Spontaneously dropped by Bincho boss during COVID-19 iso so only takeaway options were available to us~
Ordered:
š± Wagyu Bento Box: grilled wagyu tenderloin with garlic soy, Japanese seasoned mixed rice & chef's selection of sides ($28.00)
Review:
I've always wanted to try bincho boss! Since I was in the mood for Japanese bento boxes, this turned out to be a perfect opportunity.
Wagyu was perfect. Slightly juicy with amazing sauce and the nuts requiring some satisfying biting action.
The mushrooms had a wonderful grilled sweet flavour that I had to share with my friend š.
The consideration in this box was what amazed me. Every single portion of this meal - from the rice to the prawn ha gao can be eaten at room temperature. No reheating required!!
Although the service was brief and limited to our chat for ordering at takeaway, the gentleman was very friendly. Can definitely feel the positive vibes at bincho boss!
We came here for their set Valentine's day menu and had a really great dinner. We didn't drink cocktails so they happily let us pick mocktails which were pretty and quenching. Highlight for us was their sushi and dessert. The serving sizes were average but we were still moderately full at the end.
We had a great meal here!! Very cute place. They actually have 2 floors. Kind of like a bar with high tables downstairs and more relaxed upstairs.
We went with the Bincho grilled items. Gyutan skewer (ox tongue), unagi skewer (eel) & the negima (chicken) skewer. All were fantastic.
Need to come back with more people so we can sample more of the menu!!!
Wagyu is a must! Crispy salmon fish skin !
Chawanmushi! Skewers! Cauliflower salad( not enough dressing and too much leaves) Need to order at least 6 items to feel full though..
Japas style dining with some selection of larger dishes. Food are excellent and the service is truly top class just like in Japan. There's bar and high bench seatings on ground floor with more table seatings upstairs. The place is a little dark which exudes class and romantic vibe, perfect for date night. Gyu tataki and sukiyaki is highly recommended.
Came here for a team lunch a couple months ago.
Food, drinks and service was impeccable. The also do split bills !
We had the wagyu & sashimi gozen. The husband rated his sashimi lunch set 4.5/5 and mine was the wagyu 3/5. The wagyu was cooked medium but was still slightly chewy. The standout was the chawanmushi..really enjoyed it.
4 month new Japanese bar & restaurant. Nice clean simple setting. Karage chicken was crispy. Lunch set came with salad & miso and the portion was generous!
Location of the restaurant is in CBD and lots people just go to have a drink after work. Food are so delicious!! Really like their grilled scallops and ox tongue skewer. We also ordered the turkey hot pot, lots vegetables in side and the soup base is so tasty! Their dessert look so presentable and cute. Definitely will go back again with friends and we want to try more cocktails cuz they have a lot sale based cocktails and they all looks so great!
Genuinely satisfied with their amazing wagyu udon and their amazing desserts (Espresso CrĆØme Caramel is a must-try). Thoughtful and polite staff members where they try their best to ensure youāre okay with your food and answer any questions youāve got for them. Weāve also tried their salmon skin and tako karaage, which both dishes are fantastic and crispy. Would definitely come back here to try their other stuff on the menu. Additionally, their wagyu tataki is also one of the must-try dishes as it's fresh with great flavours in it.
Great spot for a good night out, decor feels a bit fancy! The food was delicious and the udon was great! Though not the largest menu, is worth trying out!
3.5 stars āļø I have heard so much about Bincho Boss! Located on Little Bourke St, near Tipo00, this Japanese eatery had a clean, modern look to it.
They have a lunch specials menu which consists of grilled chicken/ beef/ salmon sashimi gozen. Gozen is like a set lunch, with small dishes.
I got the salmon sashimi gozen, it came with chawanmushi (steamed egg), cold beef stew dish, tofu salad, miso soup.
Came here a while back, really enjoyed the pickled dishes that were given as a complimentary. Found the wagyu alittle salty, but everything else we enjoyed.
Fresh Tofu house made with ginger, taro and salmon roeSmoked Duck Breast with mustard, sorrel and red miso Our Favourite!Wagyu Tataki seared and served with mixed herbs, soy and onion. Prawn Dumpling steamed. with soy vinegar and ginger. Fried Chicken Karaage with. soy, ginger, mayo and house made chilli sauce A Worthy Classic
Itās a perfect place for both working lunch break and evening drink. I so love Gozen set, Ochazuke, Turkey skewers and the warm Sake! And the lovely staff he is so nice and patient to explain us every line on the menu, and cares about our feeling on every dish we orderā„ļø
Iāve found Bincho Boss through social media and decided to try it out one Friday night. Thank god I made a booking because the restaurant was fully booked. The food did not disappoint. It was amazing. I highly recommend the fresh tofu because it brought back memories of my time at a tofu restaurant in Arashiyama, Japan. I canāt believe I could find a similar tofu dish in Melbourne!!! Iāve also tried the beef tataki, carpaccio and turkey skewers. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try good quality Japanese food at an affordable price.
Melbourne has no shortage of Japanese restaurants, but that doesnāt keep me from getting excited about any new venture that falls under that umbrella. From Japanese-inspired cafes to katsu shops to yakitori dens, weāve seen lots of new openings this year. One of the latest is Bincho Boss, a contemporary izakaya-style eatery on Little Bourke Street in the CBD.
