📝: Craving for Japanese food this lockdown? Don’t worry, Akaiito has got home delivery ready for you. So you can just wait at home while they cook up delicious Japanese food for you and deliver to door.

❤️: Throwback to pre-lockdown dinner. Loved the group dining deal they’ve got. Check out their page for more info! So much food for such a good price. Loved the optional truffle addition—made everything smell even more amazing 🤤.

A very large dining area perfect for groups. Very quite respectful atmosphere with excellent service. We sat at the bar and did a tasting menu, the food and wine was excellent.

I highly recommend this restaurant!!
I've worked in high end hospitality (restaurants, bars and a patisserie) for 13-14yrs and this venue has impeccable service!! It's rare to find a venue that serves quality dishes and provide great customer service.
I'd love to come back and introduce my other friends, family and colleagues to have the pleasure to experience the food and attentive service.

The staffs are really nice. The food overall is good, nothing so special from other restaurant. The best dish that I love the most and might bring me back to Akaiito is the toothfish! Please order this one. Its taste and texture are just perfect - actually gave me a wow.

Treated like a Rock Star!
I've been dying for Akaiito to re-open and booked in early last night and loved it. With the stunning restaurant and friendly staff virtually to ourselves were treated to a fabulous new set course menu with 6 choices and all of them superb for $55 pp. I'm not sure how long they can serve that quality at those prices, so now is the time to get out on lockdown and in to this place to spoil yourself.

We came here for my birthday last year before the pandemic struck. We ordered the tasting menu and were presented with a series of tasty dishes, with a few of my favourites being the sashimi platter, wagyu tartare, edamame and the chicken. The dessert also added a lovely finishing touch to the whole meal. The food came out quickly so we didn't have to wait between dishes however the waitress seemed to linger around our table (and sometimes would even stare at us while we ate) due to the quiet restaurant (there was only one other table besides us). While I understand that it may be considered good service, it was a little uncomfortable. I recommended my friend to come here for valentine's day this year, however, was disappointed to see that the menu had changed drastically, with the new serving sizes decreasing to half of what is shown in my photos, despite no change in price.

Akaiito is a very sleek and sexy venue hidden away on Flinders Lane. You can sit upstairs in the main dining area or downstairs in the bar, either location definitely delivers on mood and ambiance.

We attended as a group and sat in the “Red Thread” bar downstairs whose menu is made for sharing and has 3 sections: tapas, kushiage (deep fried skewers) and robatayaki (grilled over charcoal). We had an assortment of dishes from across the menu, highlights included the luxe wagyu fried rice, addictive wok fried edamame and duck leg san choy bao.

Overall a stunning venue serving quality modern Japanese food perfect for groups or couples to share. Individual dishes can be quite pricey but there is a $55 feed me option that would be worthwhile to try.

A hidden gem without restaurant signage except for a subtle projection onto the pavement. Without a doubt THE best Japanese I’ve had in Melbourne by a long stretch. Every dish is exclusively presented with mouth watering fresh ingredients, balanced with poise and sophistication. You will not be disappointed but Wowed by just how good the food is in plain terms. Let’s not forget the setting of the restaurant - LOVE! And don’t forget to check out the newly opened bar downstairs. Oh and have a look at the private dining room. It has the most spectacular projection. Do yourself a favour and put Akaiito on your list for your next treat with loved ones.

We had the Robata Omakase menu and it was amazing. The ingredients were really fresh (we learned they get fresh deliveries daily) and the service was very good.

We selected the Akaiito Kojin Menu which consisted of 7 courses across 2.5 hours. It sure did not disappoint, each course was balanced and delicious with the short rib Angus topping the charts. Soft & beautiful ambience with an open space kitchen to admire. Will come back again!

Went here with a couple of mates for a catchup. We got the feed me menu they had the regular on and I had the vegetarian. We drank a fee beers and whiskeys - they have a decent Japanese collection. My favorite was the charcoal broccoli, it was unique and tasted awesome.

Quiet night (upstairs), but great service as a result from Charles and the chef. Degustation was an intriguing and delicious exploration of Japanese flavours. Highlights included a savoury charcoal and ikura macaron, a gorgeous miso black cod, and amazake icecream. Restaurant itself is intimate, and I had a good view of the open kitchen. Will definitely be returning in the future!

The food was nice, to be expected for $110 pp. I was slightly hungry after we left and the whole experience took 2.5 hrs, which was a lot of time to be waiting around for food. People with a hunger for fine-dining and japanese fusion will enjoy. Nice ambience.

We had the 10 course set menu, the staff were awesome, in particular the very enthusiastic waiter who gave us the run down of every dish. We did however have bones in our fish, which was met with an apology, no complimentary drink or a slight discount. That aside the food was very delicious. I fine dine quite often and must say that I don't believe the drinks are worth the price, usually if the cocktails are small they are quite strong, I did not incur this. Overall an expensive night that was justified with delicious food and great service. I am delighted I tried it out, but won't be rushing back, as you can get better value and amazing fine dining elsewhere.

Came here for Mother’s Day. The food was good, a little over priced for what it was. My husband and I fine dine a lot and in all honesty they couldn’t offered more and the food could’ve had more flavour. However the service was good.

Staff were knowledgeable about their dishes, was a fun dining experience. Food came out fairly quickly for a set menu. Great experience overall.
