Hidden gem!
Food is authentic here, we love the tum yum fried noodles and nasi lemak. Both delicious 😋
.......... & curry puff is not bad too, just a bit too pricey (2 for $9).
Will defibrillator be back to try the curry laksa 😁
The food is fantastic and the place has a happy vibe to it. Highly recommended. We had the roti bread, spring rolls, and beef rendang. All the food here is good.
Utterly delicious fried koay teow with beef! Nasi lemak was alright - I’ve had better . Gado gado was really good too the peanut sauce was flavoursome and different. Really friendly team and they seem popular with take outs as seatings are limited. Will definitely return to try the laksa, fried rice and char koay teow. Cash only.
nice authentic food. cheap and staff are very friendly. kway teow very nice. laksa is good too. takeaway is probably nicer than earring in as it a small shop.
Such a hidden gem. Have walked by here so many times and never thought they did dinner. Grabbed both a chicken kari laksa and curry laksa for dinner between two and were really happy with what we got. Both dishes were massive and packed with noodles, meat and lots of rich broth. The chicken kari laksa had a deeper flavour, likely from the marinated chicken it came with. The curry laksa was more mild in taste but came with lots of flavorsome accompaniments. Service was really fast and ended up having some left overs as well. Will be back!
Good Malaysian food which sets it apart from all of the other cafes and restaurants in Newport. Flavours are good and service is always fast. Good for takeaway on the way home. Laksa is always good.
The food was super delicious but the best part of the experience is the lovely man looking after the counter and running the show there. He’s so inviting and makes you instantly feel welcome. People kept coming in as we ate and were all obviously regulars as they treated him as an old friend. He should know how wonderful he is and how he makes the meal all the more enjoyable! Thank you for the wonderful food and service.
Great local Malaysian in Newport.
Service was prompt and the owner is very friendly.
Cheaper dishes on Monday and Tuesday nights ($10 specials)
Somehow we've managed to not see this little gem for the year or so we've lived in Newport. Perhaps the place has been done up a bit and the orange light box sign outside is now noticeable from the train. Or we have just never noticed it. Either way, this was a great cheap eats destination on a school night. BYO and with a very handy bottle shop almost next door. We were dawdling through the menu when the charismatic owner came and offered to do us two different dishes. Clearly the man knows his stuff, and he certainly knows how to make patrons feel welcome, spending time working each table and getting to know the clientele. The food was awesome, and we are going to have to come back and work our way through the entire menu, although with limited seating inside we will have to act quickly as I don't fancy pavement dining come winter. I seldom give five stars but this was worthy. Excellent prompt service, a friendly proprietor, and of course fantastic food. I even recommended it to a couple of my mates who were driving through the following night. Hopefully they were just as satisfied...
Awesome food, clean kitchen, friendly service what more could one ask for?! Cheap as well..................................................!
Ordered Curry Laksa and Mamak Mee Goreng. Both hit the spot. Didn’t bother to take the photo, but this picture says it all. Taste like hawker style and very satisfying portion. Only imperfection is they only accept cash.
A very decent Malaysian feed on this side of town.
The rendang was rich, aromatic and lemak enough. The beef was juicy and tender.
The seafood Laksa was not too bad. Similar to the ones you get at the other Singaporean/Malaysian restaurants around Melbourne. The biggest difference is the size of the mussel you get! It's huge!
Keen to return to try the other dishes. 👍🏻
I ordered the Char kway teow, takeaway. Serving size was very generous for such a standard price. Quality was more than satisfactory.
It's a quite place to take the wifey for lunch or dinner.
Staff were polite and friendly.
Will be returning to try many more items from the menu.
Found this gem of a place via Google Map. The curry chicken and fried kway teow were authentically Asian and super yummy! Nice food for a very cold spring. Definitely worth the $10!
Absolutely delicious & the most down to earth customer service.
Nice little restaurant right near the station. The food was cheap and quick - perfect for takeaway if you live in the area. My potato & noodles could have done with more greens, but I have the owner that feedback and he said he'd take it on board for next time.
We had a great time here. Noel was the best host, our faces hurt from laughing and smiling. His suggestions were outstanding. I can't wait to go back and let him show off some of his dishes.
The 5 spice fish and the curried beef are a dishes I would do again in a heartbeat!
Amazing food combined with genuine and humble staff. Definitely dine in for bigger portions. Gado Gado pictures.