Been to BB twice now - once for dinner and once for a special Tuna and Yuzu event. Dinner was fantastic (duck eggplant is a highlight) and great value ($40pp for so much food) and the Tuna and bottomless Yuzu cocktails event was also amazing (pics are from the event). The tuna was showcased in 6 different ways - the ootoro nigiri fell apart in our mouths - and there was an endless supply of drinks. Highly recommend getting to this place before it inevitably gets too popular!
Absolutely stunning and delicious modern Japanese Izakaya cuisine. Each dish was unique and delicate. Service was impeccable, we were welcomed with their homemade Japanese pickles and the staff were friendly and attentive. Loved the carpaccio with truffle dressing , Wagyu tataki , fresh salmon sashimi. The highlight will have to be the salt crust wagyu. So tender, tasty and it just melts in your mouth. We also had the salmon ochazuke to finish off , a simple, rustic Japanese soup of rice with tea. The tempura ice cream is a MUST to order, creamy vanilla ice cream housed in a hot crispy chewy batter served with a berry sauce ( you have to try ). Overall it was a great venue to experience the Japanese Izakaya cuisine and drinks on a cold Saturday winter night . Will be back again.
Located on Little Bourke Street, in the heart of Melbourneās CBD, Bincho Boss is the food capitalās newest Japanese izakaya restaurant.
This modern Japanese eatery features authentic izakaya-style dishes presented in a refined,Ā contemporary way using fresh seasonal Australian produce. Many of Bincho Bossā signature dishes are cooked on an earthen konro grill over a traditional binchÅ-tan which is a high-quality white charcoal used in Japanese cooking to produce unparalleled flavours and aromas.

One of the best Modern Japanese restaurant in Melbourne for sure. We really enjoyed dining here and would highly recommend giving this place a go. We went for "The Boss" 10 courses and some of our favourite dishes include: - Kamo Nasu Dengaku (eggplant with sweet miso and smoked duck), this is a MUST TRY
- Smoked duck breast
- Wagyu beef (so perfectly grilled)
We were very grateful to be invited to try out this new Japanese eatery right in Melbourne CBD! The space was intimate, the service was impeccable and the izakaya menu allows you to try a lot of dishes at a relatively good price.
Out of the dishes that we tried, our big hits included:
ā¢ Scallops - so, so tender and juicy. Presented nicely & grilled to perfection. Definitely would come back just for these scallops!
ā¢ Smoked duck breast - delicious smoky flavour & awesome sauce to accompany
ā¢ Wagyu - interesting salt crust presentation & tender meat
ā¢ Mojito mocktail - the best mocktail we've had
Our only small gripes were with the desserts
ā¢ Tempura ice cream &
ā¢ Cheesecake
which didn't quite live up to the hype.
Overall, great presentation, good range of dishes and great flavours!

Bincho Boss is a cool new hidden gem in little Bourke. Featuring great food, neon signs and a delicious cocktail list, it is definitely a great place for after work dinner, lunch or date night. The food was delicious, we had range of sharing and small starters, dessert and cocktails - there is plenty to choose from the menu! And the service was great too, everyone was super friendly and on top of everything! Highly recommend it - great atmosphere and perfect location in the bus CBD!
Bincho Boss is a new, relatively upscale Japanese restaurant in the city. The dimly-lit space is great for intimate dinners and cocktail evenings, although they're also open for lunch. If you're of the cocktail persuasion, you'll be spoilt for choice here. I tried the very strong and sweet but smooth matcha highball, which features strong notes of honey. I also sipped my dining partner's delicious "oriental sour". We followed with a delicious, light brown sake with caramel tones.
The food menu has several vegetarian-marked options and others that can be modified. I tried the veg fried udon featuring thick, chewy noodles as well as the cauliflower and black garlic salad. But the modified dishes were what really blew me away. First was the housemade tofu (sans roe), which had a custard consistency and a semi-sweet, semi-cheesy flavour profile. I was slurping it up. The other notable dish was the nasu dengaku (sans duck). It's by far the creamiest, richest, most tender nasu I've ever had.Ā
I also sampled two desserts - The tempura ice cream (pretty straightforward but very good, served with berry compote) and the green tea brownies (incredible little bites with a fudge-like consistency). Add this to your list of notable Japanese eateries in the CBD.
Bincho boss was awesome. Cool little upstairs area with a great atmosphere and excellent staff!
The food was great. We got the Cauliflower salad, fried chicken, potato wedges and wagyu beef! The wagyu beef was amazing and and definitely a highlight and cauliflower salad was spectacular!
We loved this and will definitely be back!
Was stoked to hear that thereās a new kid on the block.Ā
So I popped in for lunch with colleagues to unwind a little.Ā
What I had was Sashimi Gozen that got a lot of bang for my buck. For $25, I had a good serving of salmon sashimi, oysters that were freshly served with ponzu sauce, cheese in chikuwa (Japanese fishcake) tempura, tofu salad, Chawanmushi (steamed egg), mixed rice, miso soup and pickles.Ā
Just to give the chawanmushi a little more airtime, itās not your regular steamed egg. But it was packed with chicken, prawns, and mushroom that had me feeling a little comatose after chowing the lunch set.Ā
My colleague had the Wagyu Gozen ($28). He opted for a medium rare that pleased his palate.Ā
Then he ended with a sweet finish by ordering coffee and cake for an extra $5. Coffee was good because the beans were from Market Lane. The dessert was cheesecake with white wine jelly and wakamomo, a Japanese baby peach.Ā
Just describing these dishes speaks volume about the value of money purely for lunch!
Bincho Boss certainly warrants a second visit for dinner because the cocktail menu sounded delicious.
