This has been my favourite restaurant since they were located back in A’Beckett street 3-4 years ago. Lovely owners, great delicious and healthy meals. This place has to be on top of your list.
One of the best korean restaurants in Melbourne! Their fried chicken is the best. They also have fantastic deals for lunch and their sets. I would highly recommend Diner on Franklin! You won’t regret it!
My go to Korean place, always come here with friends to catch up! Delicious food and friendly service - would recommend :)
Super yummy, excellent service! I come here often :) Highly recommend
I like their salad hahaaahah even the grilled cauliflower was good. Just didnt like the fried rice cake and cheesy chicken as they were (a bit) sweet to my liking :( rather than that everything else was perfect. Friendly staff. Will come back to try more dishes :)
The set lunch here is a must try! It's so comprehensive and delicious and well priced. Very neat vibe as well
Small 15 seater Korean diner serving Korean street food. Vibe is very cozy and relaxed. We ordered the spicy teokpokki and it does pack a bit of heat. The rice cake is chewy and portion-wise is generous. Fried chicken is pretty good although it is more of chicken strips rather than chicken pieces.
Diner on Franklin is small enough that you can listen to your neighbour's conversations, but the vibes are so chill it doesn't really matter anyway.
Ordered:
🍚 Beef bulgogi bibimbap: korean mixed rice with veg, meats and bibimbap chilli sauce ($16.00)
🥦 Fried cauliflower, chilli mayo ($6.50)
🍱 Banchan ($6.00)
Review:
The food is simple, inexpensive, but really really good. My favourite was definitely the fried cauliflower... it's definitely one of my weaknesses!
There's something underrated about biting into a fried dish that's unexpectedly soft. Add a depth of spice and it's a party in your mouth!
Service at Diner on Franklin is very low touch. There seems to only be 2 people - the cashier/waitress and the cook. Be prepared to go up to the counter to order, grab your own drinks and your own cutlery (which is already neatly organized).
Overall, Diner on Franklin is no fuss, with genuinely affordable and incredibly enjoyable food.
Hidden little gem. Such a good Korean food and the lunch special is so value for money. We had the lunch value beef bulgogi, chicken bulgogi and fried chicken. Will definitely return for more.
Ordered a takeaway today. Food being packed nicely and the food was awesome. They are doing 50% off for bibimbap between 3pm and 5pm. Will definitely go back and try.
Delicious and value for money, you get a variety of dishes with your main meal for a very good price. The entree options are really good too, we got the prawn dumplings and they were yummy. Good combination of Korean side dishes, loved it. 🥰
Little hidden gem run by a lovely & friendly couple!! Very yummy and authentic Korean food, not to mention how affordable it is! The quality and variety of food you get is top notch. They don’t take bookings, only walk-ins so you either get there early, or have to wait as the place is quite small and cosy.
Each Babsang included:
🥩 A protein
🥬 Kimchi
🥟 Fried dumpling, prawn and seaweed noodle roll
🍢 Tteokbokki
🥦 Fried cauliflower
🥒 Fresh Salad
🍚 Purple rice
🍊 Cut fruit
🍰 Cheesecake
Beef bulgogi was slightly over cooked and dry for my liking, but it was tasty and wasn’t too bad overall. The kimchi is a little bland though. Everything else was superb, very fresh and well prepared - especially the cauliflower! It was amazing.
The fried chicken paired awesome with the melted cheese, still slightly crispy even after the fiery sauce coat. the cheese had a nice stretch to it and went very well with the side dishes and the rice.

Authentic Korean Restaurant !
Cozy place with great interior design, owned by a couple which are super friendly and kind. Their pork bone soup tastes amazing , well balanced between spicy, sweet and savoury. Soy sauce fried chicken was super tasty and cripsy with delicious salad dressing.
This restaurant will be my go to place for Korean food ! Extremely recommend to try them out
Fired chicken is nice, so is the pork soup. However the other ones are just too sweet for me. Price is ok, not too expensive.
Super nice and worth for money!!!
But I left my jacket in your shop😭
Can you keep it for me? I will go and grab from you. Thank you.
Lunch special worth the price! Very tasty modern korean food + generous portion from side dishes to desserts! Must try!
Their dining set is a must try!! Awesome value for almost $23! The deal offers a variety of sides, vegetables, and best of all, your choice of protein (I loved their beef bulgogi, cheese buldak, and kimchi pork bone broth - esp during this rainy season)! Shout out to the duo working hard behind the scenes! Thanks for being so welcoming and super!:)
