Excellent service, friendly and accomodating staff. Open this covid, as others are close or fully booked. Cozy ambience. Mellow music. Reasonable price. Good taste. Staff also explains the dish which is good.

I haven't been to a Shinbashi Yakiniku since September 2018 so I was really excited to taste test their special Valentines Day menu. The night started with some Japanese Sake upstairs at this restaurant and this restaurant takes sake to a whole new level. They have premium sake tasting, with 2 bottles of Sale only available at this restaurant in Australia. I like sake and they was a premium product. We also tried some sake cocktails such as matcha, which was soo yummy hahaha! And a range of other sake based cocktails, one with lychee which was great and another cocktail w boba balls similar to a bubble tea, which was delicious. One my my favourite sake drinks was the Sake Shiroi Litchi which was like drinking lychee milk. I could have drank this all night lol. Then we headed downstairs to try the Valentines Day menu. We started w some light Japanese salad and some edamame both of which were a great start. The assorted sashimi was magical, the fish so fresh it was almost jumping off the plate lol. The was soo good. Then the meat came out to grill, and this was very special. We started w Kagoshima A5 Blade, which just melted in my mouth when I ate it. And then we had the Australian Wagyu Deluxe Trio of Wagyu Short Rib, Wagyu Oyster Blade Premium, and Wagyu Marbled Beef. This was exceptional quality Wagyu Beef and the flavours of the meat and the juiciness, well it was really at another level. It was just perfect. Then we tried the pork belly and the pork jowl, both of which were superb. The quality of the meat was fantastic with all the pork juicy and tender. The Japanese scallops were light, bursting with flavour and a more delicate flavour to other scallops I've tried which I really enjoyed. Yummo! The jumbo ocean prawns were man size haha, and probably some of the biggest prawns I've seen. The meat was soo soft and it tasted like it was just plucked from the ocean, and just delicious. We had some boiled rice which was good and to finish we had some Japanese desserts of matcha cake and black sesame ice cream. Overall this was a memorable experience and probably one of my highlights for some time. I tried a matcha beer again which is amazing, it's almost like a matcha latte, but much more enjoyable haha! If you are looking for a special occasion to spoil someone on Valentines Day, to try this special menu, then this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. You can also have a pre dinner sake based drink, in a seperate bar upstairs at this restaurant too. My partner and I were extremely grateful for the opportunity to visit as an invitation, and I am honoured to be able to recommend this place as a perfect restaurant to visit on Valentines Day, or any day really lol.

We love a good Japanese bbq and Shinbashi Yakiniku delivered the goods!
They serve great quality meat and the service matched. The marbled beef and wagyu harami were so good, we had too many serves!
Can’t wait to go back and try their seafood and all you can eat offer!

The quality of the meat was great, especially the seafood, you could tell it was fresh. My favourite was the beef short ribs - super delish! The side dishes were great too - endamame and the salad were both delicious.

Located on Lygon Street is the beautiful and minimalist Japanese restaurant - it’s a great place for group bookings and I absolutely love the all you can eat offer they have Monday - Wednesday. We were seated in the private dining area with our own grills at each table. To start, we enjoyed some sashimi and other entrees such as edamame. Enjoyed drinking sake while grilling our own wagyu, pork belly, ox tongue. All so delicious and tender. Will definitely be back again - thanks for the great night and service.

Good value for your money, but the meat quality is not the best; however for the price you pay, I think it is a fair reflection. Got the wagyu set, didn’t feel like it was 360g, so my friend and I ended up getting more meat. Overall, i’d unlikely go for quality, but will go back if I’m craving bbq but short on budget.

This experience has to be one to remembered. From the moment you walk in you’re greeted with Japanese tradition and culture. It starts from the moment you remove your shoes, yes I said you take your shoes off. At first It was a no but as I realised it’s another way of embracing another’s culture I became more profound of the ideas. My family and myself all sat down for the $60pp all you can eat buffet which is set from dinner Mon-Wed. It is timed for 1 hour and 30 minutes, although it was plenty of time I reckon. It is set up to satisfy all your tastes and explorations you want to try throughout finding new dishes and experiences and boy were we satisfied. I wish I had taken more photos, but I was too busy trying to keep up with all the delicious cuts of “premium wagyu”, seafood, sashimi and other Japanese delicacies. all the different tastes and flavours blended well throughout the night whilst cleansing out my tastebuds with a couple glasses of well known Sake’ (alcohol). The atmosphere was a delight and the evening was wonderful. The staff were friendly and very humble in their interactions. Will be back, definitely.

