The chilli lobster with corn, pipis and noodles was absolutely delicious. The chilli sauce was perfect To, not too sweet like some other places. To finish it off, had the durian pancakes.
During this time of struggle in Melbourne, Killiney delivered a very great meal. Hope they keep this deliver service after the pandemic. My new go to for lobster.
Had takeaway from Killiney and we ordered a few dishes to share. We ordered the char kuay teow, chicken rice, prawn and fish cake combination hor fun and the fried radish cake
The portions were reasonable and we really enjoyed the char kuay teow and hor fun. The flavours were good and i really liked it
The chicken rice was yums as well and it came with the different sauces and soup which was nice
everytime i miss the taste of original laksa, Killiney always be my first destination to go... their thick creamy laksa soup and generous toppings make my tummy (and heart) full, best choice when the weather’s chilly... a glass of their cold tea tarik to freshen up in the end..
Finally found something I like in killiney! Love the laksa and the fried fish was perfectly fried. It was very affordable at $11.90 for this menu. Would definitely order this again!
Great food for a great price! Set meals for $16 dollars, I eat here at least once a week. For $16 dollars you get an entree of your choice, a main of your choice and a drink of your choice. I always get the veggie spring rolls or Kaya toast.
The vegetarian menu is great also. The flat rice noodles is delicious and under 10 dollars.
Service is pretty good, and very accomodating to my picky eating habits.
Amazing service, friendly and great ambience to have an amazing Singaporean cuisine. Thumbs up on the delicious foods with the traditional taste. Just amazing!
Nice Singaporean Restaurant. Very enjoying the authentic Singapore Food, nice milk tea and kaya toast. Best! Service is friendly too! We will definitely be back again. Cha Kway Troy has a wok hey

I’ve tried the one in Bourke Street so now it was time to try this one in Carlton for lunch today. The special of $16 included five spring rolls and a laksa plus an iced lychee tea. Service was fast and although you have to order at the counter, mine was taken at the table. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the extra roti I asked for.
Food was good, although the spring rolls were bland. Laksa plentiful and not too spicy.
You can eat inside or out plus there is takeaway.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Parking is okay.
Went there on a Sunday night. There weren't many people, about 3 tables other than us. Ordered a mee pok and fried hor fun (prawn and fish cake). We got free drink coupons from school (choice between ice lemon tea or soy milk (we asked for no ice )), so we got two cups of soy milk for free :).
Service was alright. Food came quick, and the taste was alright. Nothing too special, flavour was alright.
However, the portion was huge for me, so I struggled to finish my food. Asked my SO to finish it for me at the end 😂.
It's a good remedy when you miss home. ☺️
Highly recommended!! I am from singapore. After few days here, miss home food. So tried the horfun and mee goreng. Shocked...it taste even better than spore!! Thumbs up!! Would come back again esp for the horfun!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Was here for a lunch with my buddies and amazed that the food taste just like the one I had in Singapore, I may even say they taste better here. All in all, it's a great place to have a full meal or just to hang out and have lite bites.
Was walking on lygon st on a weekday with a friend and we thought of trying it for late night dinner, the service was really quick, we ordered the chicken noodles and roti with curry chicken, the curry chicken was one of the best I have tried in Melbourne and the rotis were perfect and flaky, a good find have to go again and try the other ones on the menu
Originally from Singapore, Killiney serves lots of local Singaporean delights. The name is a mainstay in Singapore, so expectations are understandably high when they expanded here. The food is somewhat authentic in taste but does lack some depth that makes it stand out. The roti prata with curry chicken is quite nice and for just over $10 you get 3 medium pieces of prata, which in my opinion is much better than what you'd get from Papparich. The fried (char) kuay teow is decent but does lack a bit of wok taste.
Overall it's a good option for a city that otherwise still lacks authentic Singaporean cuisine, and should satisfy Singaporeans craving their local delights, but is not amazing and probably wouldn't cut it in Singapore.
