Review The Bank On Collins - Melbourne

Angel Khong
The Bank on Collins was a restaurant/bar serving steak/modern Australian/pub food. Tried their steak before and thought it was pretty decent but recently tried their pork belly and it was so fatty and tasteless so overall a bit gross. The sides of salad and chips were pretty good and so were their cocktails. Will just return for drinks.

Both the environment and the food were perfect. It’s a big space with fabulous interior decoration, which is perfect for after-work dinner and drinks. The happy hour starts about 4 or 5 cuz I didn’t see it clearly. It’s really a good place for people working and living around with totally reasonable price.

The Bank was a great place to have dinner. The starters were amazing and very tasty. The chicken ribs were amazing and so were the pork sliders. I would also commend on the excellent cocktails on offer. Service was top notch and never felt rushed for a late Monday evening. Stella was courteous and happy to oblige to many adhoc requests. She was exemplary in her manners and made our day! Thank you 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Such a great venue in such a beautiful building. Great food and drinks served by super friendly staff. Highly recommended.

The food was good but the service was poor. Ordered three drinks and only one was brought over, then never asked if we wanted more during the meal and had to get up and chase someone down. Plates weren't cleared and we eventually moved them to another table after 20 minutes of them still being in front of us (there were hardly any other customers at this point).

Very disappointed overall. A few key things before speaking about the food. The bathrooms were a disgrace, the door open and the facilities equivalent to a public restroom untouched for a week. The dining tables were not cleaned or wiped down after each meal, merely a new napkin, water glass and cutlery put down, no attempt to clean at all, table was sticky and stained and generally unpleasant. The staff made very little attempt to engage, I had to exit my table re and go to the bar to get a drink despite it being table service. The first two options I chose off the menu were not available and the dish that I decided upon was undercooked, obviously reheated as opposed to freshly cooked, served with a single lettuce leaf as a salad and was unappealing in every sense if the word. Prices although not outrageous were on the high end to begin with and the overall service left a great deal to be desired. I would not recommend dining there although the atmosphere is unique and may be suitable for a casual drink at the bar if that is all you are after. Very sad as I had hoped for much better

Amazing place.. a very big building at the corner of William street and Collin street with a nice interior and delicious food. I go for the party but recommend for the big parties and for more people. They have dining and bar separate that somehow is cool.. which helps people to enjoy drinks and food separately . W the food was good with reasonable prices.. staff is friendly and after looking. The crumbed lamb cutlets are good enough but need more sauce as it becomes dry little bit . 4.5 out of 5.. love the place. Must try.

Bad food and abysmal service. We were served cold food, the waitress offered to replace the meal at no cost. Unfortunately the initial waitress went home and other wait staff insisted on charging us for the replaced dish, treating us as if we were trying to get free food. Shame as it’s a nice building.

Visited Friday 18/11 dinner booked luckily very busy extremely loud couldn’t hear. Conversation with my partner- acoustics shocking! Slow with drinks cocktails ok not overly $ had barramundi over seasoned so much pepper and salt spoilt the dish and at $27 not impressed partner had pork belly salad said ok but hardly any pork belly all I could see was green leaves! Sadly wouldn’t recommend beautiful historical building such a shame people of Melbourne seemed to like it not enough staff pored our own water all but once to me quick to place order not too long to wait for meal so guess that was a postive staff friendly enough holidaying lastx2 weeks second worse experience sadly

I ordered the Avocado on toast with poached eggs. Too much avocado and needed to have a bit less avo and more acid. A touch of lime and a hint of heat with some chilli. Poached egg was cooked just right. My husband had poached eggs with bacon. The bacon was very fatty seemed like it was broiled instead of fried. Coffee and tea came out after the meal. The coffee was bitter and the tea was weak. The Banks atmosphere was amazing and nostalgic but the food needed a bit of love...

We had the $20 lunch yesterday 23rdvNov.2017. The food and variety were fabulous. You cant beat that deal incl. a glass of wine, beer or soft drink. I had the burger with the beetroot and apple and it was delicious. My husband had the steak and he said it was the best steak he has had in a long time. I5 wa# very noisy, and extremely busy but the service was fantastic. Highly r3commended

I know it sounds strange but you'd be surprised how many top end restaurants can't cook a rare steak - well I ordered the rib-eye on the bone rare and one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Bravo The Bank! Very good value for the quality of the food - I wish there was 10 stars as my meal truly deserves it!!!

I should preface this by saying the building and bar is lovely, and I had good service at the bar. The group I was with agreed we would go back to the bar. But not to the restaurant. 1. Waited a long time to get service in the first instance. Wasn’t that busy, but still forgivable. 2. Website advertised discounted Parma on Tuesday night - staff knew nothing about it. We didn’t bother to argue. But it was on the website clear as day. 3. Entree never came out, asked about it and they offered to get it, but we already had our mains, so we declined. 4. Never offered any extra drinks despite sitting there for ages. Missed opportunity for the business really as we wanted and would have paid for another round. The waitress even came and gave us extra water (which we appreciated) but ignored the empty glasses and attempts at eye contact. Plenty of options for food in Melbourne and unfortunately we won’t be back for this again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner of 3 courses, service was brilliant , atmosphere of this historic building is amazing and the food is to die for , defiantly recommend and will defiantly be back !!!

The ducks nuts! Ha ha! 3 course meal and despite not having had dessert yet I don't think there will be any disappointment if entree & main are anything to go by! The rib eye steak- melts in your mouth! The pork belly with the entree- only complaint, I wanted more. Beer is good, service is great and we would definitely come back... just need that babysitter

We had a scoupon voucher for a set meal. All the food was amazing. Staff were polite, friends & very attentive. Would highly recommend "The Bank on Collins"

Recently visited Melbourne with 2 other couples. Tried a walk in dinner but told no room at the inn even tho not full. Went across street for less than average meal. Passed by an hour later, still plenty of empty tables! Ur loss - 6 hungry adults, cash in pocket, ready to dine! disappointing!

This was a gem for a leisurely late breakfast. We had a scoopon and found the friendly staff more than happy to adjust the menu to accomodate my allergy requirements. Very happy to experience this beautiful building and it's yummy menu 😊

Dinner last night was a delight! Not just great food but used a Scoopon voucher so great value also! Especially loved the mixed entree with arancini balls & pork belly, would definitely return!!

I used a Scoopon and had an amazing night. Great food and exceptional service. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

I attended on a Saturday night for my girlfriends HENS party dinner. The food was really good reasonable priced and very tasty. The happy HR cocktail were really good value they made a really good pimms which melbourne is not known for. The only down side was the drinks took forever to arrive, half a HR for each round. Otherwise very enjoyable staff very friendly

Stunning heritage building; inside and out. Friendly staff, very delicious food, generous size for breakfast. The interior must be upgraded to me; such an amazing building with crystal chandeliers and ornamental ceiling must have better and stylish furnishing i am sure.

