📝: Craving for Japanese food this lockdown? Don’t worry, Akaiito has got home delivery ready for you. So you can just wait at home while they cook up delicious Japanese food for you and deliver to door.
❤️: Throwback to pre-lockdown dinner. Loved the group dining deal they’ve got. Check out their page for more info! So much food for such a good price. Loved the optional truffle addition—made everything smell even more amazing 🤤.
A very large dining area perfect for groups. Very quite respectful atmosphere with excellent service. We sat at the bar and did a tasting menu, the food and wine was excellent.
I highly recommend this restaurant!!
I've worked in high end hospitality (restaurants, bars and a patisserie) for 13-14yrs and this venue has impeccable service!! It's rare to find a venue that serves quality dishes and provide great customer service.
I'd love to come back and introduce my other friends, family and colleagues to have the pleasure to experience the food and attentive service.
Ambience were great, food taste good too. Would definitely come back
The staffs are really nice. The food overall is good, nothing so special from other restaurant. The best dish that I love the most and might bring me back to Akaiito is the toothfish! Please order this one. Its taste and texture are just perfect - actually gave me a wow.
Treated like a Rock Star!
I've been dying for Akaiito to re-open and booked in early last night and loved it. With the stunning restaurant and friendly staff virtually to ourselves were treated to a fabulous new set course menu with 6 choices and all of them superb for $55 pp. I'm not sure how long they can serve that quality at those prices, so now is the time to get out on lockdown and in to this place to spoil yourself.
We came here for my birthday last year before the pandemic struck. We ordered the tasting menu and were presented with a series of tasty dishes, with a few of my favourites being the sashimi platter, wagyu tartare, edamame and the chicken. The dessert also added a lovely finishing touch to the whole meal. The food came out quickly so we didn't have to wait between dishes however the waitress seemed to linger around our table (and sometimes would even stare at us while we ate) due to the quiet restaurant (there was only one other table besides us). While I understand that it may be considered good service, it was a little uncomfortable. I recommended my friend to come here for valentine's day this year, however, was disappointed to see that the menu had changed drastically, with the new serving sizes decreasing to half of what is shown in my photos, despite no change in price.
Akaiito is a very sleek and sexy venue hidden away on Flinders Lane. You can sit upstairs in the main dining area or downstairs in the bar, either location definitely delivers on mood and ambiance.
We attended as a group and sat in the “Red Thread” bar downstairs whose menu is made for sharing and has 3 sections: tapas, kushiage (deep fried skewers) and robatayaki (grilled over charcoal). We had an assortment of dishes from across the menu, highlights included the luxe wagyu fried rice, addictive wok fried edamame and duck leg san choy bao.
Overall a stunning venue serving quality modern Japanese food perfect for groups or couples to share. Individual dishes can be quite pricey but there is a $55 feed me option that would be worthwhile to try.
A hidden gem without restaurant signage except for a subtle projection onto the pavement. Without a doubt THE best Japanese I’ve had in Melbourne by a long stretch. Every dish is exclusively presented with mouth watering fresh ingredients, balanced with poise and sophistication. You will not be disappointed but Wowed by just how good the food is in plain terms. Let’s not forget the setting of the restaurant - LOVE! And don’t forget to check out the newly opened bar downstairs. Oh and have a look at the private dining room. It has the most spectacular projection. Do yourself a favour and put Akaiito on your list for your next treat with loved ones.
We had the Robata Omakase menu and it was amazing. The ingredients were really fresh (we learned they get fresh deliveries daily) and the service was very good.
We did the kojan degustation and everything was perfect we were served by Desumd he was wonderful with the wine pairing!! Had a beautiful night ❤️
Sleek, sexy and brooding best sums up Akaiito. In a nod to its name, meaning red thread of fate, red thread installations hang and snake along the ceiling, and the dark marble, black granite and dim lighting thrill your senses before you even begin to enjoy your meal.
We dined at the bar downstairs – Red Thread Bar, and had the opportunity to try the chef tasting menu which features tapas that is exclusive to the bar and not the main dining room. The Wagyu Tartare and the Wagyu Fried Rice were definite highlights. The tartare was paired with crunchy seaweed cracker, playing on different textural elements. The fried rice had generous chunks of wagyu within, and was beautifully seasoned.