I was absolutely starving when I went in and oh my goodness the food was so good, and service was phenomenally friendly. Atmosphere is casual and comfy + the prices! Wow! Haha I'm going to have to come here more often!!!!
Friendly service. Nice casual place. Crispy roti with satay sauce. Generous amount of fried Kway teow. Yummy sweet teh tarik. Good hearty authentic Singaporean food.
A choice destination for lunch close by the university. Service is quick and the food authentic. I have native Singaporean friends who approve of this place.
Beef nasi lemak: The combination of flavoursome slow-cooked beef, crispy anchovies, peanuts, sambal sauce and coconut rice is a definite winner. There is potential for a greater amount of sambal sauce.
Overall a place I can definitely see myself becoming a regular at.
Hate here(keep smile)very horrible service. They asked me about when the dessert shall be served, and I said before the meal, now I am still waiting for that as almost 1 hour passed... after all, I am not happy because it is not busy at all!
Nasi lemak: bland rice, a bit dry. Rendang was just okay, nothing like the real deal. Sambal can definitely be spicier.
Soft shell crab laksa: no depth of flavor, although the crab itself is goos.
Carrot cake: my first time trying without knowing what it was. Quite pleasant and interesting texture. The sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) definitely stands out as it is caramelized.
Overall: big portion, cheap, might be just okay for fixing your tastebud for a taste of home
Great food. Have to pay upfront when ordering. Loved the milo dinosaur. Brings back my childhood, lol.
Will go back
Nasi lemak 👌
Didnot like the fish balls.
Love the value. Cheap eats
Very authentic Singaporean tastes. The satay was good with just the right amount of kick, service was quick and effective, was a little strange that we could not order rice as "it was not on today" but generally good.
Ordered take away from this place. The food and packaging was great. Nothing spilled and everything was well made. I ordered the nasi lemak combo which has fried fish and curry chicken and it tasted pretty authenric to malaysian nasi lemak. However theres a lack of ikan bilis and nut, would have love it if they could add more next time. The meepok is a let down. The spice overpowered everything and the were too many veggies in them when the dish is meant to be mainly fishball and noodles. So i would say avoid meepok. Overall, this place is good for malaysian cruisine. Will be ordering from them again to try other dishes.
This Singapore export that has made its way to Melbourne. Their Lygon Street outlet feels like a traditional Singapore eatery with its busy but charming interior. If you want affordable Singaporean fare (char kuay teow, roti, chicken curry, nasi goreng) then this is definitely the place to go. You'll feel like you're in Singapore. Their $15 lunch meal deal is very good value (starter main and a drink). It's on the 'arse' end of Lygon Street so it's not somewhere you'd stumble across unless you worked or lived in the local area.
Comfort food reminiscent of school canteen yummy mee rebus is a must try . Portion of takeaway Beef Rendang rice was generous and well worth the $9.50. Fried Prawn Noodles had very thin vermicelli which ended very soggy by the time I got home an hour later.Soft shell crab laksa tastes so good as the laksa soup was tasty and in this case, the thin vermicelli soaked up all of it,so you have to eat this in store.
The longstanding loyalty card is a bonus, you get a stamp for every $10 spent.5 stamps get you a free ice lemon tea, next 5 get you free spring rolls.
Delicious authentic kopitiam at great value prices. The menu range is huge although the $15 lunch set can help you narrow down some options.
Nasi lemak set A was great, chicken curry was nice but the fried fish was the hero of the dish. Delicious and most importantly, authentic! Chicken satay was crispy and flavourful, satay sauce was better than average but I would've liked a bit more flavour to it and also more for the 10 sticks! Singapore laksa was nice, as some noted a bit watery however this is a decent replication of the laksa I had on my last trip to Singapore.
Service was okay, only one waitress juggling weekday lunchtime. She did come and take our order rather than us going to the counter as a big sign asked. Water is provided in bottles (room temp) and plastic cups, this is an easy area to improve on.
Overall, lovely restaurant and a great Malaysian lunch spot.