What a great place for a night out. We purchased a scoop on voucher and we're surprised buy the building and the atmosphere of the restaurant. From the first greeting and escorted to our table to the food and the service we will definitely be back and let others know of the establishment. Great job, service food and price.👍

Great venue at the heart of Collins street with lot of content and great atmosphere.<br/><br/>Food wise its a pretty standard and common. I don't think there is anything special about the food.<br/><br/>Service is super friendly and attentive

We loved 😍<br/>This place does a great lunch deal. You can get a drink and a main meal for $22. I would recommend the chicken Parma. The arancini balls were also a delight!<br/>They also do great happy hour drinks. I would recommend this place for a team lunch or after work drinks.<br/>

4.5/5<br/>I went to the bank for lunch. This is a great Art Deco building, and a really busy restaurant. <br/><br/>The service is excellent, professional and attentive. <br/><br/>I ordered the beef, apple & beetroot burger and it was fantastic. This was grass fed beef, beetroot chutney, apple fennel and rosemary patty, this was another level, Yummo! Local Victorian Brie amd apple cider dressing which went soo well w my schooner of cider. <br/><br/>What a combination! The fries were good and with a bit of seasoning this was a solid dish.<br/><br/>Definitely worth a visit.

How to book this place? I have just called and the guy said The Bank has just been sold to another company and they are still working out the phone system for bookings. Appreciate for your prompt response!
Arun Jose
It’s a massive place and you can easily accomodate any size of group. My experience wasn’t that great. I bought a lunch menu of $22 for a burger and a Diet Coke. I ordered a vegetable burger and it wasn’t a great experience however my friends who ordered stakes had good opinion. My overall rating is 3 because the food taste is not matching to the cost of food. I may not go again.

Came here for dinner after work. Was busy but quietened down over time<br/>Design was great and they have kept the decor interesting<br/>Service was great<br/><br/>Ordered oysters, and steak<br/>Oysters were much smaller than expected<br/>Beef was ordered medium rare but came out more medium therefore slightly dry and tough. Was disappointed. Presentation of dish was great<br/><br/>Service 4/5<br/>Ambiance 4/5<br/>Food 3/5

What a glorious bunch there - food near perfect service indeed perfect helpful, kind patient - wow! We went as a group of 20 all meals fresh & hot timed perfectly - very impressive - tbank you to the team - we ALL (yup all 20!) loved it!👏👏👏👏

What a beautiful old building! The staff were friendly and efficient. The $5 happy hour house Shiraz was good!!! Had the sharing platter for entree which was quite a generous serving. The arancini balls on it were divine and I could’ve eaten a whole plate of them! Followed up with crumbed lamb cutlets with mash. Could hardly fit it all in. Highly recommend this place!!

Way back in March for my birthday, Brody treated me to a lunch at The Bank on Collins. It had been on my list to check out after learning that the same owners ran Father’s Office and Asian Beer Cafe. Of course, just because the same owners run multiple businesses doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll all be safe. However, when I contacted The Bank, I am happy to report that they adhere to the same cross-contamination methods. Naturally, I confirmed this when we arrived at the ground floor of 394 Collins Street.

Lucky for us we got the last table available at The Bank on Collins when a last minute decision was made to go for a burger lunch on a Friday. <br/> <br/>They do a $20 meal deal over lunch on a range of dishes from salads to burgers and include a drink of house wine, beer or soft drink in the price. It was always going to be a drink and a burger and chips. We ordered a Fried Chicken Burger, an American Cheese Burger and a Double Cheese Burger.<br/> <br/>My chicken burger was great, the chicken was moist with a delicious buttermilk coating and a tasty slaw. The cheese burgers were well received, they had a good American cheese to patty ratio. One in our group was hungover from last night and claimed his burger provided a suitable cure for said hangover. <br/><br/>KD<br/><br/>

😱Lizzie’s first impression: I have come here many times now and I find the busiest it gets is during Friday lunches and nights. The place used to be a bank so it very spacious and beautiful. <br/><br/>🍩Lizzie enjoyed: Because it’s a big space - they always have room especially for big groups. They also do a $20 express menu which includes a selection of food to choose from and a drink. I love the fried chicken burger and the steak is always a good choice. <br/><br/>🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: I must say the portion size has decreased over the years but for $20, I think it I very bang for your buck. <br/><br/>🥇Lizzie rates overall: The staff are very profressional and the place has a nice ambience to it - highly recommend for group lunches and dinners.

A beautiful location in a 19th century gold-era former bank. Food is OK (I had an acceptable gluten-free salmon), but blimey is it noisy! It has all the ambiance of an aircraft hanger full of party animals. Don't go there for a quiet discussion amongst friends. Go for what it is: an after-work binge hall with a classy interior.

Venue is lovely. Modern decor that blends nicely in the heritage setting. Decent happy hour cocktail. We tried the $35 set menu. I thought the menu was too good to be true for the price and it was. Arancini was okay but 200g rump steak was average. Chips was nice though. I should have tried the ala carte menu instead.
Yu
Average food and nice service. It’s a pretty good place to have some quick meals over there. Fried food was not too bad, but steak and burger might be not considered to have again.

My classmates and I were having dinner at this restaurant. Our meals were Angus steak, Pork belly salad, American cheeseburger and beer. <br/><br/>First of all, when the waiter brought the beverage, he did not have a detailed record, but distributed the drink to us by asking, which made me feel they are unprofessional.<br/><br/>Secondly, when I saw my steak, it was better to say that it was a piece of meat, so that I had no appetite at all, like a weedy salad, a soft fries, and over cooked steak. My classmates even got well-down steak, and his requirements are only medium.<br/><br/>So my classmates asked to change his steak. What’s amazing is that in less than a minute, a cooked steak was in front of us, that lets me feel ridiculous.<br/><br/>The meals of my other classmates are also disasters. The pork belly is harder than the stone: like the hay-like salad, only a few dressing, the burger bun is hard and the meat is flat and tasteless, making it difficult to swallow.<br/><br/>I am very disappointed with this dining experience. I will never dine here again, nor will I recommend this restaurant to my friends.

Is a average restaurant.. At lunch time is very busy is 20$ for a main and a drink. We ate the fish and chips, the steak, the zuccini and macadamia burger and the pork belly sallad this was the worst plate.. they need to improve in the service . We was a group of 20 people And all we are agree this place are average

Came for a delicious dinner on a Friday night. The place was buzzing, a brilliant place for after work drinks and events. In terms of dinner, we had 2 burgers. Absolutely delicious American Cheeseburger and a Beef, Apple and Beetroot burger. We will be back! 🍔🍔🍔

The interior is absolutely divine. Love the high ceiling and the posters decor! Food is surprisingly affordable. This time my friend and I went for the classic parmas which were tasty enough to meet our expectation. The grapefruit fizz mocktail was refreshing and not sugary. The fresh rosemary sprig adds a tasteful aroma. Service was welcoming and nice. Will definitely plan a dinner visit to try out other dishes.

