This has been my favourite restaurant since they were located back in A’Beckett street 3-4 years ago. Lovely owners, great delicious and healthy meals. This place has to be on top of your list.
One of the best korean restaurants in Melbourne! Their fried chicken is the best. They also have fantastic deals for lunch and their sets. I would highly recommend Diner on Franklin! You won’t regret it!

I like their salad hahaaahah even the grilled cauliflower was good. Just didnt like the fried rice cake and cheesy chicken as they were (a bit) sweet to my liking :( rather than that everything else was perfect. Friendly staff. Will come back to try more dishes :)

Small 15 seater Korean diner serving Korean street food. Vibe is very cozy and relaxed. We ordered the spicy teokpokki and it does pack a bit of heat. The rice cake is chewy and portion-wise is generous. Fried chicken is pretty good although it is more of chicken strips rather than chicken pieces.
Diner on Franklin is small enough that you can listen to your neighbour's conversations, but the vibes are so chill it doesn't really matter anyway.

The food is simple, inexpensive, but really really good. My favourite was definitely the fried cauliflower... it's definitely one of my weaknesses!
There's something underrated about biting into a fried dish that's unexpectedly soft. Add a depth of spice and it's a party in your mouth!
Service at Diner on Franklin is very low touch. There seems to only be 2 people - the cashier/waitress and the cook. Be prepared to go up to the counter to order, grab your own drinks and your own cutlery (which is already neatly organized).
Overall, Diner on Franklin is no fuss, with genuinely affordable and incredibly enjoyable food.
Hidden little gem. Such a good Korean food and the lunch special is so value for money. We had the lunch value beef bulgogi, chicken bulgogi and fried chicken. Will definitely return for more.
Ordered a takeaway today. Food being packed nicely and the food was awesome. They are doing 50% off for bibimbap between 3pm and 5pm. Will definitely go back and try.
great value for lunch special and taste is pretty close to local Korean. Highly recommend Yuzu tea both ice and hot one

The kimchi stew with pork back bone had generous serving of meat (3 massive pieces). The gimbap was nice and fresh - packed a lot of in gradients and did not cheap out on the filling, the popcorn chicken was delicious! Tender and not over cooked! Would definitely be coming back.

A pretty new Korean restaurant in the CBD. The place was quite cute, and was pretty quiet after lunch time. There were only two people working though so orders and request was only to be made at the counter. Our food also took a long time, and somehow the customer who came for takeaway got their orders first despite us ordering first.
Had the beef bibimbap (half price during happy hours) and it was definitely worth it for its price! The ingredients were fresh, I like the rice used, and the beef was pretty generous too. The portion was also filling, the only thing I didn't really like was that it was a bit sweeter than I'd like.
Overall for the price during happy hours, I was pretty happy with my meal, though service could definitely be improved.

We came here for lunch in which they offered their babsang (dining set) during this session. When the food came out we were in awe to the variety of the spread that was given.
For myself I got their KFC which had been smothered in a sweet chilli sauce. In saying that it didn't retain much of it's crispiness but was juicy on the inside. Underneath was your standard purple rice as well as some well seasoned salad on the side. The banchan was a mixture of traditional and non-traditional. Several fried items include crispy mandu, tofu pieces in sweet chilli and deep fried cauliflower with chilli mayo. I particularly liked their kimchi which had a sweet edge and wasn't that fermented. Finishing was some fresh pieces of fruit and a chocolate brownie, that's what I call a complete meal.
Asides from what we had that day they also serve up your standard Korean fare. From what we saw it is run by a Korean duo, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and hope for their continued success.
The most worth-it 밥상!!!!! The portion is so wise. U got all the banchan - main - fruits even brownies for $15.8! I got the KFC! The chicken is so good🤤 can’t go wrong with korean fried chicken and my friend get the soft tofu soup with seafood! Quite spicy but tasty! Got plenty of seafood as well! The minus is that the food take awhile since only 1 people cooking. And the space quite small~ still food is the highlight here! :)
Simply amazing!!! Had pork bibimbab, sweet chilli fried chicken and seafood pancake. They were all so delicious and tasty. And the prices were even better. Especially lunch special hot stone bibimbab was only 6.90 and it was very yum :) gotta go back to try other dishes
Love this restaurant concept. Food was really good and tasty. Service was friendly as well. However the place is quite hidden otherwise it will be pack of people.
We ordered chicken bulgogi bibimbap and cheese buldak bapsang. Bibimbap was good but nothing spectacular. Just like other bibimbap. On the other hand, bapsang was amazing. I always love to have varieties of banchan with my meal.

