One of the best Laksas we have ever had for sure along with the lip smacking Wasabi Prawns! We were delighted to have each and everything we had ordered and were equally happy with the service.
We had ordered the Wasabi Prawns, Pork Spring Rolls and Pan Fried Pork Dumplings for starters with Iced Teh Tarik and Malaysian Iced Coffee to drink. Each and everything was delicious, specially the Wasabi Prawns (will go back specifically for this dish) while the pork spring rolls were amazingly crispy outside and loaded with tasty filling inside. The dumplings were really good as well.
We had ordered Chicken Laksa and Combination Laksa for mains and both the varieties were out of the world!
Special mention for the amazing service we received while seated upstairs.
Must try place in Melbourne if you like Malaysian food 😃
My score 4.0 stars (avge of 2 visits). J and I had our first lunch out post CV19 closures on Fri 5th June. Plenty of spacing and staff were good.
Nasi lemak w chicken curry ($13.80) – Flavoursome curry, plenty of boneless chicken, fried egg, good ikan bilis, no sambal (but really nice Achar made up for this).
Combination Laksa sans chicken ($12.80) – Tasty as! Great value, plenty of seafood but not much veg other than eggplant & beanshoots.
May 2019. Staff nice, nice plates, spacious, could get noisy when full. Small place, more upmarket than LK. You order via a touchscreen pad.
Peking duck buns ($11.80) - 2 smallish steamed buns. Nice duck – prob prefer trad pancakes. Overall, very sweet & prob a bit expensive.
Vego Laksa ($12.80) - Eggplant, Purple cauli, White cauli, Green cauli, Carrot, Tofu, Broccoli, Beanshoots, Snowpeas, Corn, Fried shallots, Mushrooms. Spicy creamy soup. Reg = Large is a big big serve & good value!
Fried Kuay Teow ($14.80) - Reasonable char. Noodles chopped and separate (nice). Beanshoots, Chicken, 4 prawns, Fishcake, Tiny bit of spring onion. Nice chilli level but no lup cheong. A little bit overpriced IMO.
Honestly, partner and I loved it! Just as good as Laksa King! Love that you got to choose the laksa sizes, I’m pretty little so sometimes the really big sizes can be hard to finish. Also must say some of the best duck I’ve had in a while. It was fresh and delightful to eat!
A nice and cosy restaurant. Same as laksa king but with more variety. Lovely staff.
The salted egg prawns were amazing. So crisp and flavoursome with the most juiciest prawns.
The chicken curry laksa is staple. Not too spicy and a generous amount of noodles and tender chicken.
Char kwey teow was nice and oily, well uncharred but the noodles were still hard.
Laksa King Kitchen in Flemington was super impressive when we visited with a bunch of friends recently. Everything was scrumptious with lots of bold, delicious Asian flavours. There was a wide variety of dishes in their menu.
Service was outstanding - polite, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. I loved the hanging plants upstairs which just added to the vibrant yet homey feel.
We had a range of hawker dishes. From laksa to char kuay teow to gado gado. The chicken rice was lovely and came with all the prerequisite sauces. Loved the 3-colour drink which was not overly sweet.
Laksa King Kitchen was everything we hoped for in a restaurant.
For something hailed as the 'best laksa in Melbourne', I was a little disappointed. Definitely a good laksa, don't get me wrong! But it wasn't mind-blowing, nor even the best laksa I've had - even Auckland has better laksa. Overall, a great bowl of laksa, but lacking a bit of complexity. Big portion though!
Seafood laksa: 8/10
Friendly staff and prompt service, also a clean and well lit restaurant to dine in. Great value with big serving size and fresh ingredients. The harmee came with fresh juicy prawns and flavourful soup whilst the curry laksa was a great combination of chicken breast, seafood, and greens in a delicious creamy and spicy curry soup just like how we prefer our laksa. Definitely recommend the laksa here!
Tasty!! Not as crowded as the other one around the corner but still delicious and the decor is much nicer here. Opening hours are a bit different to the other Laksa King too so sometimes if that one is closed this is a wonderful alternative.
Came here at 11:30am in the morning as I've walked past this place many times and not been able to get a table due to how busy the place is,
The prices are moderately cheap,
I noticed they do truffle oil duck fried rice, and tamarind confit duck after I ordered the combination Laksa, so I'll definately go back to this place to try these dishes out. The food came out quickly, within 10 minutes of ordering, and the staff are friendly
Best Laksa in Melbourne. Our favourite 💕
You cannot go past the king prawn laksa here. Nothing beats it and very affordable
Definitely the best laksa in Melbourne!