The Wok-Fried Edamame and Lotus Chips were delightful snacks to nibble on while sipping on cocktails, and the deep-fried skewered meats were crispy and tasty down to the last bite. Of course, dessert is not to be missed. The namesake dessert consists of a strawberry mousse sphere, honey mascarpone and dark chocolate cream -a perfect balance of flavours and textures.
A thoroughly enjoyable meal and a great overall dining experience.
Walk into a touch of elegance when you enter into Akaiito, there is a different dining experience on every level. Walk down to the red thread bar or walk up to a fine dining experience.
We dined in the red thread bar which is on the basement level and they focus on modern fusion Japanese dishes. Loved the decor and red thread display that was elegant and classy. THere is a spacious dining area on the basement level along with a bar and vip area.
There was a good range on the menu and we decided to try a few different varieties on the menu. Had the wagyu tartare, Duck Leg San Choy Bao, Akaiito Gyoza, Wagyu Fried Rice, Lotus Chips, Edamame.
Really enjoyed the charred edamame and I highly recommend it. The wagyu tartare was presented well and it went well with the seaweed crackers to give that extra crunch. The Wagyu Fried rice was cooked well and there were chunks of wagyu slices. Loved the idea of including pine nuts in the fried rice as it gives it a different texture.
For a sweet ending, we had the classic signature which was the Akaiito - Red Thread of Fate. I really enjoyed the dessert as the ingredients worked well together and there was a good balance of flavours. The strawberry mousse sphere was light and wasn't too sweet and it was balanced off with a dark chocolate ice cream. Really enjoyed the dessert as it was light and it completed the meal.
We tried the cocktails and were impressed with the mix of flavours, the yuzu cocktail was very light and refreshing and it complements the dishes really well. The staff is friendly and attentive and that plays a key role in the overall experience.
The food at Akaiito is hard to beat - and when you add value for money, it's unparalleled. I've eaten at some great Japanese restaurants around the city, and Akaiito holds it's ground amongst them. The food was exceptional, there wasn't a single course that was a "miss", everything was on point.
The restaurant is fairly new, and with that comes some teething issues in the service department. Even then, those issues are minor. The staff were very friendly and attentive, but bordering on being overly so, something that will probably self-adjust as time goes on and the restaurant inevitably gets busier.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Akaiito rise as one of the new hottest restaurants in town in the coming year.
Alex was a fantastic host
Best Jap tasting menu ever! Loved everything and especially the 51 glacier toothfish. Looking forward to our next visit!!
Delicious, fresh, over the top Japanese food that is overpriced. Save it for special occasions. I really liked the chicken skewer with egg yolk particularly. Sashimi was really fresh too and you could just taste the difference.
Service was professional and attentive.
I was lucky enough to attend Akaiito’s first VIP event a while ago and what an experience it was!
Behind an unassuming entrance along Flinders Lane lies this beautiful, classy and modern Japanese restaurant. The stunning decor and romantic ambience is what strikes you first.
We watched the talented chefs in the open kitchen as they regularly topped up all our grazing plates. There was plenty on offer - from fresh tuna, ceviche, tsukune and the most delicious wagyu skewers ever.
Downstairs by the bar, we had some lovely mocktails which were refreshing and light, and went perfectly with our canapés. The ceiling is gorgeous down their and definitely worth a visit.
Overall, I had a really amazing time at Akaiito. I will definitely be back to try their full menu soon!
Thank you so much for having me!
Akaitto is a new up and coming Japanese restaurant nestled in flinders lane. As soon as you enter you are transported into a beautiful and classy environment with a dark interior and dim lighting perfectly suited for a special occasion or just a nice meal you won’t forget. The tasting menu offers a sample of all the best products from the menu. Starting with the appetisers, the oysters are a delicious doorway into the meal, followed by impressive scallops and salmon bites that will leave you wanting more. The sashimi is fresh and delicate and tastes premium grade, and the wagyu tartare tastes as delicious as it looks. This is followed by tempura whiting which is in a mouthwatering sauce. The chicken meatball is accompanied by a yolk sauce lifts the meal to a new level. The wagyu is beautiful and the clams and mushroom rice that follow it are an absolute highlight of the meal. Just about when your jeans are ready to burst the lemon sorbet made in house will refresh your palate just in time for an incredible dessert featuring strawberry mouse and dark chocolate ice cream that looks something like what heaven on a plate would look like.