The Bank on Collins has improved a lot in service. Last time we waited for over an hour for the food to arrive but this time it was only approximately 30 mins. I ordered the Halloumi salad, which was very generous in serving & tasted delicious with lots of vegetables. The normal fries were good but not as good as the sweet potato fries. The restaurant is quite cold inside because the entry door is left open so wear something warm at night in winter.

Came here for a team lunch today. Firstly place is gorgeous, such a bummer I forgot to take photos. You get to absorb the history in this building. We had a big group, 20+ people with only 1 hour for lunch. They had a lunch special $20 meal + drink! Perfectly priced and the service was great. Popular dish amongst my colleagues were burgers and steak. I had a pork belly salad and I really enjoyed it. Nice place for a casual lunch with a special atmosphere

Been here a few times with workmates for lunch. If you are looking for somewhere to go for large groups, for decent range of pub sort of meals, for seating in historical architecture &/or for decent priced lunch menu (20$ lunch menu includes drink) then come here. Personally not blown away by burgers, the steak has been hit & miss too, but pretty consistently nice entrees (popcorn chicken, arancinis, chicken poutine). Desserts aren't so bad but sometimes the way it's served ie in a wine glass(?!) isn't really the way to induce enjoyment. Gets really loud too, not sure if they are allowed to install noise dampening features.
The Dear Luncher
AND YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK.<br/> <br/>There are lunch specials, and then there are Bank Lunch specials. A really long list of $20 options – something for everyone. Even that one fussy type that can never decide what they want. You know the type, they’re worried about getting fat, they’re worried about gluten or some thing like that. Then you end up not getting your order in before the huge table next to you and you end and they don’t realise how much of an annoying bugger they’re being ….   SORRY, got a bit side-tracked there.<br/> <br/>The service was a little haphazard initially. It took three explanations of "I’m just after a drink while we wait for others to arrive" to convince the waiter that we were not ordering lunch yet. However, apart from this misunderstanding everything thereafter went smoothly.<br/> <br/>The Dear Luncher was intrigued by the concept of a deep-fried burrito. It was good overall. The jar of salsa looks great, but it was challenging to get it out onto the burrito. In this particular instance something more functional would be better. After being deep-fried, there was a sense of the buritto contents getting compacted a fair bit. And while it still tasted pretty good, it just felt like a mash-up of refried beans and chicken. Everything else inside the casing became subsumed by this.<br/> <br/>Still, for $20 and a schooner of beer on top – this was a pretty good outcome. It’s easy to see why this humongous venue is choc-full of people just about every day of the week.
Wai Chan
Love this place for its lunch special, the $20 steak choice is so worth it, had it probably 5 times and each time the steak is cooked to my specs! But its the mushroom sauce where it shines, only wish it comes with more! The restaurant is nicely set out, comfy seat, so perfect if you want to relax a bit. But make sure you book, but the online booking form is easy to tell when its going to be busy.
Linda
Lovely venue. Great service. Major let down is the very mediocre food. Nonetheless, a good place to meet on Collins St - lots of space, standard pub menu and average price and servings.
Good Food, Good Mood
Accommodated for a large group of 12 at short notice which was appreciated. Got the $20 lunch special - 200g steak with a house red. Colleagues ordered burgers and parmas. Bun was apparently too sweet and didn’t have a nice consistency. Parma didn’t even come with salad which was really unusual. Another colleague ordered the fried burrito and said it was delicious. Great happy hour deals for drinks though and service is quick, friendly and attentive.

I really enjoy lunch at The Bank for several reasons. They have a great $20.00 lunch menu that comes with beer or wine and the food is decent for that price. The service is great and the decor is just beautiful. For these reasons minor issues with the food can be overlooked. For example, the steak is inconsistant - sometimes tender and sometimes tough. My favorite is the Pie with chips and salad. The venue is really good for work lunches or large groups.. and the best part is they split bills! I have never been for dinner or just drinks but can recommend The Bank for lunch.
Split The Bill
I went here with work colleagues on a Friday, as they have some great lunch options for $20, price includes a drink. I had a burger with fries. The burgers consisted of a Angus beef patty marinated in honey, topped with bacon, egg, pineapple, cheese, lettuce, tomato, beetroot chutney, BBQ sauce, Vegemite mayo. Yes Vegemite mayo!!! To me it tasted like salty mayo and I'm gald I've tried it. Great spot for group lunches.

Came here twice: a dinner session and a lunch session. <br/>Ordered: <br/>🥩 250g Eye Fillet (g): Australian grass-fed MSA certified prime beef cooked medium-rare, pan seared and roasted. Served with truffled mash ($34)<br/>🥩 300g Aged Black Angus Rump Steak (g): Australian grass-fed MSA certified Angus rump steak, cooked medium-rare and served with fries and mixed leaf salad ($28)<br/>🍴 Jumbo Classic Parma (g): Topped with a house made Napoli sauce and mozzarella ($28)<br/>🥗 Pork Belly Salad (g) (d+): Slow roasted pork belly pieces with crispy crackling tossed through wild roquette, fresh apple, grilled pineapple pieces with their green apple and honey cider dressing ($19)<br/>🍟 Loaded Cheese Potato Gems (v): $7<br/><br/>🍔 American Cheeseburger: MSA Certified Black Angus beef patty, topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard ($20 lunch menu)<br/><br/>Review: <br/>I really wanted to like this place. It has a gorgeous interior with high gracious ceilings and modern furnishings. A separated bar and dining area allows for two different dining environments. <br/><br/>One of the few recommendations I'd give would be the 250g Eye Fillet which I find us gravitating towards because of its juicy and flavourful texture! <br/>Their aioli dipping sauce was also fun. A grey concoction due to the charcoal that was added in. Doesn't change the taste at all!<br/><br/>From both times I've been, the wait was long and the food too average overall to justify the wait. <br/>Hated the Parma which was tough to chew, streaky and dry. The burger at lunch was also a disappointment. A squashed sad sandwich... even though they toasted the bun to try add more flavour. <br/>I would rather go to Betty's Burgers down the road instead. :(
Heckleard
Next Please!<br/><br/>The only thing you can bank on here is an underwhelming overpriced 'express' lunch. <br/><br/>The venue itself is impressive, the food and drinks were average and overpriced for what i was ordering and what i was served.    <br/><br/>Great place to go for a drink if you're a conceited, egotistical narcissist who does'nt want to leave their natural habitat.<br/><br/>I'll go somewhere else and get the same beer and better food for less with a better atmosphere and..... I'll still be in the same city block.<br/><br/>on the plus side, great hunting location if you're after a sugar daddy. <br/><br/>Heckleard out!

