Friday night had the set menu $55 pp. Food was excellent, Pinot Noir was excellent, service was ok, temperature was a bit on the chilly side, noise was buzzy enough without having to shout. Great value for money. Lovely local eaterie!

Bruno & Co is located on High Street in Armadale. The interior is beautiful, with some of the original stained glass windows & colourful artwork.

We started with coffees as we perused the menu. They had a few new dishes since I’d last visited so chose a few to share. As well as their brunch/lunch menu, they also have some great specials which change weekly.

The Coconut Chia was a gorgeous dish & we loved the presentation. The chia pudding was light & creamy & paired well with the crunch of the toasted coconut & macadamias. It was served with berry compote & fresh fruit & I could happily eat this dish everyday.

The Chicken Burger was absolutely delicious. Buttermilk fried chicken, jalapeño salsa, sriracha mayo, lettuce & tomato & super crunchy beer battered thick chips. The chicken was crispy on the outside & tender inside & we loved the kick of heat from the jalapeño salsa.

We also selected a pasta from the specials board, spaghetti with broccoli, broccoli purée, chilli & garlic. Such a simple but well balanced dish that was full of flavour. We washed it all down with some refreshing freshly squeezed juices.

The staff at Bruno & Co are friendly & attentive & seem to know their regular customers well. The menu covers all the bases as well as the weekly specials which keeps things interesting for those who dine there regularly. A great team who are passionate about what they do & genuinely care about their customers. Thanks so much for having us.

*Official PastaOnMyGooch rating without prejudice*

Things that tingled my Gooch:
-every pasta I have tried here rivals the top 3 pasta I have had in Melbourne and in Italy, trust the Gooch. Carbonara was majestic, the best I’ve had in the beautiful city you call Melbourne.
- chai latte is good, not excellent but better than most cafes
- friendly Italian service
- reasonable wait for food when your hangry

Things that left me scratching my Gooch:
- Nearly $30 for some flour, water, pancetta, egg, and Parmesan is like a free for all Sudanese home invasion
- Be aware armadale has some of the most uptight, self loving heinous humans going around. Expect to hear conversations on who has the best lip job and who’s Put on 700 grams after there trip to Noosa

Cheeky Gooch note:
- nice street to have a stroll, nice street to take DA MISSUS to scanlan
- outdoor seating available

The final Gooch :

Not typically around Armadale, but when I was invited in to this café I couldn't help but oblige! It was a very warm, enjoyable foodie experience.

Food: While usually I'm one to go for a less traditional brunch pick; this time I opted for the classic Avo Toast. The avo was fresh, ripe, and accompanied with goat's cheese, a poachie and rose prosecco cured salmon, it was delicious. My brunch partner chose the Special at the time, a fish burger which should be on the new menu coming up! The burger was delectable, a perfect portion, with a generous serving of crispy yet tender, flavoursome fish and crunchy onion rings as a small side.

Ambiance: The weather that day was beautiful, so we decided to take a seat in front of the café on some outdoor tables. Within the café itself were many keen customers, chatting enthusiastically while enjoying what drinks and dishes they chose.

Service: The service at Bruno & Co was definitely a highlight. The manager himself came out to greet and serve us, such a warm, friendly guy with a massive smile. He helped educate us about each of their dishes, the ingredients, the cooking and assisted us in making our well-loved choices. The drinks and dishes arrived very promptly and were presented well too!

Best soup ever and great coffee. I drive from the other side of town to go there for a food fix. Have yet to try the pasta. Can’t resist the soup. Great big healthy bowl full keeps me going all day. Feels like it’s made with love.

We were invited along to Bruno & Co for a Friday night dinner experience.

Vito the owner greeted us at the door and showed us to our table. The little restaurant has a warm and welcoming feel to it. With no menu, the evening's choices are on the chalkboard above the kitchen, and its all very seasonal mostly sourced locally, with the exception of a few home produce Vito has shipped in from Italy.

Our entrees were the School Prawns, served with a big chunk of lemon wedge and sauce, and a long plate of pumpkin Arancinis on a beautiful tomato relish.

Mains was a difficult choice as everything looked so good. We decided on the delicious Salmon fillet w/eggplant puree and the enjoyable Prosciutto Pizza.

Who can’t pass up a warm Chocolate Brownie for dessert?! Soft and gooey in the middle, crispy on the outside, and served with ice cream!

Thank you to Vito and his staff for making our dining experience a memorable one.

We thank Bruno and Co for having us. We experienced Bruno and Co as guests, and all of our opinions are genuine and are based on our experience at the time of our visit.