This restaurant is not your ordinary Japanese - it definitely has our 5 ticks of approval. The staff are lovely, efficient, knowledgeable and professional. The place has an open kitchen cantered in the dimly lit and spacious area.
My partner and I went to Akaiito, or the "red thread of fate" which is a great Japanese restaurant on Little Flinders lane.
We tried the Akaiito Tasting Menu. Some ofthe highlights included Seasonal Appetizers, and Wagyu Tartare which was wagyu tri-tips, smoked egg yolk, nori, ponzu, shiitake mushroom and anchovy mayo. This was so delicate, soft and moorish.
Them we tried a sashimi platter, which was tuna, salmon etc. The fish was deliciously fresh and really tasty.
The Tsukune or free range bannock chicken meatball, egg yolk and tare was moorish. Yummo!
The Glacier 51 Toothfish, well this was the for time I've eaten this, and it was perfect. This was served w NZ Diamond Clams, Shimeji, and Dashi were delicate and so fresh.
The Takikomi Gohan or Dashi Rice, Shiitake Mushroom was delicious and it worked really well.
The first dessert was a Lemon Sorbet was incredible, some of the best I've tried.
The second dessert was called Akaiito, or "The Red Thread of Fate." This was Strawberry Mousse, Honey Mascarpone and Dark Chocolate Ice Cream.
This was dessert at another level. The strawberry mousse was incredible, and the honey marscapone and the dark chocolate ice cream was THE best!!
We had such a great time and i just wanted to thank the owners for their kind invitation to visit their restaurant.
This place is definitely worth a visit!
happy with outcome of my emails to marketing regarding being charged for a mocktail which was meant to be complimentary. Would be happy to dine at akaiito again as the dishes we had were quite tasty (wagyu tataki, nigiri selection and I forget what else).
It’s very hidden in little flinders. You can walk right pass it without knowing. Once you are in you will be greater by lovely staff. Highly recommend!
Food:
The food here was really great! I went with my sister and we got the largest sushi/sashimi platter, the wagyu tataki and the robata tsukune. The platter was a big hit for the both of us which I would recommend if you're a sushi/sashimi lover. The presentation looked so good that we didn't want to touch the food and it tasted even better than it looked! The sashimi was super fresh and the different textures on the fishes were awesome. It definitely had a variety of different types of fishes which is always good. The the sushi/nigri options were also varied and superb. I can't stress how good this was. It might seem a little pricey, but it's definitely worth it and you get a great variety. The wagyu tataki was really good as well. You could taste the "beefy" taste and the sauce complemented it. However, we both found the tsukune to be a bit of a disappointment. It was recommended by our waitress but we thought that the texture of the chicken was weird as it was mushy and it basically resembled a corndog. Plus it was quite small, $8 per skewer for basically 2 bites.
Service:
The service was really good for the most part. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, helping us decide what was the best options for us to try. Though just a little tip. When we sat down she asked us whether we wanted sparkling or still water so we got still water. However, it turned out that there was a hidden option number 3, which was tap water and would have been free instead of paying $12 for still water. So, if you're someone who's not fussed about where your water is from, make sure you ask for tap water because they won't tell you that's an option.
Ambiance:
The ambiance was nice and cozy. The atmosphere gave off a fine dining, exclusive vibe. It was quiet so you can have a peaceful meal and chat to one another without having to raise your voice or anything like that.
Overall, I definitely recommend this restaurant! It has a lot of great things about it and I definitely would love to come back and try out their tasting menu one day.
We welcome the newest addition to the Japanese restaurants in Melbourne. Nestle in the quiet side of Flinders Lane, Akaiito brings us modern Japanese foods with chic, sexy and luxurious ambience from an open robata omakase area, cosy bar and sushi counter – truly an ultimate Japanese cuisine experience.
