Located on the Southern entrance to the market; Burhan Espresso Bar is a great place to stop for a takeaway coffee to have while you browse the market. They have a small food menu and your typical pastry display, but I like to just stop for my coffee.
With a few tables for dining in, and pleasant service and staff; Burhan's is reasonably priced and they also have beans to take away as well. It's definitely a good coffee shop and a great way to start a day at the markets.
Only had takeaway coffee, so can't judge on the food, but I thought it was fine. Probably not as good as Padre's up the other end of the aisle, but a bit cheaper and much less wait time. Service was very good.
OK for a market meal. I popped in for a quick coffee and pastry whilst doing some grocery shopping at the market and was not displeased. My mug of flat white ($4) had a harsh, slightly acrid note to the flavour -- not really unpleasant, just not as smooth and nut-like as I prefer. It's the flavour profile I associate with Illy coffee, although Burhan's uses beans, not pods. If I had to choose between here and Padre a bit further east up that back market lane, I'd go Padre. On the plus side for Burhan's, they have more seating and a better selection of freshly prepared hot breakfast dishes. People around me seemed pleased with theirs. I just had an almond croissant ($4.50) which was large and tasty. It would have been great heated in an oven, but Burhan's is too busy of a Saturday morning to ask for fancy stuff. The baristas and waitstaff were quick and polite about getting food/coffee to the tables.
