Perfect start to any morning. It's safe to say this isn't my local - I live almost an hour away. Half Penny isn't even on my way to work, in fact it's nowhere near my work, and I don't know any friends who live in the area. And yet without fail I regularly battle the traffic down Sydney Road - often arising from slumber an hour earlier than I need to - to make a stop at Half Penny. These incredibly charming boys go out of their way to make conversation with you and make you feel like you have been friends with them for years, but by far their biggest drawcard is that these boys know their stuff. For those of you with as little knowledge as me, talk of filters and roasts may go over your head, but it means that these boys make incredible coffee. Every. Single. Time. The breakfast menu ain't huge, but it is tasty. If eggs on toast are your thing I suggest making your way to McDonalds for a McMuffin - the gourmet delights on offer here include twice-cooked brioche, smashed avocado and fetta, and the most amazing bircher muesli I have ever tasted. I suggest making it your new local. Even if you live an hour away like me. Much love and respect to you boys for creating this little gem, and I hope it flourishes!
