Ging Thai is located at the Crown and has two levels. So that we didn't have to choose what dishes to order, we selected the Feed Me menu for $68 per person. It has eight dishes and includes Pad Thai and Thai fish cakes which are typical Thai dishes. Also included in the Feed Me menu was roti bread, chicken satay, salmon salad, a beef curry, a vegetable dish and coconut and Pandan icecream for dessert. The dishes were very nice however they were probably prepared to cater for the Westerners palate as they were not at all spicy. For an extra $40 per person the Feed Me menu can be paired with drinks. We however chose to order cocktails. There were eight to select from and each were around $22.
The restaurant can accommodate different size groups and also has small cosy booths.
Would recommend Going Thai.

Thai gastrobar Ging Thai at Melbourne's Crown delivers an impeccable menu of contemporary Thai food and drink. The ambience is modern and relaxed. The beautiful space is anchored by the imposing bar that greets patrions when they enter. The venue runs seamless thanks to an all-star team ensuring that all the zest, vibrancy and vigour of Thai cuisine comes through on every plate.
We started with the Thai Fish Cake AKA Tod Man Pla Chilli served with ginger, cucumber and shallots. The dish was a multitude of intense flavours. The Charcoal Grilled Chicken Satays were equally delicious. Tender skewers were cooked to perfection and served with a moorish curried peanut dip.
For mains we fell in love with the Massaman Beef Curry. Featuring melt in your mouth morsels of beautifully cooked beef in a decadent and creamy curry cooked in a flavour-laden mix of sweet potatoes, peanuts, shallots and toasted coconut.
The Pad Thai continued the trend of amazing dishes. The popular Thai stir fried noodles transported us straight to the streets of Thailand. Ribbons of rice noodles were skilfully wok tossed with bean shoots, garlic chives, chicken spring onion, peanuts ,shallots and egg in a housemade tamarind sugar sauce. Just yum!
With a menu grounded in authentic Thai flavours paired with modern techniques, local produce and ingredients, Ging Thai pleases with a sophisticated menu.
Seafood fried rice is to die for.
Ordered the Thai staple trio: Pad Thai, Curry & Papaya salad. Can’t really fault those dishes. Was ecstatic when the Asian aunty brought those dishes out in the retro big plate, definitely felt like home.
Decided to try out this new kid on the block, and the "feed me" menu for $68 pp caught our eye, which was plenty of food
As per the photo, we got to try a few things on the menu,Overall enjoyed the food, but it has been catered to western tastes and is a bit heavier and sweeter than traditional recipes.
We particularly enjoyed the Massaman Green curry, Pork satay, and Roti, the Pad thai and fish cake were a miss for us,
Service from our blonde waitress was very good,
Would have given a "5 Star" rating but the price is a bit high to represent good value
I thought the food here was delicious. Usually I wouldn’t go to crown to try Thai food as this isn’t my chosen cuisine but I am so glad I did!
My friends and I went as they were having a promotion (free dish for Thai stamps in your passport) we got three free dishes and ordered a few more.
Everything was full of flavour and had the right amount of punch when it came to spice! Will for sure come back to try some more food. Really happy I went!
Bumped into this restaurant for a late Friday night dinner and the food was an absolute delight. Everything was super fresh, tasty and quantity and quality both were at par. Plus the additional entertainment book discount was a cherry on top!
Husband and friends enjoyed chicken fried rice the least but the curries took away all the points. Especially the yellow vegetable curry! I see myself visiting this place soon.
The place was nicely decorated and the food was ok. We ordered the duck fried rice, skewers and black sticky rice with egg custard and ice cream. I really liked that dessert. Was really good. The fried rice was ok, a bit too salty and the skewers had too much seasoning on top. Chicken was really tender though.
One thing I need to start off with is the decor and most things on the menu here is exactly the same as Long Chim. So what we experienced was not too different, however the bill was nearly twice the amount! I have no idea how that happened however I don’t really see it worth it.
Saying that it still didn’t stop us enjoying the dinner :)
The school prawns, oysters, Betal leaf, chicken wings and eggplant was definitely the stand outs and quite delicious!
The cocktails aren’t bad if you don’t mind a lot sweetness.
The squid was terrible to the point we had to return it.
The service was again the same as what we experienced at Long Chim.
