3.5 Good
New addition to ELLA dining precinct, this establishment is a smaller cafe compared to their other outlets and thus is limited in lunch options.
They unfortunately ran out of buns for burgers (my workmate took their last portion) so I opted for a Napolitan pasta, simple but effective. The blend of tomato, basil and parmesan along with some al dente penne is a textbook winner and decently priced.
I also got a side of sweet potato fries which also is a safe bet and was served with a spicy mayo. My workmate was served with a small side of chips alongside his burger which he wasn’t too pleased with and there was a mixup with my sweet potato fries (I was given potato fries instead) which was quickly remedied.
We also opted for some dessert and coffee, I wish I had tasted my latte before the sweets hit my mouth but the velvety texture and strength was apparent. Their popular lemon tart was indeed tangy and the meringue was light and sugary. The shortcrust pastry was stuck to the base and was difficult to peel off, not as crumbly as I’d like. Their hazelnut soft & crunchy however was a winner, the nutty hazelnut flavour with a crispy praline gave it a textual delight.
Although there were some standouts there were also some minor flaws as aforementioned. Service could have been more friendly and improved such as instead of taking away the fries they could have left them there. Definitely come and try their coffee and pastries, a little expensive but worth the indulgence.
Beautiful desserts and pastries with coffee..cake and coffee deal at $9.50. The service is great too with a smiling friendly server. This place has ample of seating. The chai latte is great with enough spices on it.
Worth getting to know Ella in Melbourne CBD. I can’t lie, I make sure my city traverse leads me right by Reverie for a coffee and lemon tart!