My family and I enjoyed lunch at the Bank yesterday and had a pleasant experience. The lighting is quite dim, and the atmosphere is also quite formal. <br/>The food did not disappoint, the portion sizes were relatively large and each meal was full of flavour. I also enjoyed a martini (yes I know, at lunch, day drinking isn’t thatttt bad right?!), which was surprisingly strong, so I wasn’t complaining about that :P<br/>All in all, a nice fancy spot for a more upper class meal.

Came with my friend for dinner, the service and ambiance are excellent!! Soon as I walk in I can smell Bvlgari au Blanc (not sure if that’s what they use for fragrant), but the bar on the left looks amazing and the dinning area on the right seemed welcoming. <br/><br/>As for food wise I think it was average (I have been spoiled during MFWF), but my friend loved their lamb cutlets. The champagne was lovely, I might not come back for the food, but I definitely be back for quick lunch or after work drink with friends :)<br/>

I’ve dined here a few times but I’ve only tried their steaks! Loved their steak deal; delicious, generously portioned steak at very good prices. Service was prompt and friendly. Lovely artistic venue. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience. Highly recommended.

Great lunch spot, reservation definitely required! Good service and surprisingly affordable prices especially the lunch specials... drinks are a bit expensive but they make great cocktails.

fast service but beef patty was burned. asked for exchange and waited for 45 minutes! all of my friends already finished lunch! it was monday. new beef burger was dry and still slighty burned. average burger for $20 lunch, cannot beat Grilled. btw, flavour of chips was good. i had same burger last year and it was good. some thing changed in the kitchen. also i noticed double fried chicken was changed to single for $20 lunch.

Came here on a scoopon voucher, fantastic service, food was amazing. Had the mixed entree, surf n turf steak cooked to perfection literally melting in my mouth truffle mash (delicious!!) and dessert each . Both ganache and meringue amazing. Plus sparkling and wine. A++++
Simple Eats
I had heard of The Bank on Collins before but had never been, until I found a Scoopon voucher that was too good to pass up! Everything about this place, from the stunning architecture with historic details, to the friendly and hospitable staff who were more than happy to assist with any questions about the menu, to the soft and warm low-lighting to create atmosphere was perfect! Then the food itself... wow! My mate had the beef, apple and beetroot burger and loved it. I had the surf 'n' turf and it was cooked amazingly! Pink and tender on the inside, and paired with the delicious truffled mash, it was easily one of the best mains I've had anywhere! Then the dessert came - milk chocolate ganache with a hint of honey. A tasty way to end what was an incredible dining experience. <br/><br/>Heck, even the toilets were awesome - so retro. Can't wait to come back!

Fell into this place on a whim, how lucky were we. Just the best. The quality, quantity and service was great. The depth of the menu excellent and if the rest of the list are as good as the 7 different dishes we had, what can I say. Will certainly be going back soon.
Spaghetti Monster
I must have walked passed this building countless times not realising it was a restaurant. Anyhoo, I went there with some workmates yesterday and were greeted with friendly smiling faces. Lunch specials were $20 for a good size portion and a usual drink option. I had the pork poutine which although a tad sweet for my palate was still delicious and I ate it with gusto. The burger and chicken salad ordered by friends also looked great. Definitely a great spot to know bang in the middle of the CBD and I will be coming here again for sure.

Really enjoyed our mid week Scoopon date night.<br/><br/>2 glasses of sparkling on arrival.<br/><br/>Entree platter of Pork Belly , Oysters , Arancini Balls and warm bread with cultured butter.<br/><br/>2 house drinks with mains.<br/><br/>Tried Surf n Turf and the Barramundi as mains accompanied by sides of Truffled Mash and Pea, Mint and Feta Salad.<br/><br/>Finished of with Eton Mess for dessert.<br/><br/>Great Value!!

Went for a midweek lunch with a friend. Me - fish and chips. Friend - Caesar salad. My friend tells me the salad was reasonable. I dunno. I think there was some fruit element added to the salad and no mention of anchovy. My fish and chips were incredibly oily to the point where the chips weren’t at all enjoyable. I virtually never let chips go to waste but this time I had to! The service was friendly and quick to be seated and served. Took a bit longer to pay and leave. The interior is interesting and partially beautiful. Worth checking out at least once.

Had a lovely dinner tonight at the bank. Its duch a beautiful old building. We had the $69 three course meal scoopon (for two). Very good value in our opinions. The service was lovely & they catered for my dietary requirements without any fuss. We will be back for sure..<br/>In the scoopon, you get a tasting plate of all the entres on offer, then we chose the barramundi & surf & turf options for main, both were delicious. Dessert we chose the eton mess & chocolate ganache all topped off with a glass of bubbles & red/white wine or beer.. very enjoyable!<br/><br/>27.12.18:<br/>Came tonight for our Anniversary dinner.. great gf and vegan burger bun, with the beef, apple and beetroot burger.. burger was very juicy and flavoursome, i replaced the cheese with vegan mago which is so nice to be able to do.. service was a bit blah tonight. Overall, happy to come back for vegan/gf menu options.. Hubby had the "veggies with that palma" which he enjoyed and was a good size..

Firstly, love the interiors of this restaurant and bar which have been designed to look like a palace. I happened to visit here because my friend stays in the apartments above. And truly it was the best decision. We ordered chicken poutine which has become my new favorite. It's a mix of everything I like. Fries, shredded chicken, fried chicken, gravy and cheese curd. I haven't come across this dish at many places. I also ordered Mac and cheese which was good too after adding a little salt and pepper for me. My friends ordered a giant pineapple cheeseburger and other dishes which came in sufficient portions and left us satisfied. The taste I must say was commendable. The prices well justified. 5 stars from me.

What a treasure to find one of the older buildings in the CBD repurposed instead of torn down and another glass and steel tower built in it's place.<br/>I had the $20 lunch special - my cous cous salad arrived warm and with a lovely squidgy bit of fried haloumi on top - lovely!<br/>The only real downer about the place is the noise.  It is very loud, but obviously the owners can't put soundproofing tiles up on the ceiling as it is a beautiful feature of the place.  I don't know how this problem can be overcome, but it is very intrusive.  But if you are just stopping in for a quick lunch that is a bit better than sandwiches or fast food, this is it.

We had our EOY lunch here for 100+ppl and it was awesome. It was organised and they were very accommodating we were well looked after. Despite us getting some orders wrong they didnt charge us extra. The menu was good for $20 and I had no complaints. The building is very nice and would recommend for lunch esp a large group.<br/>Drinks were also cheap and everyone seems extremely happy.