Went for lunch special and ordered the bulgolgi bansan set and it was really good. Tasted fresh clean and healthy. Not oily. Very good value for price ! Will definitely return again for lunch!
I was scrolling through Instagram while eating dinner at home one night and came upon the Diner on Franklin instagram. The photos looked so good that I immediately wanted to pop the rest of my dinner into the fridge and head on over. Look, I didn’t do that. But I did visit Diner On Franklin a week later for lunch.
Went on Friday evening after reading some positive reviews. It was quite empty so we could pick any tables. We had 6 pieces of KFC with sweet chilli, combination pancake, rice cake skewer and hodduk. KFC came with salad, chips and tomato sauce. This is probably the most authentic KFC I have had in Melbourne (I'm Korean!!). It was crispy, juicy and everything I wanted in KFC. Rice cake skewer and hodduk were also excellent. It reminded me of my childhood while tasting a lot healthier than the usual street food I get in Korea. The pancake was cut into small bite sizes which was great as most of the other Korean places don't do a good job in cutting their pancakes. Although I would like the pancakes to be a little thicker, it tasted very clean. Overall, delicious authentic Korean food with wonderful customer service.
Maybe this is one of favorite korean resto so far here in melbourne, because the food is tasty and the price is reasonable. I always eat bibimbap here with banzan set I love the side dishes their kimchi is sweet and fresh, its not spicy at all and it suits me. I tried the japchae for me much better to use shitake mushroom rather than the button mushroom so It will make the japchae more tastier and unique.
I have always been a skeptic of Korean cuisine as I have never found a restaurant that provides great Korean cuisine but I must say this has completely changed my perspective of Korean cuisine!!! The food was so fresh, well presented, tasty and filling! If you are around the area, check it out and even if your not make the trip done, it's worth it! I will definitely be back :)
Went in for some lunch with 6 other people and we have all been raving about it since. Every meal we ordered was delicious and everything is reasonably priced! Highly recommend popping in and checking this place out :) We'll be back for sure.
Decided to try out this new place for dinner last night. It's not too far of a walk from Flagstaff station. Service was excellent. I tried the Beef Bibimbap and my partner had a seafood soup which both tasted delicious. We recommend the fried chicken entree as well. Will definitely be back again next time :)
Tried this newly opened restaurant for the first time today...and I'll start with we will be back! They put a lot of effort into presentation and food quality. Had the fried chicken lunch set; it was light and crispy and all the side dishes complemented the main dish. They also make their own kimchi; which was the best, perfect balance of sweet, spicy & not too sour. I would even go as far as buying a container of their own homemade kimchi if it's available in the future :) ...before leaving we had combination pancake for takeaway....oooh another yummy treat! Generous amount of seafood in the pancake & not oily! Couldn't fault this place & service was so friendly too :)
Delicious and value for money, you get a variety of dishes with your main meal for a very good price. The entree options are really good too, we got the prawn dumplings and they were yummy. Good combination of Korean side dishes, loved it. 🥰
Little hidden gem run by a lovely & friendly couple!! Very yummy and authentic Korean food, not to mention how affordable it is! The quality and variety of food you get is top notch. They don’t take bookings, only walk-ins so you either get there early, or have to wait as the place is quite small and cosy.

Beef bulgogi was slightly over cooked and dry for my liking, but it was tasty and wasn’t too bad overall. The kimchi is a little bland though. Everything else was superb, very fresh and well prepared - especially the cauliflower! It was amazing.
The fried chicken paired awesome with the melted cheese, still slightly crispy even after the fiery sauce coat. the cheese had a nice stretch to it and went very well with the side dishes and the rice.

Cozy place with great interior design, owned by a couple which are super friendly and kind. Their pork bone soup tastes amazing , well balanced between spicy,sweet and savoury. Soy sauce fried chicken was super tasty and cripsy with delicious salad dressing.
This restaurant will be my go to place for Korean food ! Extremely recommend to try them out
Fired chicken is nice, so is the pork soup. However the other ones are just too sweet for me. Price is ok, not too expensive.
