Upstairs is a beautiful room with a good view of the kitchen, a little noisy but the food was delicious with fresh ingredients all done with care.
Pure South is a great venue and the food was very impressive and beautifully presented; service was okay however it was obvious more staff were definitely required to manage the number of diners. I am hesitant to refer friends as the noise level on the night we dined was over the top. Not conducive to an enjoyable, relaxing evening. We literally had to yell at each other at the table to conduct a conversation and so, from this perspective, it was rather disappointing.
This place has always been amazing but after undertaking a huge renovation it just keeps getting better. Predominantly local Tasmanian cuisine, which has always been super fresh & delicious! The chefs here are absolutely fantastic :-)

Delicious feeding ground in the centre of Southbank!
📍Located directly across from Flinders Street Station on Southbank, Pure South Dining offers a dining experience of pure quality.
💲Whilst the prices are higher than other lunch locations in the area, it also provides a higher standard.
📸 Pictured are the Hotcakes from the breakfast menu. Paired it with some morning Mimosas - perfect!

The renovated Pure South Dining has a big presence on Southgate, being located at a major intersection along the Yarra. We had dinner here and the dishes were generally good. The service was also professional and friendly. The views are definitely a plus for the location.
We shared the scallops, octopus and kingfish entrees, and had the beef cheek, blue cod, eye fillet and pork for mains. We also had the broccolini and chips as sides. I enjoyed the scallop entree the most - it came with a bisque that was decadent and tasty. The octopus and kingfish were also quite good though.
For the mains, I was quite disappointed with my pork. It was supposed to be a mix of pork loin and pork belly, but the dish came with 2 larger pieces of loin, and only one small piece of belly (I was expecting at least a 50/50 of belly). But the main issue I have with it is there was a lot of fat on all the pork. Even the strip of pork that came with the scallop entree was almost entirely fat. The same went for my pork main. The fat is important in giving it a moist consistency, and I could tell all the dishes were well treated, but I really wasn't interested in eating mostly fat. The other mains were decent, though admittedly not exceptional. The eye fillet I thought could have been a little warmer but was otherwise good. The chips were not as crispy as I thought they would be, but the seasoning was quite tasty and I ate more than I thought I would. The inside of the chips were quite soft and there were some crunchy outside bits, so it was quite nice. The broccolini was also nicely done.
Overall, I can't say that I was very impressed with the food given the prices, but aside from the pork, that may have just been my particular taste. Nevertheless, the food was all well prepared and if the menu attracts you I think it is worth a try.
Beautiful breakfast menu with lots on offer - hot cakes were certainly something different but tasted wonderful. Service was prompt and staff friendly
Good food with the Tasmanian focus being the highlight. Portion size could be a little more generous but still not bad. Nice wine list with some value options to be had. Service was solid despite a busy night.
Love love this place. If you’re looking for great quality food and an awesome selection of drinks to go with it, this is the place. The dining area was upstairs so we also had a lovely view overlooking the Yarra river.
Everything was absolutely amazing.
A very nice dining experience - with a wonderful view. The service from when we walked in was very inviting and no judgement from the staff. The atmosphere was great and felt welcoming. We started off with the oysters, although not oyster experts they were fresh and very much, an oyster. The drinks were also great. We then ordered the pork and wallaby + fries as the main. The pork was wonderful, and chips amazing. The wallaby was quite chewy but cooked great and tasted just as good, but not the quality expected from price. Overall a great experience and seems like a good choice to introduce people to Australian cuisine.
Restaurant quality ingredients plus Chef David Hall’s ready made sauces turn dinner at home into a special occasion. We mix and match the meats and fish with the different sauces to make our own creations. We put the Curry sauce in our homemade vegetable soup. Yummy! My favorite is the Salted Caramel Sauce that comes with the Apple Pie.
So good to while away the arvo, safely on a perfect Melbourne day.
Glad to be back at a firm favorite. Yummy pizza and a beautiful cheesecake to go.
Excellent & friendly service.
Doing all the right things!
Had a really lovely waitress here. Service was quite slow but it was a Sunday morning and we had been warned. Food was a little smaller than expected with one tiny poached egg but it was perfectly cooked. Small portion, even the juice glasses are tiny, but a lovely scenic venue.
Always great food as would be expected as it is sourced from Tasmania.
Steak exceptional as was the whole baby snapper.
Menu has been down sized during COVID but still a good choice.
Was quiet and servers were a bit to attentive.
I do recommend this resturant