Yay: fresh cut Tuna Tartare, chicken robatayaki, Wagyu Negi-Ma
Nay: strawberry mousse sphere
Shouldn’t have filled up on rocks
I was skeptical about another modern Japanese restaurant but Akaiito exceeded my expectations. The venue was minimalistic yet had clean interior. We weren’t presented with a menu so each course of the robata omakase was a surprise. Out of 12 courses there were only two which I wasn’t a huge fan but I absolutely loved every other dish. Our Omakase chef was welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend trying out Akaiito’s omakase if you’re a fan of modern Japanese. Don’t expect traditional Japanese cuisine and you won’t be disappointed.
Great food! Loved our omakase chef, but the waitress’ service could’ve been improved. Otherwise good experience, with lovely food. Would go back for the food alone
Akaiito is a newly opened Japanese restaurant that includes two types of menu. You got your omakase/tasting menu which you can sit at the chef’s table or just your average al la carte menu where you can sit on the outer tables.
The interior is absolutely breath taking. I love love loveee the red ribbon on the roof, it made the whole place look extremely luxurious. It gave a fine dining kind of feel. Everything extremely lux and modern.
We came here to celebrate my birthday and I chose to order off the Al la carte menu. We started off with the Nigiri which came with 6 pieces for $35, quite pricey hey! Was it worth it? Hmmm the quality was there but it wasn’t the best sushi I’ve had. My favourite were the salmon belly and the toro!
Next we ordered the soft shell crab which didn’t look like your typical maki. I liked the texture of everything, especially the crispy chips however I didn’t taste soft shell crab. I thought it was lacking flavour and needed something to differentiate that I was eating soft shell crab.
On to the raw dishes…. We ordered the Toro Tartare, the wagyu tartare tacos and the Wagyu Tataki. I found the Toro Tartare a bit whatever. I don’t think it worked well with the squid ink crackers, I would have enjoyed it a lot more if they served it with a crispy light chip or something like that. I thought the flavours were quite bland and the otoro wasn’t really fatty nor did it have that otoro flavour.
The Wagyu Tartare Tacos was my partners favourite dish. I really enjoyed eating the Wagyu Tartare with the crispy nori! The flavours were delicious. Very easy and light dish to eat.
One of my favourite dishes was the Wagyu Tataki. I really liked the sauce they used. I think ponzu and raw meat go hand in hand. It gave a nice citrusy flavour and the egg just tops it all off. It was creamy and delicious with the wagyu! I also liked the addition of the shredded leeks, it brings a crunchy texture to the dish. We also ate all our raw dishes with the crispy nori from the Wagyu Tartare dish which went really well with all dishes.
We heard that this place specialises in Robata, so we decided to try some out. We picked the wagyu negs-ma which was Takeda farm wagyu tri-tip, soy glaze and shallots and the Yakiton which was the pork belly and miso shoyu. I didn’t really enjoy the wagyu robata, I don’t think it was worth the $12. The meat wasn’t really that tender. The pork belly was a lot more juicier and tender. I enjoyed that one a lot more.
Coming to the end of the night, since it was my birthday, they arranged dessert for me which I thought was extremely lovely of them. Thank you so much for the dessert! It was delicious. They also sang me happy birthday, a bit embarassing but I really did appreciate it! The dessert was their signature Akaiito - The red thread of fate - explains the red thread on the roof. It was a Strawberry Moose sphere, honey mascarpone and dark chocolate icecream. The dessert was a stand out. I love mouse desserts and it was indulgent but not too rich which I absolutely loved. Thank you again for the dessert!
In terms of customer service, service was quite good. Some of the dishes took awhile to come out. I remember waiting for over 20 minutes for a dish.
Overall, I do recommend trying this place out. Most dishes were delicious. I defs would reccomend trying their signature dessert and their raw dishes.
If you are looking for a new function space or a nice venue for a night out in the heart of the CBD, then look no further. Akaiito is a sophisticated new dining space that will surprise and impress your guests.
I was in awe with the Tsukiyo dining room, an interactive dining experience which I would love to experience. The venue is split into 2, the Akaiito bar which is located downstairs and the Robata dining space where you can watch the highly skillful chef prepare your food.
