Why have I not heard of Proud Sprout earlier? Oh my goodness! So much flavour and goodness in one bowl of healthy eating! Yum! I am so excited to return and try their other options on the menu!
🔆LOCATION🔆
Proud Sprout is situated popular area of Smith Street near the corner of Langridge/Gertrude St intersection. What’s great is that the tram stop #86 is right outside which can take you into the city within minutes - super convenient.
🔆SERVICE🔆
The sweet lovely lady that served me was cheerful and we had a nice conversation. I was indecisive on options and she helped me to pick the meatballs.
🔆MENU/PRICE🔆
It’s all about their “supercharged bowls” with 8 set options, 2 on the specials menu board OR you can build your own which costs $15.90 which includes base, 4 sides, 1 protein and 1 sauce.
Middle Eastern Beef Meatballs, $15.90
(pearl couscous, beef meatballs, roasted broccoli, beetroot, grilled eggplant, pickled turnip, spinach with tahina, yoghurt and sumac sauce)
🔆VERDICT🔆
I absolutely loved the Middle Eastern meatballs. The pearl couscous was had nice soft texture, the meatballs was warm and flavoursome. I especially enjoyed the grilled eggplants and roasted broccoli. The Tahini, yoghurt and sumac dressing was delicious – all the ingredients were really fresh and tasty! I am excited to return to try other items on the menu, and possibly also try to build my own supercharged bowl. I was left very satisfied.
Loved the place, service and taste of my tofu bowl. Flavors are nice and can make any full salad great.
I LOVE IT!
Tasty, healthy and awesome staff. This cafe/ healthy bowl eatery is a little gem just off Gertrude street.
They have an inside eating space and a very cute courtyard outback for those summer days or fresh winter lunchtimes!
I ordered a make your own bowl and the options were great. They have all sorts of healthy goodies on offer.
The bowls are bright, tasty and oh so nutritious.
I will for sure be going back time and time again for my healthy lunch time eats.
9.5/10
I’ve now been to proud spout twice and seeing as the meatball bowl was so good the first time, I couldn’t go past it the second! I must admit, it was a noticeably smaller portion the second time however. Nonetheless it was definitely large enough for lunch. The meatballs themselves are flavourful and the eggplant and pickled turnip are standout. My friend ordered the tofu bowl and I have to say, this dish looked second rate (dry and the pickled carrot was not pickled). So it may be the kind of place that has a few inconsistencies. But speaking from my experiences, I’m a fan.
Proud sprout cafe in Collingwood. I came in the lunch time with colleagues. Ordered the meat ball lunch bowl and it was healthy and tasty. Coffee was also strong and nice. Good healthy place to dine in.
So aptly named - supercharged bowls. Definitely was supercharged after devouring one of these bowls. The Middle Eastern Spiced Beef Meatballs bowl (what a mouthful) not only tasted healthy and delicious, it was quite substantial yet does not weigh you down. The chargrilled eggplants and roast broccoli added a depth of flavour to the bowl. A bit on the salty side, but you can't say this bowl lacked any flavours!
The Super Acai Bowl was bursting with berries goodness, and I was sold when I saw the huge dollop of peanut butter on top. The house-made granola were deliciously crunchy too. Same price as the aforementioned savoury bowl, but slightly smaller in sized so that was a bit of a minor grievance for me.
A great alternative for when I'm after something healthy that isn't a poke or a salad.
My friend has been raving about this place and I finally decided to visit Proud Sprout for lunch. We ordered the Mediterranean spiced meat balls and they did not disappoint. I absolutely loved the eggplant in the dish! The cous cous had a nice bite and the other elements were delicious too. Will be revisiting soon!
A amazing Buddha bowl style cafe for quick healthy meals! If your fan of poke style bowls you will love proud sprout as they offer a whole range of Buddha bowl fillings that I personally prefer to the poke style bowls. The charred eggplant and broccoli is absolutely amazing and the tofu 😍 only thing I did not quite like was the spiced pumpkin which was almost hummus styled (I ordered uber eats and thought it would be roast pumpkin chunks) but can’t really fault them on this as I didn’t physically visit the store itself. Found it to be reasonably priced. I am so keen to come here in person and would definitely recommend if your looking for a healthy option. If you like poke style bowls and laneway greens the you will love proud sprout- in my opinion offers more flavoursome toppings and a wider variety of options for toppings. I wish I lived closer.
Update: roasted sweet potato is to die for! The Mediterranean meatballs was also received well! Visited in person and the shop is really cute with extra seating in a courtyard out the back- would be so nice in the summer.
Ordered Proud Sprout on Uber Eats delivered to the CBD. Was looking for a healthy dinner option that wasn't Poke (which I'm getting really sick of). My bowl was YUM. Charred eggplant and pumpkin were delicious. I had chicken and tofu as proteins, both delicious. Each element was tastier than the average equivalent at a make-your-own bowl place. This will be a new regular work dinner. Thanks guys, made my evening.
Amazing, delicious bowls. The charred eggplant is to die for. Also really good value. I eat here a few times a week, this place should have a much higher rating.
😋 great new menu, love the supercharged bowls! Had the middle eastern spice meatballs and the chargrilled free range chicken bowl! Everything was so fresh! A hidden gem. Definitely come back here.