The beef, apple and beetroot burger with fries was great - very well balanced with some freshness from the apple and fennel. Beetroot was sweet, tender and juicy. Tasty and good value (food: 4/5).<br/><br/>Stayed for Friday night happy hour and tried the apple martini (nice) and espresso martini (excellent - strong and smooth, and nice coffee hit). (drinks: 4/5).<br/><br/>Nice atmosphere - the decor is perfect for a casual pre-movie meal/drink, but also classy enough to impress. Bathrooms are small but clean and renovated. Service was fantastic - floor staff were efficient, warm (and quite funny too) and professional. They also allowed our big group split the bill which was a huge plus. (service/ambience: 5/5).

Points for: ambience, interior, specials<br/>Dine Time: Weekend dinner<br/><br/>The Bank on Collins features a very impressive open interior, where the ceiling goes all the way up to the 2nd floor, and a theme that recreates old school bank tellers. <br/>I've been to the bar after work, where they have an excellent happy hour and plenty of space to mingle.<br/>The happy hour also extends to Sat night from 6-9pm, and is also available on the restaurant side, which is quite rare - $5 wines? Awesome.<br/><br/>The pan seared salmon was seasoned well and had a lovely crispy skin, however it spent a bit long on the pan, as the rest of it was overcooked and dry. It paired well with the quinoa salad though, where the tahini and craisins, gave the dish a bit of juiciness.<br/><br/>Good flavour from the stuffed field mushroom, I love the goats cheese adding to the earthy dish - however at $12, you only get 1 mushroom. The thick balsamic glaze is a bit 90s though. <br/><br/>Service was quite attentive, one of our waiters was very friendly and casual, but not too overbearing. <br/><br/>For a Saturday night, it wasn't too busy, which is a bit of a shame because it's a great venue.

A modern venue with wooden table and dim lighting. The place is quiet social and lively. Double fried chicken burger is amazing. Crispy filling and will seasoned. Duo pork board is average. Slow cooked pork is well seasoned but the pork was too dry. Chips with special seasoning has a mix of flavours and tasted sweet with a hint of five spice but could be wrong.

Came here as part of a large group and got to try various items. For the most part their starters were nice, most notably their pork belly was tender and crackling satisfyingly crisp. Their bread with herbed butter, natural oysters and mozzarella arancini balls were also a textbook crowd pleasers. <br/>For our mains the barramundi was delicate and flakey with a slightly crispy skin served with salsa verde. Decent but would have prefered a different accompaniment personally. The consensus around the table of those who got the steak was that it was tough, one quoted "it's still mooing". Meals were served with a side salad and onion rings, batter was thick and chewy. <br/>As for dessert I tasted their chocolate ganache, not my favourite thing as it was too overly sweet for me but some others enjoyed it. Had the choice to taste their popcorn panna cotta but after what I just had I was on a sugar high.<br/>Not a cocktail connoisseur but I didn't enjoy the ones I sampled and others concurred. <br/>Lovely spacious building, not bad for catering large groups. They should do something about the flies as there were a couple hovering around our table.

Super impressed - originally was trying to book a large group in at Father's Office but they didn't have room and suggested The Bank instead (same owners and same menu). Glad we went with it as it was perfect for our needs. Can get a little noisy but a beautiful venue regardless. Everyone was happy with the food which was very well priced and drinks as well. Staff were lovely and accommodating (we arrived an hour early) and ensured we had a great night out!
Little Bit Of Everything
Visited the Bank on a Saturday for lunch while we had to wait on a friend who was arriving late. Absolutely love the venue with high ceilings and tall pillars. Located in the heart of the city. We got the $20 lunch deal such good value for money. Service did not take that long and we did not mind waiting either as the deal came with a glass of wine or beer. I got their cheese burger made to perfection with a juicy moist patty and a lot of chips thats i could not finish.'<br/>Friendly staff and ambient atmosphere. It does get busy during lunch times.

AND YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK :)<br/><br/>So I was walking down Collins Street looking for a place to get Mexican as I was in the mood for a burrito. I was thinking about Taco Bill but then I chanced to walk past The Bank on Collins. I looked at the sign and it said $20 lunch deal so I went in. It was a bit early and the nice waiter offered me a good seat so I waited for my Burrito. <br/><br/>When it came out it looked a bit different to what I'm used to when it comes to burritos but I still dug in and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Nicely cooked chicken, veg and other ingredients, refried beans and it had a bit of spice to it. All in all very tasty and it came with chips. I've heard good things about their burgers too.<br/><br/>Decor is a bit old style in this building and I like it, it has a touch of class to it. As I was leaving the place soon became packed with a lunch time crowd so clearly I'd made the right dining choice. Service was great, staff were very nice, welcoming and professional. Would I come here again? Absolutely... And you can take that to The Bank :)

Trendy modern venue with cheap appetizers with drinks. $1 arancini balls, average but cheap! Bought a drink during happy hour and they charged me full price.

Went here on a work lunch and chose from the express menu. Got the 200g beef with side salad and chip. Meat was a little disappointing as asked for medium rare and was more to the medium-well done. Service was quick.

I have been here for Friday lunch for 2 weeks straight. They offer a great $20 lunch which includes a main and a drink. Service is friendly, good selection on the menu, the double fried chicken burger is delish! <br/>Always a busy spot due to its location and size, but can be a little drafted due to its large open space. <br/><br/>Also on offer is an excellent drinks happy hour! From 5-7 then 8-10.