The food here is amazing, I've had the pleasure of trying a range of their smaller portion food which includes their Robata selections such as their Cherry tomato skewers, Tsukune and Wagyu Negi-Ma, fresh Tuna and Kingfish, Wagyu Fried Rice with Shiitake mushrooms and pine nuts and some or their desserts, which includes a delicious sorbet.
I would highly recommend this place, so make sure you check it out the next time you are in the CBD. You won't be disappointed - hopefully!
If you are looking for an absolutely incredible dining experience, you can’t go past this Japanese restaurant. The dining environment boasts an array of different areas, from private dining functions to intimate dining areas.
We got to experience a culinary feast of all their freshly sourced ingredients and skills in understanding how to prepare and cook traditional and delicious flavours from Japan. We watched as the they showed us how to cut tuna the right way, and try the most mouth water Wagyu!
If you’re looking for that special group function, or perhaps a perfect date spot I’d nightly recommend checking this place out!
We loved 😍
This gorgeous Japanese restaurant brought me back to japan. The dining area was cosy and gave an exclusive vibe. We ordered the omakase set which was a series of about 10 dishes served by the chef right in front of you and talking you through each step. Our chef was lovely during the night.
We really enjoyed the seafood aspects of the meal. The products they use all tasted very fresh. Overall it was a very delicious meal and was worth the money.
The chef was creative and was open to ideas to help the restaurant improve.
The best Japanese food I’ve ever tried in Melbourne. Friendly services and excellent foods. I’m highly recommend for dating. Definitely will go there again!
The place is beautiful. Good for a date. Tonight we had the wagyu fried rice, duck, ox tongue, gyoza, beef ribs, tempura and delicious beef tartare. They were all tasty, except the gyoza was pretty average. I do wish if the portions could be a little bit more generous. For 3 small duck breasts .. we had to pay $42, I think that was too over priced. Small selections for wines by the glass. Service was pretty good. However it took a while for them just to deliver us the bill. They don’t do split bills. First fine dining place that I’ve been without allowing the customers to split the bills. Overall it was a great experience. You should give it ago :)
Akaiito is a spectacular addition to Melbourne’s fine dining Japanese restaurant scene! With a red-thread installation that leads you further into the dining area, it’s a total sensory experience! The sukiyaki bento box is beyond delicious - it’s beautiful too! With incredible flavour and presentation, Akaiito is an incredible choice for lunch or dinner!
Lovely hidden and newly opened restaurant down on Flinders Lane. The omakase served was amazing and the concept is different to other restaurants. Loved the food and environment. Chef Winston was extremely friendly and lovely to speak with. He served every dish with great care and love.
Food: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Ambiance: 5/5
Would I recommend Akaiito to family and friends? Absolutely!
Would I be returning to Akaiito? Without a doubt!
Thank you again for a pleasant dining experience.
Three people had 85pp tasting menu
Dishes:
Skewers are most features in this restaurant.
Needs more attention to garnishing herbs.
Most dishes flavour are not very innovative.
Restaurant setup:
Cosy and comfort.
Service:
Very friendly staff and having a excellent service quality.
Lack of front house staff members
The robata omakase was a really wonderful and fun dining experience. Chef Sam took very good care of us and even showed us some interesting delicious things we had never tried before, like chicken tail skewers.. which were crunchy on the outside but so soft and fatty on the inside. We had lots of fun 😊 service was also extremely polite and attentive. Very happy to recommend Akaiito to anyone 💛
It was very wonderful night, every staff was so kind to us. Chef introduced every dishes. The scallops and the toro belly was amazing. In the end, they still remembered our anniversary request, change one dessert into a small cake.
Interior was beautifully decorated.
Friendly staff though not the most knowledgeable about the menu - still generally a new restaurant, so fair enough.
Alcohol selection was not bad however most of the wines that we had attempted to order were not available. Doesn't seem right, considering they had just opened.
Ordered the set menu - though we enjoyed the selection of dishes, it definitely was too much. Could probably have done without 2-3 of the courses or perhaps reducing the portion sizes, especially for the heavier items. Usually never say no to dessert but really had to force myself to eat it at that point. Dessert was some sort of lemon souffle. Wasn't really wowed by it nor did it seem very Japanese. Would love to see some matcha items on the menu.
Would come back again!