A visit to Laksa King Kitchen is of course incomplete without a bowl of their amazing laksa. The famed curry laksa is simply comfort food at its best, with a classical mix of vermicelli and Hokkien noodles swimming in a delicious soup base that is balanced carefully by coconut milk and curry spices. However, there is so much more to Laksa King Kitchen then just laksa!
Our dinner commenced with a few small plates. Each item was full of flavour and meticulously prepared. Of particular note was the Peking duck bun. We loved the wonderfully fluffy bao buns encasing luscious duck meat and traditional hoisin sauce and fresh cucumber. It was a thing of beauty.
Another crowd pleaser was the Lobak. The Lobak is a mixture of ground up lean pork, water chestnuts and herbs wrapped in a beancurd skin which has been steamed and then pan fried until crisp. The crispy beancurd exterior, juicy interior and salty-sweet chilli sauce makes for an excellent appetiser.
The satay chicken skewers were again, delicious. Tender grilled chicken meat skewers were slathered in rich spiced peanut sauce - nothing short of yum!
For the main affair the Tamarind confit duck was outstanding. Duck leg has been marinated and deep fried to a crisp perfection and served with umami laden coriander and tamarind sauce. It was simply delicious. For something lighter, the salmon fillet with Thai dressing is just beautiful – Pan fried salmon with served with aromatic lemongrass, coriander, chilli, lemon and lime sauce.
If you’re craving traditional Malaysian flavours then the Kangkong Belachan and Beef rendang will do the trick. Both these dishes were full-bodied and showcased the customary punchy flavours exhibited by Malaysian dishes generally.
The desserts at Laksa King Kitchen were also lovely. The Chendol was a decadent and textural dessert of green pea jelly, red bean, palm sugar and coconut milk. The Mango Pudding was yet another scrumptious dessert with beautifully balanced flavours. We loved the delicious addition of creamy mango ice cream and jackfruit chips.
Laksa King Kitchen, Flemington
Combination Laksa
The reputation of Laksa King is immense. I don’t know of any Melbournian that hasn’t been to or been told to eat at Laksa King. It’s a famous, famous restaurant.
It’s been a long time coming but Laksa King has finally opened up a sister restaurant just a few doors down the road. With the usual line out the door of the original restaurant we decided to head to Laksa King Kitchen. We were shown to a table instantly and given an iPad in which we ordered our food with. Of course my decision was already made, with the piping hot combination Laksa appearing moments later. As expected from previous trips, the broth of Laksa King is a delicate broth, would I say it’s fragrant and punchy when it comes to spices and herbs though? I don’t think so. It’s a very safe laksa in which I prefer dirty, strong pungent broths. That isn’t to say it’s a bad Laksa at all, it just suits different taste palates. The chicken is only the cleanest cuts from the breast here, again I almost thing it’s a bit too safe and lacks flavour and tenderness that other cuts may have. Special mention to the great prawns and eggplant in this Laksa though! I do think as far as laksa’s go this is worth trying but I personally don’t think it’s the best in Melbourne! Next time I’ll try the duck laksa.

First time trying out the new Laksa king kitchen, but no stranger to the original Laksa king around the corner.
Really enjoyed this place. Food was great as always and so affordable. Much cleaner look and you never feel rushed to eat and leave at this place.
Staff were lovely and helpful when it came to their ordering system on their tablets. So yeah, will be back again for sure.
The Kitchen is a step up from the regular Laksa King amazing as that is already. A great fit out and terrific service made this a slightly more upmarket experience with the food being every bit as good.
The cleaner sister of Laksa King is here. The recipes might be the same and the location is almost the same, but overall the experience at Laksa King Kitchen falls into the shadow of the original. But there’s pros: there’s no queue and it’s way cleaner and more spacious. My parents were back in town and I couldn’t remember if I had taken them to the original Laksa King. I still don’t know, but I’m leaning to yes. The wait on a mid-week evening at Laksa King is crazy, particularly so for a group of five. So feeling weak we waddled over to the shiny new Laksa King Kitchen. Apparently it’s from a relative of the Laksa King owner, and apparently the recipes might also be the same.
best laksa and cheap too! great for vegetarian/vegan too as their laksa has lots of different veggies and is so delicious. best in winter!!!
