Love the desserts here! Anything mango is 𧑠and it is so refreshing!
Always love Hui Lau Shan's dessert and drinks. The taste is exactly the same has their Hong Kong stores. I highly recommend the Mango Romance set where you get a sample of all their best desserts like the Mango Mochi and Chewy Balls!
I took my family to Hui Lau Shan the other night as we were craving dessert after dinner, and this was the perfect spot!
We ordered a variety of different dishes to share, including:
Jumbo Mango Chewy Ball - this will always be my favourite option at HLS, and I love that it comes in jumbo size too! Definitely enough to feed 2-3 people. The mango flavour is so concentrated, and it pairs well with the chewy balls. The mango sorbet adds the perfect refreshing touch.
Jumbo Pomelo & Mango w Sago - this reminds me of the classic mango sago dessert, however itβs not as βcoconut-yβ. I like that it comes with pomelo which makes it a bit more unique.
Black Glutinous Rice & Taro Paste (warm) - great for cold days. This dessert is very filling and warming. Love the fragrant nuttiness of the black glutinous rice. Itβs not overly sweet either.
Milk Custard w Mango (warm) - an interesting dish! The milk custard is very light, and not too sweet. Although we asked for warm, it was served cold-ish (?). Not my favourite.
Herbal Jelly with Honeycomb, Mango & Chewy Ball - love the herbal jelly, which is super light and refreshing. It goes well with the mango, and the addition of honeycomb is nice too.
Twin Icy w Mixed Fruits - another one of my favourites here. I really like the unique texture of the icy, as itβs not like ice nor is it like ice cream. Itβs not like bingsu either, as itβs more solid. Really unique texture, and very refreshing too!
The only thing I would note is that there is no air con upstairs, so it might not be optimal to go up on really hot days!
Definitely try the mango jumbo pomelo sago dessert! It was so delicious, perfect amount of mango and coconut mix. Things are decently priced relative to other dessert places and itβs right next to the arcade too which is a plus! Staff were very polite also, would love to go back and try the other desserts
Peach fruity tea with Matha was excellent as I never tried it at other tea places. It has three layers of taste where they mixed well together. Food was using fresh ingredients.
Great place to visit on Elizabeth St - we used Zomato gold for the desserts making it a great cheap & affordable yet tasty dessert place :)

They have mango pudding, mango ice cream, mango jelly, mango EVERYTHING.Β
I visited with my friends on a food crawl, and we were...
Loved these drink since my last visit to Hong kong and still love it now, thank god they got a shop in Melbourne.
The Mango drinks are the best, tried the peach one today it is just as good. They got fresh peaches inside, would definitely recommend if the price tag wasn't so high at $9.8 for a cup.
Only downfall was that the drinks are not cold at all, maybe because I got them on a hot day. But still, hope they can improve.
itβs mango season!

Not bad for something that came from overseas.
The photos above; one photo is from the Hong Kong store and the other is from Melbourne.
The mango is obviously canned mango. The Hong Kong stores have more food options. I hope they can bring that to Melbourne.
Herbal jelly with the fake honey... 3/10
Mango sago.... 5/10
All the ice desserts seem melted by the time they bring it to you.
And the toy grab machines next door should just accept gold coins
Edit July 2019
Bumping from 3 to 5 stars because they may have listened to the feedback regarding freshness, everything we tried was outstanding.
The new menu is also fantastic with new additions like herbal jellies, fruit teas and durian desserts. We tried the herbal jelly with fresh fruits, mango chewy balls, durian sago and a few drinks. The mango was fresh and so sweet, wifey and bub were very impressed. The durian sago was amazing, i thought it would be too heavy and creamy but it was light and refreshing π.
Drink wise the purple yoghurt rice and peach fruit tea were great but the stand out was the Taiwan Greengage. It had fresh lemon, lime and kiwi pieces and the flavour was just amazing.