Dining out on a budget? You won't break the bank here at Killiney Kopitiam. Targeted at university students living locally, this place can get you the standard nasi lemak with fried chicken for under $9 and believe it or not, you will be full from it. An average meal will cost u $10-$13. Obviously the taste does not at all compare to places like Papparich but for the price you pay, it will do.
There are too many things to choose from in the menu. Pages after pages full of your favourite Malaysian and Singaporean dishes. Although it is good to have a variety of items, too many can make you feel overwhelmed and you end up ordering your usual or "safe" dish. They have meals varying from roti, satay, all different kinds of rice and noodles and then the ones for sharing which are a little more in cost but still not as expansive as other restaurants. They even have crab on the menu at a budget friendly price!
As for drinks, they vary from $3.50 - $5. They have your usual hot and cold drinks and they also do the fancy milo dinosaur, teh tarik milkshake and more.
As for dessert, you can also try their durian cake. There is seriously plenty to choose from. You can also play a game as they have a few available for you but you might as well play after the food arrives as there isn't a long wait at all. Cheap and extremely quick service. Ideal for students and those on a tight budget.

The sky was dark and the rain was cold. Shivering and sniffling in the miserable cold of Melbourne's winter, we were hesitant to enter any restaurants as most were vacant of customers due to the horrible weather, but eventually the cold urged us to stumble into the quiet Killeney Kopitiam.
Upon entering, a waitress greeted with warmth and seated us at a nice table in the corner. The menu was colourful and enticing that I struggled to choose what meals to defrost my body with as I have severe "decision making disorder". Meanwhile the waitress stood next to us, attentive and patient with us.
We eventually ordered Nasi Goreng, Fried Kwai Teow, Roti with Curry Sauce and Rendang (excuse me if I have misspelt any names as I am posting this the morning after). The food came out hot with flavourful aroma within 5 minutes, very quick and efficient. My Nasi Goreng can be spicier as I couldn't taste any hotness and there was a tad bit too much salt, but for the decent price it was worth it. Roti was soft and delicious (my favourite dish of the night) and the sauce rich with flavours; the combination was just heavenly. Fried Kwai Teow was simple yet tasty, and the beef in the Rendang was tender and cooked to perfection.
For the price they charge, this was a satisfying meal. :)
Hi all, my wife and I stumbled across the restaurant as the Indian restaurant was closed next door and we were very pleased to do so! We ordered chicken skewers & spring rolls for entree - good, for mains we ordered soft shell crab & mee goreng - amazing! We then washed it all down with lemon tea, very pleasant dining experience :) we will decently be back.
Excellent experience here during lunchtime. Smooth and silky iced teh tarik (pulled tea). Followed by a special soft shell crab laksa, rich and tasty. Highlight was the soft shell crab as it is the only crab I love as there is no need to crack through the shell to get to the flesh!
Good service, friendly staff, yummy food and a good price for the carlton area. The seating is a little squashed but the environment gives a good vibe.
Had dinner here with my family, the chili crab a spot on and love the singapore laksa, very authentic. Overall will come back again 8/10
Thumbs up to Killiney! I was so happy with its char kway teow and Hainese chicken rice that I felt as if I were back in Singapore. However, if you are a local Malaysian/Singaporean, don't ever order the mee pok noodles because they are... Very disappointing. Had a really great meal and would love to try the durian pancakes one day! Will strongly recommend it to home sick friends as well as those who would love to try Malaysian/S'porean cuisine.
Not all franchises are created the same. I think there's a lot to be said about trying different branches and figuring out if they are the same. In this case, it is certainly true that the CBD and Carlton branches of Killiney are quite different. The Carlton Killiney is miles ahead of its CBD sister in terms of set up, service and food. Unsurprisingly, it has a higher score on Urbanspoon than the CBD branch. This is also a certified Halal restaurant. The highglights here are the Hainanese Chicken Rice, Laksas and the CKT!
Always authentic. The food was fairly good, service was exceptional. price extremely affordable tasty and fast. it was nice And the ambience is cool, definitely be back
I like it..so good and the service is so good...great job!!!