The Bank on Collins is located on a prominent corner site on Collins Street and listed as the Australian Heritage building.<br/>The restaurant / bar is spacious and the interior design is very stylish and modern.<br/>We enjoyed the ambience and vibe in this restaurant, it's a top class.<br/><br/>We bought a Scoupon deal $25.00 for two people *choose one starter and main dish + 1 drink (tea/coffee).<br/><br/>We ordered Chai latte (powder Chai) and flat white.<br/><br/>The starter menu as the followings and we chose the one with **(double asterisk)    <br/>1. Vanilla cinnamon porridge with poached seasonal fruits    <br/>2. **Tropical coconut and pineapple soaked granola topped with fresh strawberries and coconut sorbet**    <br/>3. **Honey, cinnamon and apple bircher muesli with poached seasonal fruits and pistachios**<br/>4. Fresh fruit plate with a minted sugar and coconut yoghurt<br/><br/>The main menu as the followings and we chose the one with **(double asterisk) <br/>1. Pancakes with vanilla ice cream, icing sugar and maple syrup <br/>2. **Smashed avocado with goats cheese and lemon or organic sourdough** <br/>3. **Scrambled eggs with stuffed mushroom on organic sourdough** <br/>4. Free range eggs on organic sourdough toast<br/><br/>The soaked granola with coconut sorbet was really good. You could taste the freshness of all the fruits soaked in Granola.<br/>For me, the taste of sorbet was fantastic and everything went well together.<br/>It balanced the tanginess of the pineapple in the granola and sweet fresh feeling of everything else in the dishes.<br/>This is a perfect choice if you like fresh and cold starter. **3.5/5.0<br/><br/>If you prefer a sweeter and warmer option like my mate the bircher muesli would be your choice.<br/>It was done beautifully and muesli wasn't too soft. <br/>You can also opt for a different kind of milk if you're lactose intolerant. **3.0/5.0<br/><br/>The smashed avocado was freshly made and perfectly well together with goat cheese.<br/>It was delicious but not extraordinary - what can go wrong with avocado toast anyway. **3.0/5.0<br/><br/>The scrambled eggs with stuffed mushroom was the winner compared to another main dish ordered.<br/>The stuffed mushroom topped with goat cheese drizzled with balsamic sauce was the best.<br/>It was a simple homey dish that was executed perfectly; The omelette was very fluffy topped on the toasted sourdough.<br/>We loved every bite of this dish. ** 4.0/5.0<br/><br/>Starter and main dishes offered by Bank Collins were absolutely fantastic.<br/>Overall, It was a nice experience to have breakfast in Bank Collins.<br/><br/>Service : 3.5<br/>Taste : 3.5<br/>Price : 5.0<br/>Speed : 3.0<br/><br/>Yay : Good deal due to Scoupon deal, great taste<br/>Nay : N/A<br/><br/>Location : 394 Collins Street, CBD<br/>Phone : 03 9825 8990<br/>Website : thebankoncollins.com.au

Went out for an impromptu Saturday night dinner at the Bank on Collins with Mr B.  Reviews seemed reasonable for a not too pricey affair and their online booking system said they had a table available at short notice.  <br/><br/>Absolutely impressed by the dining hall set up here.  The lights, architecture and decor all mix to make for a stunning room with a lively, yet refined atmosphere.<br/><br/>Staff were quite professional and plentiful and gave us adequate time to order our food.  For an entree we went for a combination of their signature arancini, picking the truffled mushroom and pumpkin options.  They were quite delightful and satisfying.  For mains Mr B had the Spiced Salmon Salad and I had the Cinammon Calamari.  We shared a side of the mac & cheese.  Our mains were also quite tasty and very large for the cost. Our side of mac & cheese however, was really bland which seemed quite out of place considering how tasty everything else seemed to be.  It was almost like they had completely forgotten to season it! <br/><br/>At the end of the meal we were quite happy with our choices and the experience.  The food was nothing fancy, but certainly good and excellent value.  The mac & cheese to be fair. needs some work.  Will certainly visit again for a casual meal with family or friends for decent sized meals in impressive surrounds.

Nice ambience and nicely made cocktail for Friday afternoon drink. Their tapas also not bad. Happy hours time offers good selection of wine amd cocktail.

For $20 lunch - a great meal and a drink all in the heart of the CBD.<br/>As you can imagine, this place gets busy and very quick so make sure you do a reservation and get in just before 12 to get a head start. Everyone is a tad more attentive if you're first in. The service was excellent and the meals were varied and full of great flavours and again all for a great price too.<br/>Loses a point for our drinks coming out 3/4 into the meal. ☹️

Visited BoC for my sisters birthday. Great server, happy and friendly. Started with drinks, they didn't have a standard whiskey so I replaced it with another which I'm fine with but was a little strange for a place like this. <br/>Ordered food next, really amazing flavours, I had the eye fillet steak which was perfectly done, the truffle mash was spectacular and would return for it. I asked for a repeat of my whiskey and they ran out of the one the one which was already my second choice, that was poor on their part. <br/>Skipped dessert, but took ages to ask for the cheque. <br/>Overall good experience, staff were great, food was good, drinks experience could have been better. <br/>WIR- yes.
Tinmans Treats
I went here with work colleagues as they have a range of $20 lunch specials. . This burger was EPIC in size. (Black Angus beef patty marinated in honey, topped with bacon, egg, pineapple, cheese, lettuce, tomato, beetroot chutney, BBQ sauce, Vegemite mayo.) For $20 served with chips and drink makes this a great work lunch option. Staff are friendly and accommodating, and the interior is great, it has a sense of history as its a restored and renovated bank building. Great for group lunches as there is something for most people's tastes.

When you walk in the place looks timeless. The furniture and decor is beautiful. The food is delicious and very well priced. There's plenty for vegetarians. The service was great too and very attentive. I loved it and can't wait to go back!
Belle Eats Melbourne
Disappointing is the word I'd use to describe The Bank. The atmosphere is amazing: it's the former treasury building and is steeped in history. But the food was unhealthy, boring and badly executed. I ordered a burger and asked for lettuce instead of bread as was offered in the menu. The waiter wasn't very attentive and my meal arrived in the usual burger buns. The meat inside was incredibly dry and the whole thing was rather tasteless. The alcohol specials during happy hour were very good value. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend.
I Love Food
Dined here on Sat night as a group of 4. Beautiful building – loved the interior and the atmosphere. We enjoyed the giant mushroom stuffed with macadamia nuts & goats cheese, pork belly with pear & apple, arancini balls and the pork & chicken skin scratchings (basically chicken & pork crackling in a bowl – yum) for entrée. I ordered the pan seared salmon for main – I advised our waitress I had an allergy to almonds but could eat all other nuts – she didn’t listen very well as my main came without the pistachio’s and craisins (not related to my allergy at all) so I was disappointed by this as the dish wasn’t as good as it could have been with these additions. Other dining partners ordered the crumbed lamb cutlets (had a taste of these and they were delicious), eye fillet and beef, apple & beetroot burger. All were happy with their meals. We also ordered sides to share – mac/cheese and onion rings however they never arrived – we advised the wait staff half way into our mains not to bother and were told the kitchen forgot to make our sides. For dessert we shared the salted caramel & popcorn panna cotta, eton mess & caramel & nutella pie – all these desserts were very tasty and a good way to finish the night. Overall the food was tasty and well priced but the service was very slow and unattentive. We ordered a few rounds of drinks which consisted of cocktails and beers and each time we were left waiting for a long time and having to ask where our drinks were. The sides being overlooked was also disappointing. The place was busy and there seemed to be enough staff on hand but they weren’t very attentive to the tables they were meant to be looking after. We had a few entertainment book vouchers so got a decent discount off the total bill also which was nice. I would like to say I’ll return as we did enjoy the food and the atmosphere and it’s a nice building to dine in, however the lack of service and having to wait long periods for drinks and food never coming to the table will affect that. Also we booked online and then couldn’t get a hold of the restaurant via phone to change our numbers. Its all done via the online booking service which is only open Mon-Fri during business hours. I did end up emailing the address and someone did reply promptly so it maybe gets checked but I was surprised that you couldn’t physically call the restaurant and speak to someone over the weekend anytime?

