Celebrate my birthday at this elegant historical place.. Lovely atmosphere n friendly staff..
Very organized.. Kids friendly..
Food is to die for.. Entree Pork Belly, Lamb cutlets and their sorbet are the favorite dishes of mine..
Will definitely come back..
I know it sounds strange but you'd be surprised how many top end restaurants can't cook a rare steak - well I ordered the rib-eye on the bone rare and one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Bravo The Bank! Very good value for the quality of the food - I wish there was 10 stars as my meal truly deserves it!!!
4.5/5
I went to the bank for lunch. This is a great Art Deco building, and a really busy restaurant.
The service is excellent, professional and attentive.
I ordered the beef, apple & beetroot burger and it was fantastic. This was grass fed beef, beetroot chutney, apple fennel and rosemary patty, this was another level, Yummo! Local Victorian Brie amd apple cider dressing which went soo well w my schooner of cider.
What a combination! The fries were good and with a bit of seasoning this was a solid dish.
Definitely worth a visit.
What a glorious bunch there - food near perfect service indeed perfect helpful, kind patient - wow! We went as a group of 20 all meals fresh & hot timed perfectly - very impressive - tbank you to the team - we ALL (yup all 20!) loved it!👏👏👏👏
What a beautiful old building! The staff were friendly and efficient. The $5 happy hour house Shiraz was good!!! Had the sharing platter for entree which was quite a generous serving. The arancini balls on it were divine and I could’ve eaten a whole plate of them! Followed up with crumbed lamb cutlets with mash. Could hardly fit it all in. Highly recommend this place!!
Way back in March for my birthday, Brody treated me to a lunch at The Bank on Collins. It had been on my list to check out after learning that the same owners ran Father’s Office and Asian Beer Cafe. Of course, just because the same owners run multiple businesses doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll all be safe. However, when I contacted The Bank, I am happy to report that they adhere to the same cross-contamination methods. Naturally, I confirmed this when we arrived at the ground floor of 394 Collins Street.
Lucky for us we got the last table available at The Bank on Collins when a last minute decision was made to go for a burger lunch on a Friday.
They do a $20 meal deal over lunch on a range of dishes from salads to burgers and include a drink of house wine, beer or soft drink in the price. It was always going to be a drink and a burger and chips. We ordered a Fried Chicken Burger, an American Cheese Burger and a Double Cheese Burger.
My chicken burger was great, the chicken was moist with a delicious buttermilk coating and a tasty slaw. The cheese burgers were well received, they had a good American cheese to patty ratio. One in our group was hungover from last night and claimed his burger provided a suitable cure for said hangover.

😱Lizzie’s first impression: I have come here many times now and I find the busiest it gets is during Friday lunches and nights. The place used to be a bank so it very spacious and beautiful.
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: Because it’s a big space - they always have room especially for big groups. They also do a $20 express menu which includes a selection of food to choose from and a drink. I love the fried chicken burger and the steak is always a good choice.
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: I must say the portion size has decreased over the years but for $20, I think it I very bang for your buck.
🥇Lizzie rates overall: The staff are very profressional and the place has a nice ambience to it - highly recommend for group lunches and dinners.
Came for a delicious dinner on a Friday night. The place was buzzing, a brilliant place for after work drinks and events. In terms of dinner, we had 2 burgers. Absolutely delicious American Cheeseburger and a Beef, Apple and Beetroot burger. We will be back! 🍔🍔🍔
The interior is absolutely divine. Love the high ceiling and the posters decor! Food is surprisingly affordable. This time my friend and I went for the classic parmas which were tasty enough to meet our expectation. The grapefruit fizz mocktail was refreshing and not sugary. The fresh rosemary sprig adds a tasteful aroma. Service was welcoming and nice. Will definitely plan a dinner visit to try out other dishes.
The Bank on Collins has improved a lot in service. Last time we waited for over an hour for the food to arrive but this time it was only approximately 30 mins. I ordered the Halloumi salad, which was very generous in serving & tasted delicious with lots of vegetables. The normal fries were good but not as good as the sweet potato fries. The restaurant is quite cold inside because the entry door is left open so wear something warm at night in winter.
AND YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK.
There are lunch specials, and then there are Bank Lunch specials. A really long list of $20 options – something for everyone. Even that one fussy type that can never decide what they want. You know the type, they’re worried about getting fat, they’re worried about gluten or some thing like that. Then you end up not getting your order in before the huge table next to you and you end and they don’t realise how much of an annoying bugger they’re being …. SORRY, got a bit side-tracked there.
The service was a little haphazard initially. It took three explanations of "I’m just after a drink while we wait for others to arrive" to convince the waiter that we were not ordering lunch yet. However, apart from this misunderstanding everything thereafter went smoothly.
The Dear Luncher was intrigued by the concept of a deep-fried burrito. It was good overall. The jar of salsa looks great, but it was challenging to get it out onto the burrito. In this particular instance something more functional would be better. After being deep-fried, there was a sense of the buritto contents getting compacted a fair bit. And while it still tasted pretty good, it just felt like a mash-up of refried beans and chicken. Everything else inside the casing became subsumed by this.
Still, for $20 and a schooner of beer on top – this was a pretty good outcome. It’s easy to see why this humongous venue is choc-full of people just about every day of the week.
Both the environment and the food were perfect. It’s a big space with fabulous interior decoration, which is perfect for after-work dinner and drinks. The happy hour starts about 4 or 5 cuz I didn’t see it clearly.
It’s really a good place for people working and living around with totally reasonable price.
The Bank was a great place to have dinner. The starters were amazing and very tasty. The chicken ribs were amazing and so were the pork sliders. I would also commend on the excellent cocktails on offer.
Service was top notch and never felt rushed for a late Monday evening. Stella was courteous and happy to oblige to many adhoc requests. She was exemplary in her manners and made our day! Thank you 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Such a great venue in such a beautiful building.
Great food and drinks served by super friendly staff.
Highly recommended.
Amazing place.. a very big building at the corner of William street and Collin street with a nice interior and delicious food. I go for the party but recommend for the big parties and for more people. They have dining and bar separate that somehow is cool.. which helps people to enjoy drinks and food separately . W the food was good with reasonable prices.. staff is friendly and after looking. The crumbed lamb cutlets are good enough but need more sauce as it becomes dry little bit .
4.5 out of 5.. love the place. Must try.
