Mamacita Foodie And Hola Con Lola

Love miss chu! So close to work, good food, clean space. The only thing is they closed so early!!
Looking for dinner in the area. Problem with south melbourne is there arent too many choices like cbd, windsor, south yarra, fitzroy etc. Accidentially walkin in to miss.chu surprisingly good.
A couple outlets of Misschu one in CBD, another in South Melbourne. We visited the one at Cecil St, South Melbourne. There’s a big contrast in rating for the two outlets… I enjoyed the food. We arrived at 2.30-3pm, so the restaurant was pretty quiet with mainly 2-3 staff working. Misschu is casual dining with Vietnamese-fusion flavours. A rustic setting with bits of decor that reminds you of Asia. Badminton shuttle cocks were just one of the subtle decor I noticed, cute. Tables are available for solos, couples or larger groups. The dining area is considered large for a cafe in South Melbourne.

This place seems to be popular among Uber Eaters for some unknown reason LOL The shop itself is not bad, just sometimes it can get too busy and the staffs couldn't give you much attention.
The foods are full of favours and very authentic in their tastes. Here are the must-orders:
(1) Pork & Prawn wrapped with crispy rice paper *Hanoi Spring Roll* I can eat 10 serves of that!!
(2) Lemongrass Beef (prefer to serve with vermicelli salad)
Amazing and refreshing lemongrass taste - super tender beef slices
(3) Red Rice dishes
Highly recommended!! I'm usually very skeptical to order brown rice / red rice from restaurant as they could get really hard and chewy when cooking is not properly timed. Red rice from Miss Chu is always fluffy, with nice ricely fragrant. Way to go with your high fibre diet!!
I didn't have any lunch at work today so my colleague and I ordered through Uber Eats.
I ordered the lemongrass beef vermicelli which was so delicious it had such a zingy sauce. All the ingredients worked so well together and I was hoeing into that bowl like no tomorrow!
My colleague and I shared the vegetable spring rolls which were nice, I only had 1 though as I was so full from the noodles.
I must admit there was some food envy from the other staff members in the tea room haha I think there will be another Uber Eats order very soon!
We ordered the prawn & crab spring roll vermicelli salad & only received spring rolls. This has now happened 3 times. All was resolved in the end & food always tastes amazing.
Went to Miss Chu on 20/11/17 with my Aunty.
Food was full of flavour ✅✅✅
Order at the counter, reasonably quick service
Clean and roomy restaurant
A self serve (infused) water station ✅✅✅
Value for money ✅✅✅
Nice experience, will definitely go back.
This place has it all going on. Probably the best Chicken Salad in Melbourne ( Tumeric chicken with a crunchy slaw ), great Salmon with XO sauce but also the worst Peking Duck pancakes you can ever have which they price at $4 each. Their service is awesome one day and terrible the next. There are inconsistencies in their cafe but still a very good place for lunch. Their dumplings are good but the stuff near the bottom of the menu is great.
Love this place for lunch. Popcorn chicken, salads, dumplings & vegie spring rolls are favourites! Quick service, yummy food...and love the decor!
Yes friends MissChu delivers. Both literally and figuratively. They've gotten me through the day at lunch when the craving strikes and through the night when working late hangry. The prawn haw gao are SENSATIONAL but a word of warning regarding the tuna rice paper rolls they arrive with a liberal smearing of wasabi so if you don't care for that vibrant green condiment let them know when you order as I've made the mistake more than once. I love the frozen coconut crush with pineapple and mint too 🙌🏼🙌🏼
My partner labels MissChu pretentious as you generally wait in line at the South Yarra restaurant but with this takeaway option everybody's happy!