This place is grand. Something you would see out of the movies. High ceilings and Gothic designs give this place a strong atmosphere. The wait staff and service here is impeccable. Incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding. There wasn't any disappointment with any of the choices we made. Will come back here in future.

I rang in advance saying over 40 people would be coming for Friday drinks and they said there was more than enough space. Well there certainly wasn't more than staff, as you had to wait about 20 minutes for a drink at the bar. The oysters were good though.
Liulull2006
Went with a cropping voucher.<br/>Other than the nice building, service as good. Went there on Saterday night at 5:30. Tried to avoid the busiest time because other ratings said it's very crowded and loud when full. Wasn't too bad for this night.<br/>Restaurant had scoopon menu ready on table, which made things very smooth. <br/>Food was ok, liked the oyster, steak was very nicely cooked and lamb was not bad. Dessert was nice too. But steak mushroom sauce was a bit too creamy and tasteless. <br/>Bread in the entree was like just cut from purchased bread, nothing special. <br/>Overall great girls night out!

Starter platter we had fresh oystrers, arancini balls, crispy pork belly and bread with cultured butter. The Arancini balls were very flavoursome crunchy on the outside creamy and filled with mozzarella and truffle mayo on the inside. The pork belly, had crispy skin with tender meat garnished with pear and apple compote, delicious. For main main we had surf and turf and beef, apple and beetroot burger with Mac and cheese and truffled mash for sides. The burger was a failure as the patty was dry and over cooked and the bun was not toasted or warmed before serving. Our steak was ment to be cooked medium rare but it was definitely served medium well. For drinks we had Lindeman’s Brut Cuvée Sparkling followed by their house Shiraz to go with our main. The Shiraz had the 90s cough syrup aftertaste which was definitely an acquired taste. I didn't enjoy it.<br/>To finish off we had milk chocolate ganache with cointreau chantilly cream and Eton mess with meringue, fresh berries and raspberry sorbet. Quite enjoyed the Eton mess with a light refreshing taste of the fresh berries and a hint of brunt honeycomb. The place becomes quite noisy during peak lunch hour but if you were going after 1-1.30pm it's quite a pleasant area to spend your afternoon.

Met up with some friends here for dinner on a Tuesday night. Menu is pretty diverse. Lots of gluten free options and lots of meaty options. We had the sampler platter to share, which was so big.. luckily there was a few of us. I tried the Camembert cheese and calamari. Which were both very nice. And had the fried chicken burger with fries. Chicken was pretty juicy. But the bun itself was a little dry and fries were okay. Just were a little bit cold. Service was super friendly, and love the look and feel of the restaurant. Relaxing and nice atmosphere.

Went there with a Scoopon breakfast deal. It was a great value for money. Nice restaurant in a historical building, very friendly service and food was beautiful. Loved it :)

We discovered this gem through a Scoopon voucher and are thrilled. We will be back. Everything we ate was enjoyable - in fact, my husband who doesn't much enjoy pork belly loved his serve in the shared entrees. If you're in the city, don't miss this restaurant set in a charming old bank... of course. Lovely service too so nothing to complain about at all.

Service is exceptional!! Even for a group lunch and all special requests are no problem and the $20 lunch and beverage special is great!!! Thank you!!

Been here with vouchers for breakfast and dinner and all I can say is service and food are excellent!  The staff were attentive with drinks and food and checking on us to make sure we are all doing well.  Food were delicious and plenty of food incl in the voucher.  And absolutely delicious.  Will definitely go back.
YumYum
Just had dinner there with a large group and we had a great time! Service was friendly and prompt!food was very nice and I loved the fact that it could cater for gluten free and vegan. Drinks great too! The place itself is beautiful and makes the atmosphere special! Staff are actually smiling and not looking stressed like other busy places! Awesome night! <br/><br/>There was also a misunderstanding with my booking but it was rectified promptly and with a great service! Thank you!<br/><br/>We used the entertain book vouchers! Bonus! <br/><br/>I highly recommend it!

Great lunch special at only $20! This includes a main and an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. We got seated instantly and didn't have to wait/queue even without a booking. Service was fast and food was delicious! Great value!
Gee
Classy venue with humongous ceilings and a boardwalk around the edge looking down into the main restaurant. Had the steak and chips which was reasonable and cheap. Cheap cut of meat, but at $15 you can't complain, lacking much pepper sauce and the chips a little undercooked but the surrounds made up for it.
Aldijana Dedic
Wow what a building; absolutely stunning. We were greeted by friendly staff seated and there qas a slight confusion at who was serving us, which is not a big deal really. But when ordered starters we dis not get side plates and the starters were served on small plates more like saucers which was slightly annoying. But the taste and great food in general made up for it not to mention the really friendly staff. Seems like they were new so they did ask us to write a little review so they would be able to improve their service. We liked it and will be back for sure
Heidi
Checked out the bank on Collins for dinner with friends as I had the entertainment book voucher. I didn't realise it was such a cool building, it's huge, with high ceilings and heaps of tables too. My friend and I shared the quinoa and haloumi salad and the pork board with slow cooked pulled pork<br/>and slow roasted BBQ pork with crackling, and slaw and tortilla chips. It was all quite nice but I'd say the heat time I go back it will be just for drinks. They have a good selection of cocktails and have happy hour too!

Great interior - feels like you really have walked into either an old bank or even a hotel lobby with the rooms upstairs. It's very open and you're instantly greeted with well-dressed and warm staff.<br/><br/>Friends and I took advantage of the $20 lunch deals. They're handy value as you can get a substantial meal plus your choice of a cider, beer, red etc for just $20. My Pork Belly salad was nice but was lacking a little in variety; the pork belly should've been more crispy too.<br/><br/>Hard to complain with the value though!
Kate Dougherty
Decent for a basic and casual dinner. Venue is very cool architecture wise and the drink specials are top notch. Food isn't quite so spectacular though. I ordered the spicy salmon salad and whilst it was tasty there was a massive long black hair in it when it arrived. I also had a bug in my wine. I do tend to be a bit of a germaphobe but I think most people would be a little put off by those events. Otherwise was fine for a relaxed dinner in the city.