A hidden gem perfect for date with the hubby or some girlfriends. Enter through the big dark wooden doors.
We order the Akaiito’s live from Tokoyo’ super mega deluxe sushi-sashimi-maki selection. Which was a good mix for three adults to share.
I also highly recommend the cocktails and desserts.
I’m so impressed by the service and the vibe this restaurants gives. Thank you Hugo for being so helpful as we had a little one who couldn’t eat anything with wheat. The chef was very accommodating and really went above and beyond to cater for us.
I would come back again!
I had such an amazing time here and being one of the newest Japanese restaurant in Melbourne, it’s definitely now on my top list! I love the concept of a bento box but the deluxe bento boxes here is quality and pretty. The Sukiyaki Bento is definitely my favourite but i also love the unagi don and cod as well as the katsu. Will definitely be coming back again for more dishes! Thanks so much for having us
Originally made a booking for Omakase but was cancelled cuz we were told that the chef would be away and they kindly gave us some complimentary drinks and a dessert for that. The over all experience was delightful as the chef(Hayashi I believe) that was preparing the sushi and sashimi platter was very friendly and we had a chat about the beauty of Japanese food. He is a really talented chef with an amazing character and it made our dining experience very memorable. The waiter and waitresses there are very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of.
Tried (ratings for each dish out of 5 🥄):
🥢 Lotus chips 🥄🥄🥄🥄
🥢 Robata Tako 🥄🥄🥄🥄
🥢 Chef selected sashimi, nigiri & maki 🥄🥄🥄🥄
🥢 Lamb ribs w plum sauce 🥄🥄🥄🥄🥄
🥢 “Akaiito”-‘The red thread of fate’ 🥄🥄🥄🥄
🙂
The soy sauce on the nigiri was specially crafted by the sushi chef and I thought it was unique and blends well with the fish and the rice, didn’t have to dip extra sushi soy on the side for me.
☹️
The only flaw of the chef selected sashimi, nigiri and the maki was the maki. The maki wasn’t really special and tasted average only.
Brand New modern Japanese cuisine. Booked Japanese Robatayaki experience at the counter. Chef is really professional preparing each single dish in front of you, all dishes taste beautiful and the balance of flavour in each dish is perfect. Staff are friendly as well. Downside is I think the chefs in kitchen shouldn’t wear watches.
My amazing wife recently celebrated her birthday, and since she loves Japanese cuisine, I took her out for dinner at newly opened Akaiito. Akaiito, meaning red thread of fate in Japanese, can be found behind a big black door on Flinders lane. One of the beautiful features of the restaurant interior is a red thread installation which leads you into further inside to the dining area.
Rating: 4.5
Amazing new restaurant in town to join the iconic flinders lane full of some of Melbournes best restaurants. Akaiito did not disappoint. Food was absolutely amazing and presentation was spectacular. Would highly recommend trying it out. The venue is gorgeous with the standout light feature that wraps the ceiling and the atmosphere is great, you see the chefs working away in the Centre of the restaurant.
The Gindara Saikyo-yaki glacier 51 toothfish is a must try.. so mouthwatering. The edamame is also a must to order while waiting for your mains, best edamame I’ve had with just enough saltiness. Another favorite is the sous-vide short ribs. The sashimi is so fresh and just melts in your mouth.
You really get the full experience and the staff are very tentative.
Akaiito is honestly my favourite Japanese restaurant in town. Lovely atmosphere, waiting staff were so tentative, food was absolute perfection in terms of taste and appearance, so many variety. I am keen to try lunch there next time!!
Food and cocktails were amazing! Our initial server, which was the 'manager' left a lot to be desired. Thankfully Hugo took over service at our table and turned a potentially average night to an unforgettable one. His knowledge of the menu was outstanding in helping us make the right food choices. His enthusiasm and understanding of the food evident. We would definitely go back. Thank you Hugo!
Melbourne’s latest fine dining Japanese restaurant Akaiito brings us modern Japanese food with a coal-induced flare. A cosy bar, a visual dining experience, plenty of saké, sushi counter and a robata omakase are just a few of the things to expect. There are connections, and good memories to be made, should fate lead you here.
