegetarian restaurant in Melbourne City.

Om Vegetarian is my go to for affordable and homely vegetarian Indian cuisine. Makki roti and saag is a special dish (corn bread and mustard leaf and spinach curry) which costs up to $18 for a serve in other restaurants. Priced at only $10.9 it is a real winner here. Also try the Samosa or Aloo Tikki Chaats for a tasty starter to share or light lunch if travelling solo.

Loved the concept. It brings back the beautiful Indian culture of Annaprabrahma. Good food at affordable price. Caters to wide range of customers across different countries, race and religion. Simplicity of this place is key to it's success. Best wishes to the team and hope to see them open more centers across Australia.

When I’m in need of a quick, cheap and filling meal in the city, Om is my go-to. I love the no-frills environment and the all-you-can-eat veggie thali for $7.50. Considering it contains curries, rice, naan AND mango pickles, the value really can’t be beat. For something slightly more “fancy", Om also now offers a few mock meat dishes which is really exciting. Their vegan desserts also aren’t bad. If only it were open late. I doubt that would ever happen, but I can dream.

The thaali all you can eat for $7.50 is definitely worth it. I really enjoyed the lentil curry and roti bread. The staff are friendly. I will return when in the city and hungry. Great vegan meal.

No Oms and ahs, it’s been a hectic week and that calls for some food delivery! I’ve recently moved houses and have yet to get some appliances so that means eating out (for better or worse) for the next little while. It also meant my first ever experience at Om Vegetarian. It’s been one of the cheap dingy eateries which never really appealed to me. I walked past it a lot. However in the delivery format, it gave us some good vegetarian options and some very good size serves considering the price.
Latitudes
Tepid watery lentils and a very salty vegetable curry tough roti delicious rice and no pickles made up our $7.50 thali special. Kind service. Won’t return.

Om is a chain with 2 additional locations on main streets: on Collins St and Elizabeth St. Review:

A $7.50 all you can eat buffet which sounds almost too good to be true!

Ordered:
🍱 Thaali Meal (all you can eat): 2 vegetables curries (v), 1 lentil based, 1 vegetable based, butter naan (vo), basmati rice (v), pickle ($7.50)

The curries are bland, basmati rice dry and butter naan strangely, has the absence of butter.

I didn't expect too much, especially at that price point but when you have amazing options down the road i.e. Crossways or Gopal's Vegetarian, Om Vegetarian simply isn't meeting up to standard.

What was nice was they came out from behind the counter to offer more naan bread. Smelling the strong buttery scent, I was keen to have a buttered naan but to my surprise... I could barely taste the butter off my second piece of naan. Incredibly confused and incredibly sad. 😔
Lavanya Shankar
Horrible food. ordered 7.5 and 11 aud thali. Nan was bad and curries were just ok. Rice was cold, partially cooked and was watery.

Eat as much as you can? Sorry couldnt finish watever was served in the first round.

Samosa and mango lassi was good.

I chose the Thaali Meal, which is now $7.50 - the restaurant is very simple but their dishes definitely delivers! I got two super delicious vegetable curries, rice and naan. The portion I would say is pretty big aka i couldn't even finish it and i am a BIG eater!! Definitely recommended.
Prof. Pinky@LunchLab
My score 4.0 stars. J picked up a TA thali for dinner from here last Wed 9th Jan, after Thai VB nearby had sold out of its specials. She got the $7.50 lunch special which consisted of: Pickles > discovered absent when got home 🙁. Basmati rice > huge serve 👍. Potato & green bean curry > was ok, but the spuds themselves were really salty. Chickpea curry > Quite nice. Butter naan > burnt on one side, no evidence of butter & was as hard as a rock 🙁. Too stiff to soak up the gravy, in the end we used it as (very) crisp bread for another meal (which worked - hate to waste food)! Overall > Service was ok, food was still very good value (problems & all) - would be a steal if eating in, as you can have seconds! BTW - best TA container we've ever seen (no leakage - seals like Fort Knox) 😄...
Kirti
Good value food that can be very popular so seating can be an issue. Food was enjoyable and courteous service.
will visit again for sure... :)

Friendly and helpful staff. The food is average in taste, but the quality and consistency is maintained. A good full nourishing meal which is extremely economical.
The tea is good. The Rasmalai was very good.