Note that thefo0die.com rating is a 4.5 but in Zomato's rating system, it is closer to a 4.

Fo0die dined as a guest of Bruno and Co and as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.

We normally wouldn’t venture to this side of town for a meal but because we were in the area visiting grandma who was in the hospital for her knee surgery at the time, we were in the area.

Lovers of Italian food - or just good quality food and service - will not be disappointed at this relatively new addition to the growing dining scene on High Street. Elegantly renovated, we loved the attention to detail in the décor and you can feel the love that's gone in to creating this restaurant, and there is a real sense of Italian heritage and soul.

Open for brekkie and lunch all week, plus dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, Bruno and Co use a mix of authentic imported Italian ingredients, and local in-season. The menu is modern Australian with strong Italian influences and they're happy to cater for any dietary requirements. The coffee is premium Lavazza imported from Italy and tastes smooth and strong. They're also serving up a delicious creamy Calmer Sutra loose leaf chai.

When we arrived for brunch on Saturday, we were warmly welcomed and the staff all seemed genuine and friendly. We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly the meals arrived at our table, considering they were quite busy. We ordered coffees and three brunch dishes, plus a couple of glasses of the juice of the day, which on this occasion was a delicious blood orange.

Breakfast pizza $21 - house made sugo, fiore di latte, fried eggs, shrooms and a rocket & tomato salad.
| The pizza dough is hand made on site and their secret recipe sugo sauce simmers for 8 hours to get it rich and flavoursome. The base was a great texture, not too dense and crispy on the edges. The pizza was bursting with the flavours of good quality, fresh ingredients and the perfectly fried eggs really made this in to an outstanding brekkie dish. The slow cooked sugo was the real hero - gorgeously rich in flavour and you could taste it in every bite. We also added a serve of San Daniele Prosciutto and would totally recommend it. Another high quality ingredient that really took this dish to another level. We would definitely cross town for this one.

Vegetarian Stack $20.5 - miso béchamel sauce, cauliflower, field mushroom, tomato & cucumber salsa, red onion, krispy kale and a fried egg
| beautifully presented stack of perfectly cooked veggies - the mushroom was full of flavour and held its structure well. There was a good balance of flavours with the salsa and onion adding a refreshing zesty burst. I loved the béchamel - with a gentle miso flavour and not too rich or creamy. The kale added an interesting pepperiness and a crispy texture. This dish wasn't too heavy and just filling enough to allow me to squeeze in an extra coffee! The fried egg definitely made this feel like a breakfast dish, but we think it would work equally as well for lunch or dinner.

Croissant French Toast $21 - with dates & walnut cream (OMG!), maple, pepitas, caramelised banana, crispy bacon dust
| A soft fluffy croissant from Noisette bakery perfectly accompanied by a big dollop of gorgeous mascarpone cream whipped together with walnuts. This cream is seriously, plate licking good. We were excited to discovered there was a sweet layer of crunchy toffee spread on top of the caramelised bananas (level up!) - and this along with the pepitas added lovely crunchy textures to the dish. There was just the right balance of each element so you could get a little bit of everything in each bite.

Bruno & co is clearly a favourite among the locals and had a constant hum of guests coming and going throughout our visit. It's a bit on a pricier side, but this is to be expected for the prime High Street Armadale location, and the quality of dishes they're serving up. If you need any more convincing to visit, happy hour is between 4-6pm on the night's they're open for dinner; plus you can get pasta and a glass of wine for $25 on Friday nights!

What a beautiful cafe to walk into! As soon as I went inside I felt a sense of warmth and welcome, the demeanor of the staff and customers were all smiley and made the vibe extremely comfortable.

The food here is based on simplicity and letting fresh ingredients sing on their own, which is a concept I love and also the type of food I essentially like to eat.

We ordered the smash avo- add bratwurst and boy was it amazing ! I loved the goats curd that was on there which was by far the most amazing thing I have tasted this year. The burnt lemon on the dish also lifted the dish from a smash avo to " not just any smash avo"

The calamari dish which was a special - but also appears on their dinner menu was tender and had such a natural flavor. Mixed with olives and tomatoes and capers , it was the definition of simplicity on a plate for sure

Lastly we opted for the poke bowl which was vibrant , fresh and also tasty. The salmon was cured just perfectly and complimented the ingredients perfectly

Overall I loved my dining experience at Bruno and Co and will definitely be back to maybe order a bowl of that goats curd

Fantastic ambience and friendly staff, it was very busy when we went so this place is very popular. The Lamb souvlaki is okay but chilli scrambled egg is fantastic, tried their iced latte which is not bad.