A beautiful restaurant in Carlton specialising in high quality Japanese cuisine and BBQ. From the moment we walked in we were taken away on a culinary adventure.

We were seated in the private dining area where we took off our shoes and had slippers provided, adding to the experience. The service was exceptional and we were very well taken care of throughout the night.

Once seated, we were provided with a light broth made in-house to warm ourselves up from the cold weather. A very lovely start that also stimulated our appetites!

We then began with some edamame and kimchi to nibble on. The kimchi was quite different to your traditional one - it was quite sweet and refreshing, and not overpowering at all.

The sashimi platter was very fresh and there was plenty of variety. I loved the pretty plating too.

Moving on to the meats. First up was the pork belly and we were definitely off to a good start! The layering of fat and lean meat was perfect, and the crispy parts which were seared by fire were heavenly.

Then came the star of the show - the wagyu. We were spoiled with so many different cuts - from the Wagyu Deluxe Trio (marbled wagyu, wagyu short ribs, wagyu oyster blade), Wagyu Harami, and Premium Wagyu Ox Tongue. Every single cut was phenomenal, and the unique marblings provided a different experience in each bite.

After our wagyu feast, we filled up the rest of our stomach space with a hot piping bowl of nabeyaki udon, which was just what we needed on a cold winters night. The broth was flavourful yet clean and light, and the udon was plump and soaked up the flavours of the soup.

On top of all this, our feast was perfectly paired with some Dassai Sake - to complete the ultimate Japanese experience.

I would highly recommend visiting Shinbashi - it’s not one you want to miss!

Thank you so much for having me!

Loved the atmosphere! There’s two options while din in which is on the table with chair and the other one you had to take off your shoes. Price is $$$. The premium wagyu was 10/10 for as it melt on your mouth. Just pre book before hand so you wont get disappointed if there’s no table during your arrival.

If you are buffet lover you might feel that “All you can eat” is not worth the price ($60 per person) But, there are several things I like here; 1. Customer Service, I was only reading the menu and thinking what to order, the staff came to our table without calling and assisted us to order. They are really really attentive to their customers. 2. Variety choices of menu, even though it’s not as much as some place I have been, but it’s enough to order and customer don’t waste times searching what to order. Besides easy to read and I like when they have photos on the menu. 3. Locations and ambiance is excellent, nothing to comment. However, I have some feeling that wagyu from all you can eat is not the same grade with the a la carte menu. (Compared with menu photos only, and not an advice , only my feelings) Sashimi set is fresh, but the fish is very small and you can’t change anything in the set, it have to be served like that. The reason I gave 4 stars is that the overall experience is excellent but lack of enough wow factor (at this price). My recommendation is that providing a choice of drinks and a choice of desserts per person should be included in the menu (limit one per customer). I believe It’s not only make customers feel wow but the restaurant will be benefit somehow( I would be better not to say). Lastly I might not go back too soon but will definitely go back to try the a la carte menus later in the not near future.

This was my first BBQ experience and I really enjoyed it! The service was friendly and attentive, wait times weren’t long at all (keep in mind we’d booked a table), ingredients were of good quality and prices were pretty good for the value! We definitely could’ve ordered more because their menu is huge but we were happy with most things. Only criticism I’ll make is that the rice tasted ‘old’ - not fluffy or soft at all which was a shame. The small sashimi plate was tiny too, making us wish we’d ordered the large. However, overall it was great and I’d definitely come back!

We had the AYCE BBQ, overall was OK. The sashimi was tiny for each serve and they butchered the slices so much into tiny bits it wasn't really a good way to enjoy it. The meat selection was good but again, but too thinly and small slices. A lot of side dishes seemed to be your pre-made freezer pack food like croquet and takoyaki re-heated. Edamame was just covered in pepper, first time in my life I didn't finish edamame.

The cuts and variety of beef were excellent at Shinbashi. The wagu was well marbled and melted in your mouth. The place has a great ambiance and the staff were very hospitable.