We saw the sign on the street and thought we would give it a go! We had low expectations but these were definitely exceeded! The food was so delicious and authentic to what we had in India!
MadaboutFood
This place deserves a 5* as its truly a must visit. Seriously its Australia's cheapest place for good food. The 6.5 thali is great for students or anyone who wants good food keeping price in mind. Few friends with me tried it several times generally this thali has potato curries and pulses ( any dal) and other items. I personally like the 10 dollar ones, great paneer (cottage cheese) curry always. Samosa chat must try! You can simply close your eyes and visit this place without any reservations in mind as it sounds too cheap to be true but trust me the place will surprise you with quality of food. But always keep an eye on hygiene things, we never had any complaints but still you have to be alert as in check plates, glass water etc. Enjoy

Sattvic Indian temple food. Reminds me of Ashram life in India. You get 1 Dahl (lentil curry) and 1 veg curry with rice, Dahl and pickles. I’m grateful that a little authentic part of the Indian experience has made it all the way to melbourne.

AUD6.5 and you eat how much you want. Well you can only eat more if the food taste is extra ordinary. Quality and ambience is OK..
By the way, who plays bhajans when people are eating??
Pocket friendly for all solo travellers.

I can’t believe I haven’t been here sooner?! Dirt cheap food and the quality and quantity is there. I had their lentil curry with some garlic and plain naan. Their Gulab Jamun was the right texture and tasted nice. Great for takeaway/quick bite. I question the cleanliness if I were to dine in.
Canuck In Oz
This is a place where I'll never complain about the food or service. What do you expect for a $6.50 all you can eat vegetarian meal. The service is OK and the food good enough to go back for more.

If you're hungry and quantity over quality calls them this is a place for you.

Anyone who complains about a healthy and filling meal for $6.50 needs to eat out more. I cannot think of a single place that offers better value for money (but happy to take recommendations). Yes, the food is simple. Sure, the service may not be amazing. Yes, every expense has been spared when it comes to decor. But c'mon... IT'S A $6.50 MEAL! All vegetarian, and the meal I had there was really fresh and tasty with great roti. If you want better quality, head to Green Curry in Bourke Street, otherwise this place will sate your appetite just fine.

Pathetic food. I was badly craving Indian food for 2 weeks when I went there (Mar'18) and was disappointed big time. The curries were tasteless and naan wasn't chewable. Strongly recommend against it (unless they have improved now)

If you are looking for a quick, cheap ,healthy and delicious meal this is the right please.!
The water is always warm...that's not good but anyway... for the price is okay.
Rolandmccall
Cheap and cheerful. $6.5 all you can eat vego. It's a basic Indian Thali like what you would find in India. The service is very transactional and decor is pretty basic but you get what you pay for. Food is not the most flavoursome but if you want to fill up on the cheap you can't beat this place. It's annoying that they charge 10 cents for card. Don't expect too much and this place will be good.
Emma Stevens
It's basically lentil curry nan bread and basmati rice. All you can eat. Sometimes comes with a potatoe curry and sometimes not.
The staff could be friendlier and the tables could be cleaner.
V3R0
I tried their all u can eat for $6.5.
Overall it's just ok for the taste of their curry. I am not doing the refill for the food, coz 1 serve made me full. Full of carbo, i think. Few rice, 3 pcs of naan, and potato curry

First of all we love this place because its fully vegetarian . Secondly because of the purpose behind their business.
The food is unlimited, mild and tasted home made without millions of spices which a lot of Indian restaurants boast about. It suits the taste buds of all age groups and is very light on your wallet.
The rotis are freshly cooked and lentils are abundant.

This place is our favorite destination whenever we have a huge crowd along with us.
Check Please
Firstly, you get what you pay for and for $6.50, don't expect silver service and damson serviettes. Do expect some pretty honest, delicious, filling albeit mild Indian food served without a smile. Recommend.

If you are looking for a budget Indian food in CBD, it's that place you are searching for.

We are going here almost 3-4 days a week. They have variety of foods, some street foods as well.

I tried lot of street food it's delicious .

Best street food is @masala pav.
For all working persons it's a good place for lunch,

Overall it's budget, tasty food outlet in Melbourne I found :)

Like a review said earlier, this place has no frills. Whatsoever. You come, eat and leave. For $10 all you can eat with an 'entree' and drink is pretty good and the food was edible. Sadly not got enough but somewhat tasty

Service was sharp and to the point and hardly a smile was to be worn, as well as the general cleanliness, which made the whole place below par. Perhaps a visit to the other places, but I wouldn't return here
Affogato Addiction
Quick cheap meal, all you can eat vegetarian curry, rice and naan. Probably not the type of meal you specially go out for but it's better than getting fast food when you need dinner in a hurry.
Rida Hakeem
I hate giving bad reviews, but. DO NOT COME HERE. Save your money and don't stop by. The food is unbelievably bland. There is literally no taste. Don't go.
ThE MOiStMaKeR
Really dirty place. Staff not very friendly and as mentioned by many others, “all you can eat” is super misleading. I found the food really bland and the masala tea I was served did not have a pleasant taste.