Excellent service provided by our waiter. Fit out was atmospheric, with the grill at the centre of the action. We ordered a range of the skewers, the tsukune, Wagyu and the pork belly were fantastic, charred and flavoursome.
I came here yesterday for my bday dinner ! Have to rate 5 starts because of the great food and super friendly service ! The restaurant decoration is very cool and warming , the beef tartae taco is one of the must try dishes i would recommend , the sashimi was very fresh and tasty ! 😍😍 And the price is also very reasonable compare to other japanese fine dining restaurant ! My table was served by a japanese lady ! She is very friendly and enthusiasm and very polite to every customers ! We really enjoyed everything yestersay from Akaiito ! Will back here a gain soon . ❤️
I had the omakase dinner last week and we had great dinner here. The staff are friendly and also the chef who cooked the omakase for me. This omakase here is a bit different with usual omakase which usually they serve sushi but they serve yakitori instead. The first food was scampi with ponzu dressing, it was good choice to start, it was fantastic and that made a good first impression though. Suprisingly all of the yakitori were so good! I love the sweet potato yakitori the most which i didn’t expect that would be my fav for the yakitori. Very impressed with the Marron, the Octopus, and the last meal like a bento with A5 Wagyu and the truffle rice with scallop! Last but not least, the dessert was average but it was okay. The price is $115pp which was very reasonable because we didn’t expect the foods will come that much. Overall, very good value and experience. Every dollar well spent here and we will denitely comeback again and try for the a la carte as well.
Excellent service and fantastic food! One of the best places in melbourne. Chef is from Sydney starting out new business and is a great dude. But best is the food. Try it out and you will see.
What a great find Akaiito proved to be. Newly opened we experienced great service and delicious food. We had a few hiccups with the order our dishes were presented, some things forgotten but the way this was handled by the wait staff shows they are committed to making Akaiita up there with the best Japanese Melbourne has to offer.
We started with oysters followed by Wagu tartare served with crispy nori that we really enjoyed. Sushi (nigiri) was perfect and the quality of the sashimi didn’t go unnoticed.
All items from the robata charcoal grill were so succulent we wanted more of each. We sampled the chicken meatballs & the tooth fish which was exceptional.
Finished with the lamb ribs which were sticky and falling of the bone deliciousness but we probably need some steamed rice to help cut the richness.
The lemon soufflé was the perfect finish to a wonderful meal. We will return again very soon.
We selected the Akaiito Kojin Menu which consisted of 7 courses across 2.5 hours. It sure did not disappoint, each course was balanced and delicious with the short rib Angus topping the charts. Soft & beautiful ambience with an open space kitchen to admire. Will come back again!
Went here with a couple of mates for a catchup. We got the feed me menu they had the regular on and I had the vegetarian. We drank a fee beers and whiskeys - they have a decent Japanese collection. My favorite was the charcoal broccoli, it was unique and tasted awesome.
Quiet night (upstairs), but great service as a result from Charles and the chef. Degustation was an intriguing and delicious exploration of Japanese flavours. Highlights included a savoury charcoal and ikura macaron, a gorgeous miso black cod, and amazake icecream. Restaurant itself is intimate, and I had a good view of the open kitchen. Will definitely be returning in the future!
The food was nice, to be expected for $110 pp. I was slightly hungry after we left and the whole experience took 2.5 hrs, which was a lot of time to be waiting around for food. People with a hunger for fine-dining and japanese fusion will enjoy. Nice ambience.
We had the 10 course set menu, the staff were awesome, in particular the very enthusiastic waiter who gave us the run down of every dish.
We did however have bones in our fish, which was met with an apology, no complimentary drink or a slight discount.
That aside the food was very delicious.
I fine dine quite often and must say that I don't believe the drinks are worth the price, usually if the cocktails are small they are quite strong, I did not incur this.
Overall an expensive night that was justified with delicious food and great service.
I am delighted I tried it out, but won't be rushing back, as you can get better value and amazing fine dining elsewhere.
Came here for Mother’s Day. The food was good, a little over priced for what it was. My husband and I fine dine a lot and in all honesty they couldn’t offered more and the food could’ve had more flavour. However the service was good.
Staff were knowledgeable about their dishes, was a fun dining experience. Food came out fairly quickly for a set menu. Great experience overall.