8-week old Proud Sprout is where cafe dishes go to get a Nepalese and Sri Lankan twist, thanks to owners Karishma and Waseem. After opening Little Temper in Hawthorn, they’ve journeyed on to start up their second cafe in Collingwood, on the Southern end of Smith Street. The interior is small and cosy, and there’s also a backyard outdoors space to enjoy. Bowls bought from the laneway markets of Kathmandu have been transformed into colourful pendant lights above the counter, adding extra splashes of vibrance to the space.
Cute little cafe! Coffee was quite good. The consistency of the porridge was perfect and tasted delicious. It tasted as though it had a slight lemon sweetness to it which I loved. The granola on top was packer mix. It may look big in the photo but the bowl wasn't very deep therefore was still a little hungry afterwards. Good selection of healthy protein balls. My friend loved her mushroom dish. 2 coffees + 2 meals = $40.
Proud Sprout is a newly opened cafe in Collingwood that aims to offer something a bit different than your usual breakfast and brunch fare in this part of town. It's owned by husband and wife team Karishma and Waseem (ex Little Temper), who grew up in Nepal and Sri Lanka respectively.
We had brunch here today and the food was amazing! Such a lovely cafe with beautiful service and atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back.
Good cafe in Collingwood on Smith St. We ordered vegetarian sandwiches and coffees.Cafe was little bit quiet but happy with coffee and sandwich. Staff was also friendly.
Thank you guys.

Proud Sprout is a new café that has popped up on the Smith street scene amongst some tough competitors. The café is modern and offers a relaxed place to enjoy a decent coffee, delicious and carefully prepared food, and wonderful service. Because we have been very naughty and have been trying all the sweet dishes around Melbourne, we thought it would be a good idea to show you guys some healthier food options that lie within the suburbs of Melbourne.
Porridge is always a good option if you want to warm your insides on a freezing day! This one is very large and creamy. The seeds + nuts give the dish a nice crunchy texture to tie in with the smoothness of the porridge. The shreds of coconut add a bit of sweetness to the dish, alongside the perfectly ripe berries. Overall, this dish is very tasty and beautifully presented- if you’re in the area on a cold day, definitely give this one a try!
The granola dish is not just a beautiful dish to look at- it tastes really good and has a really nice crunchy texture, that can be softened down by the side of milk. The overall flavour is sweet and the fruit on top adds an extra bit of sweetness to it. It is an overall perfect dish to have for a brunch out as it is delicious and beautiful too.
The staff brought us over some of their smoothies to try (cacao and matcha), and as soon as we saw them we knew they were going to be so tasty. The combination of flavours mixed so well together and we really recommend you giving these a go when you visit!
Overall, we had a pleasant experience here and will definitely be returning to try some more delicious meals

Really enjoyed my lunch at Proud Sprout. A friend recommended we check it out and it was a good call. Staff were super friendly. Lot's of options on the menu or make your own bowl, which is what we did. Definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't yet!
Their bowls are delicious! I particularly loved the Burrito Bowl on the specials menu, it was just so tasty. The vegan tofu one was delicious too although could have been even better if the tofu was served hot.
The bowls are such a generous serving size too. And the Acai smoothie was one of the best I've had!

Delicious food on offer and coffee was spot on. Only one staff at the time we visited but no delays in getting service that morning.
Great tasty food cooked to enjoy. The people there know the food and are passionate about their products