Ultimate North Indian version Jail food for 6.50 dollars

Cliched half baked NAAN and Half cooked basmati rice.. Some MASALA loaded either cooked in a place with their lentil gravy.. SOUP or gravy terrible...Horrible to explain about their curries..

Boiled up added vegetables overcooked like soup with no life in the food

No onions or salads

Filthy ambience and horrible tables..

Please avoid this food chain.. Thank you mates...

Really delicious for the price. Staff could do with smiling more but nothing too serious. Quite a lot of food for $6.50! This sentence has been added to fill the arbitrary 140 character requirement.
PeriPeri
'All you can eat' is a bit misleading. First off they made me wait for 15 minutes for my first serve of a precooked meal. This on a very slow day with only one other table having lunch. Refills, though provided were stingily served along with a dose of sour looks and reluctance. The food tasted good, but I cannot say that eating there was an enjoyable experience.

It's also hard to just say that 'it's cheap so you can't complain' when Crossways which is a few steps away is far better where even drinks and dessert are included for a similar price.
Sauvikhalder82
Most worse place to have your lunch or dinner. . Very unhygienic place, with MOSQUITO on my plate.and as well as birds are flying beside you when you will have your food. Worse experience ever. .
HungryHungryHomer
For the price, OM is a pretty damn good deal. My friend and I got the $10 deal; the mango lassi alone was well worth the additional charge.
If you come here, done expect consistently friendly staff. While the staff were friendly-ish, we felt like there was a bit of sourness in their attitude. I guess everyone has a bad day every now and again.
We were pushed out of the store well before the closing time of 9pm. This was on a Friday. Not sure why, but thankfully we'd finished our meals beforehand.
OM truly is a no frills, bargain joint. Will most likely return to one of the stores, but maybe not this one.
Caitlin Monnery
While I wouldn't call this the best thaali I have ever had, for $6.50 all you can eat you really can't complain. It's hot, tasty and nutritious. My only complaint is that last time I went there they forgot to bring me naan bread though by the time I finished my curry I was so full it didn't matter.
Melbourne Food Critic
I purchased the "all you can eat" deal:

PROS:
- Food was tasty and very light

CONS:
- "All you can eat" is misleading. Your first serve is with bread and a sweet. However, every other meal is just curry. This is misleading

- There's a rickety sign that says "up to 45 minute wait". Didn't notice it...had to wait 15 mins to receive a pre-made meal.

- Badly managed. Staff talking the whole time at the back, whilst waiting for my meal.

Would definitely recommend the nearby Crossways restaurant over Om.

Wanting to go to this place for a while now and so glad we were in the city and thought of it! Plain and simple meal but it was amazing! Especially for $6.50. Exactly what I wanted and definitely recommend if you're in the city.
Emy Jackson
Staffs are rude and ignorant, very dirty place .food is okOm Vegetarian...I ordered chholey bhaturey,it was like swimming pool of oil in my bhaturey..

Yummiest $6.50 meal I've had in a long time! For the price of an entree anywhere else in Melbourne, we had piles of delicious vego food- highly recommended!
Jessica Lam
Really worth the price you pay, especially if you like that type of food, the lassi drink was lovely and cheap. Service was efficient as well. On top of that, you get to top up your curries, bread and rice! Overall a fantastic option for work lunch. The only downside is that sometimes the curries can be a tiny bit salty, then again I'm glad I have this option for lunch since I'm a sucker for Indian or similar types of food.
Mr MM Smith
where else can you get full for $6.50? nowhere, except another Om outlet..it hits the spot when the tummy rumbles, food and basic, clean and wholesome..yeah, it's not the greatest but who's complaining when it costs nothing to have more?
Sakshi Nagpal
It was a nice experience,we were 4 and ordered 4 different things, everything was just okay types. Nothing so good about it. Liked the samosa .
Mycatbobbymcgee
Yummy, cheap and easy vegan and vegetarian Indian food. I always order the vegan Thali Plate which feels me up pretty good especially after the 2nd serve. For $6.50 all you can eat you can't beat it in the city!!!!
My Poppet
If you ever find yourself in the city tight on cash or really hungry (or both), you can do worse than sitting down for a tasty vegetarian curry at Om Vegetarian . $6.50 doesn’t buy you much these days, especially in the CBD, but for just a pocket full of change you’ll get: two Vegetarian curries, Basmati rice cooked with peas, saffron and cumin, Butter Naan and a serve of pickle. If you manage to finish all of that, there are free refills too! What a great deal.