Cold weather , let’s try laksa soup , we decide come over Flemington new # laksa king kitchen , firstly the customer service is good , the waitress explains how using tablets for ordered food , thumbs up , secondly the dining atmosphere not bad new shop new renovation , thirdly talk about the food , everything’s is great and taste , why ? Because I can’t compare with the old shop “laksa king “ to the new shop ,and new taste more than fusion explained. Tasty thumbs up . Surely will
Visit again , cheers . Lastly the price is reasonable . Great place great food.
Will come back for:
+ Curry Laksa
+ Char Kway Teow
+ Duck fried rice
The food here is similar to the one at the main Laksa King branch just around the corner. But they also had more dishes that take more of a modern twist (will give these a go later). We went for the classics this time just for comparison and really can’t fault the dishes. As good as the other. So, if the queues are long around the corner, this is a fantastic option if you are craving for a laksa. Service was prompt and prices on par with the other site.
From the moment you walk in, the staff here make you feel welcomed. Firstly you notice the modern fitout, polish concrete downstairs with a really nice feel and upstairs is even better. The menu is much smaller than big brother around the corner but its offerings look great. We shared all our meals starting with the Lobak which was scrumptious. For mains we shared the slow cooked pork belly and the vegetarian Laksa with some roti. The vegetarian laksa is beautifully presented with its purple cauliflower, baby corn brocolli, carrots, snow peas, eggplant and tofu, and it had great flavour. The star of the night was the slow cooked 'melt in the mouth' pork belly served with sweet soy sauce and accompanied by carrots and broad beans, an exquisite dish. It will not take long for Laksa King Kitchen to become as popular as the original on Pin Oak Crescent. UPDATE: The Salmon with Thai Dressing is sensational.
So what's different between this and laksa king? This place serves all Malaysian cuisine, and you'll need to order through a device. haha.
We ordered combination laksa, kangkung belacan, four spice chicken ribs and cendol.
Combination laksa tasted similar to laksa king's (duhhhh) haha. The price point of laksa is cheaper here if you order a small. The other food tasted good nonetheless. Will definitely be back for more. 👍👍
When most people think of Flemington, they mention the racecourse or Laksa King. And there's a good reason why. Laksa King is simply amazing. Great variety of delicious Malaysian food and drinks at reasonable prices and big serves. Service is fast and friendly. Try their famous laksas which are perfect for cold winter days.
I don’t think I have to say anything. The reviews speak for themselves!! This was an efficient vibrant busy Tasty pleasant experience. The staff were 1000% helpful and friendly. The ordering process was not clear to me at first but after a while I saw how it worked and ordered in store but online. Very efficient. The food was first clean and really nice. I will be going back to sample as many items as I can. Overall a great experience and highly recommended
I dined here back when they opened and can only say it’s even better now. Perfectly balanced spices in the curry laksa. Nice little touches and hearty portions to fill and warm even the hungriest. Friendly staff. Quick and easy. Thanks for looking after us.
My work colleague Jack has rated you highly, so I was keen to try this place out.
I opted for takeaway as my colleague was on his way into work.
The Laksa Chicken curry was the recommended order, along with an added serve of rice.
Certainly enough food for two meals, but I did it in one.
The takeaway concept was add your sauce to the dish.
The noodles and chicken along with curry sauce were all a pleasant delight.
Good tasty food for a good price.
Order can be done via app and customer service is good, I am told.
Beautifully done laksa’s and a good variety of Malaysian food that you can choose from.
The place is always full, we went for a weekend for dinner and were able to get a table pretty quickly than compared to our previous experiences.
The laksas are delicious. The nasi lemak and the nasi goreng options are good as well. We have tried a almost all of the laksa options and vegetarian and chicken curry have been the best liked for us.
We like the nasi goreng as well, do not forget to request sambal to go along with this. Not a big fan of the drinks menu
Place to be in Melbourne for tasty, mouthwatering Laksa! We’ve been coming here for years but due to Covid and kind of living faraway, it really took us a while to come back here. I’m happy that the flavour of their laksa is still consistent. We always get the roasted duck laksa with extra eggplant and this time we tried the beef laksa which was really good as well! The serving of their laksa is quite big so 3 of us shared 2 servings but then again, if you’re a big eater 1 bowl of it will definitely make you satisfied!! 10 out of 10 Goodness!!!! 🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜
Yummmm laksa sooo good! The curry chicken with roti is also good.
If dining in, there's a limit of 1 hr so you pretty much eat and go! Service is quick and the place is pretty noisy as it's always packed, so not really a place you can sit and chit chat for hours.