The Bank on Collins, great location right in the heart of the CBD, great building and great setup with the themes of the old bank.<br/>First thing I noticed, sticky tables witch wasn't great, asked for an extra hot coffee and it came lukewarm, food gets a pass mark, but that might be because it was an hour wait and was very hungry, staff are very friendly and they were very apologetic about the wait for the meal, probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back.
Lan Thanh Le
I bought $25 Scoopon. Sounds like good value but we have to wait 2 hours for scrambled egg on toast. Very bad experience. The granola tasted like left over bread crumb in defrosted jelly. <br/><br/>So disappointed...
Stu
Came here for lunch with a group of friends. The old building is beautiful and has been renovated nicely. We ate from the $20 lunch menu. All the meals looked good and I think all my friends enjoyed theirs. The staff we very friendly as well. Can't say my meal was anything special though. I ordered the Caesar salad which was just OK. The meals came with a drink, but for $20 I would've expected a better meal. I also didn't like the way they changed the ingredients of the Caesar, shouldn't mess with a classic and if you do, call it something else.
FOOD TRIP
The Bank on Collins is an eatery that’s open from early morning to late into the night. They are conveniently located for guests staying at the Treasury on Collins as they are in the same building. Came here for breakfast. The dining area is set up nicely but the food is average. Skim Cappuccino $3.50
Melanie SRG
I went here for breakfast with my husband after purchasing a Scoopon for a two course breakfast and drink. Set up in he old bank building, it keeps some of the character of its past through the brilliant artistic murals. The vanilla and cinnamon porridge was delicious!!!! Also tried the scrambled eggs on sourdough with stuffed mushrooms which was tasty too.
Adric Sommer
Fantastic food, location and service! Much like Jamie's Italian in Adelaide, this restaurant is based in an old bank! Relaxing casual atmosphere and very tasty well priced foods a great draw card! The beef pie is delicious!
JiKiDiR
A "go to" place when craving for meat and drinks at a reasonable price. Ambience is good albeit noisy. Don't mind coming back here again and again.
Holly Taylor
Great! Amazing service. Quality food. Definitely the best Scoopon deal @ $25 for 2 people. And the historic building makes for great atmosphere. Only a few minor things I would change in relation to the bathroom location and the early finish breakfast instead of all day brunch.
J88
Excellent value for money Scoopon breakfast deal for two at $25. Great friendly service, cozy ambience and delicious quality breakfast. Nothing to complain .. and we love the old architecture.
Arnaud Michelin
Food was very good, fresh and came really fast.<br/>I ordered a BLT + E sandwich and it was great.<br/>Service was good although not exceptional.<br/>The place is built in an old bank. They retained the character of the old building which is great.

The good news on this Sunday is ....... <br/><br/>The old heritage bank building has resurfaced, the hotel was re-opened 4 years ago and the dining room since October 2015, and the featured toilet is still upstairs in the mezzanine, hallelujah!<br/><br/>I wonder where it went as we used to go there for one of the "fine dining" experience in Melbourne and overnights, it was one of the most enjoyable hotel you can stay in Melbourne, so will find an opportunity to try it soon.<br/><br/>Sunday is the only day for breakfast in the City, where you can drive your family in a car as parking is so much easier, just like the old good days.<br/><br/>The dining room is operated by a new "experienced" owner, they operated a few other restaurants in Melbourne.<br/><br/>Refurbished, keeping that opulence and the old grandeur style of the yesteryear, while changing its tune in terms of their set-up and menu; <br/><br/>- more casual, modernised vibrant colours set up, crockery referencing to those era, got to love those while keeping most of its heritage details intact, yes, a space we can all admire and enjoy<br/><br/>- no cataloque menu, very short, a few specials for lunches and dinners too on the board, check out their website; $15 rump steak night, fish & chips, etc.<br/><br/>Well uniformed and proper floor staff, most pleasant too, no funky tatts that I can see, well covered.<br/><br/>From their "packaged" breakfast menu we've ordered a few; entree and main, comes with a drink; coffee, tea, juice, etc. <br/><br/>So, coffee are above average, nothing extra 'special" but well made.<br/><br/>Food wise, mix result, entrees all good, especially the vanilla cinnamon porridge and fruit platter, presentation A+. <br/><br/>On the main, lack of seasoning is the common theme and burnt bacon, oh no, can't have that on Sundays. see photos.<br/><br/>For what it was, worth re-visiting, especially for the dining experience encapsulated within a heritage "Gold Rush" era building. 09/10/2016.

great value for an inner city lunch deal, I had the quinoa salad which was fresh and tasty and a very generous serve. will definitely be back!

What a surprise! Nice comfortable spacious venue with excellent service, the bank on Collins is open 7 days a week with long opening hours~ Their lunch sets and breakfast sets are at great value with generous potions. Food and drinks were fresh and tasty. Overall, great food, great place and great service🖒

I came over here just by accident one day for lunch, the place looks good, great hospitality and super valued lunch OMG!!! I got the ribs and everything here is awesome

A spacious set up that's perfect for lunch or after work drinks. The $20 lunch deals are fantastic, with a variety of dishes paired with a wine or beer. It took a while to get some service, and I made a point by running up to a waiter after sitting around for 20 minutes. We ordered the fried buttermilk chicken burger and the zucchini and macadamia patty burger. Both were very fresh and tasty and went well with our Monteith's pale ales! We'll be back again to try the rest of the fabulous lunch menu which includes some great classics such as meat pie, fish n chips and Caesar salad.

Spacious atmosphere. I've visited this place twice and have been impressed at their lunch menu and value for price. Both times I had the zucchini and macadamia burger. Burger is moist and tasty. The pumpkin bun is delicious and the beetroot chutney is so tasty. Staff are very friendly and price ($20) very affordable for the generous serve. I recommend for an inner city lunch haunt.
Whats On The Grill?
Large bar with pub food. It literally feels like you are in an old fashioned bank which means it's named well but not sure it's the atmosphere I look for in a pub/bar. Food was pub-like with being solid without anything overly spectacular. Good value for money. We had a bottle of wine, bowl of chips, bowl of onion rings, meat pie, barramundi all for $100.

After work drinks here last night and after trying the arancini balls, I had to leave a review. The best arancini balls ever! Gotta try them if you ever go there. The Bank is a large space, classy interior and offers good specials. Friday night happy hours can mean waiting 20 mins at the bar to order and 45 mins for food.

Though I walk down Collins St every day, somehow I have managed to never see The Bank. Our group of 7 stopped in for a bite to eat last night as well as grab a few birthday drinks for my wife.<br/><br/>There were veggie burgers and steaks ordered but my $27 450g rib-eye had to have been the stand out dish! Cooked medium rare and served within 10min of ordering.<br/><br/>Some really good cocktail too!

I was there for a farewell dinner on Monday. Selected burgers and drinks are on specials on Mondays. The food was great, my fried chicken burger with french fries was perfect, I could easily give 4 here. But I have to take away one score because: <br/>1. the bills arrived with all the original prices, not the Monday specials, I had to point it out for them to re-issue a correct one;<br/>2. I sat on one of these velvet couches against the long wall on the right, and found 3 flea bites behind my right knee even before I left the restaurant. These seats have got to be cleaned!