Hui Lau Shan is a famous mango dessert joint from HK that recently opened in Melbourne CBD.
We ordered the mango romance as it gives a little bit of everything. The mango flavour is nice, never really had Philippine mangos before but they are quite nice. Would love to see them use some Australian mangos when they come back in season. Unfortunately the mango used wasn't very fresh (observe pic), the flesh of the mango was mushy and bruised. The mochi was quite hard (leading me to believe it wasn't that fresh).
Good potential however fresher consistent ingredients would really help this place.

I had the Mango & Sago dessert. A generous bowl of bubbly sago was topped with pureed mango and fresh chopped mango! Also ordered some sweet crystal jelly on side, because I was extra hungry.
If you love mango and want to get your snack on, you should definitely visit Hau Lau Shan.
Hui Lau ShanHui Lau Shan is known to many as one of the popular international dessert chains. They focus mainly on fruit desserts and they have launched specialty desserts both served hot and cold. They have recently opened a branch in Melbourne cbd.There is a takeway counter on the ground floor and you can head upstairs for a seating aread. Had the privilege to try their new range of desserts and we were blown away. Could not even decide which one was a favourite as they were all yummy. We had the items below;
Herbal Jelly with Honeycomb, Mango & Chewy Balls
This was one of my favourite, the herbal jelly was diced up nicely and it was served with fresh mango and chewy balls topped with a scoop of honeycomb. Really liked the idea of the honeycomb as it gave it the extra sweetness and changes the flavour of the dish. The honeycomb went really well together and the chewy balls had such a nice texture. It was quite a refreshing dish, perfect after a heavy meal.
2. Purple Rice Yogurt
There has been quite a crazy lately with the purple rice yogurt in Australia, and this was presented nicely. I particularly liked how it wasnβt too sweet and it had a nice texture to it.
3. Durian & Pomelo with Sago
This dish is dedicated to all Durian lovers out there, if you love Durian you would love this dish. It had a big scoop of durian on top and it went really well with the pomelo and sago as it blends the flavours really well together.
4. Mango and coconut ice with mixed fruits
I find this dish special as the mango and coconut shave ice had such a silky smooth texture. The shave ice literally melts in your mouth and it the mixed fruits makes it a very refreshing dish.
We had such a lovely time at Hui Lau Shan and the service was really good. Just the perfect sweet ending after a meal.
Best desserts here in Melbourne!! Tastes just like how they do it in HK! So excited and loved it we came back on the second night! Just be mindful that they do serve a lot of durian desserts and if you donβt like it you will be swamped by the smell.........
Open relatively late compared to other dining and dessert places around. A number of Asian (Hong Kong) desserts available, currently with a focus on mango. They also have herbal jelly and beancurd based desserts. The mango desserts we ordered were good, if a little on the sweet side. The different components (mango ice cream, mango sorbet, sago/tapioca pearls) gave it different textures. The serving size wasn't stingy.
You order and pay downstairs, after which you find a table at the seating area upstairs, or wait for your takeaway. If dining in, they will bring your dessert and drinks to you. Not too packed as we were there quite late.
Had the mango jumbo thing which was delicious but quite expensive. The desert had mango ice cream, mango sorbet, mango pieces and chewy rice balls. The chewy balls were seriously chewy.
I've always been obsessed with rice porridge and I've recently become obsessed with yoghurt drinks so I love the chance to get both at one spot. This spot specialises in mango desserts but it's the matcha yoghurt and purple rice with mochi that got me. The first is smooth and a bit fruity (probably from the sourness of the yoghurt) and doesn't have too bitter of a matcha taste, which is nice. Meanwhile, the purple rice is perfectly creamy and has a slightly toasted flavour. Pair the two dishes together for a real treat. Serves aren't as big as they look in the photos, FYI, but the prices are reasonable.
This is a great new place to try some exciting new desserts and drinks. The store seems to specialise in Mango and durian ice creams and drinks. I had the mango with coconut milk and Crystal jelly drink it was delicious and the mango was extremely fresh and flavorful. We even got some free coins to play the claw games while waiting for our drinks. I definitely want to go back and try more things.
