We organised a private event. Berney, the owner was very accommodative of our requests. The food was fresh and delicious and truly authentic Sri Lankan. Really enjoy. Would recommend this place.

I organised a group for Friday 1st September thinking it would be a hopper night. Bernie and his staff were so friendly and hospitable. Apparently, I got it all wrong and the special night was happening the following week with live music. Bernie and his staff, made the night. He brought out exciting dishes none of us had eaten before - heaps of entrees, Devilled beef (my favourite), egg fried rice and Sri Lankan rice noodles (my husband's favourite) accompanied by hoppers and then a variety of desserts. We had amazing coffee to finish everything off at the end. Bernie called us prior and advised we could bring wine and there was no corkage cost. I reckon this has become our new regular local. One suggestion - go hungry, because Bernie and his chefs make sure you don't go away hungry. He explained all his herbs, spices and ingredients are specially imported from Sri Lanka and are the genuine thing.  I'm usually there now every Tuesday for my morning coffee and catch up with Bernie. He is so enthusiastic, he loves to talk about his food and last week he introduced my friend and I to a Sri Lankan breakfast dish - coconut roti. I would suggest to miss the Aussie style food on the menu and just go for the genuine Sri Lankan food.

A new gem in Hawthorn! A must-try! Please don't miss out!
I've been to Gihan's few times and every single time the food and customer service is exceptionally good and consistent. I am highly impressed! I love Sri Lankan food and the chefs at Gihan's prepare delicious authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. I've tried almost all the Sri Lankan food on their menu and everything has been divine.
Bernie, his wife and the rest of the team are extremely friendly, professional, attentive and welcoming. The restaurant has a very positive and a relaxed vibe. Gihan's is suitable for families, couples, friends and everyone else who likes a good hearty meal. With such great food and customer service, what more can one ask for??!! The hot chocolate and coffee served are mouth watering too. They also have amazing desserts. Even though we are so full after our meal we some how try to have some dessert before leaving. It is too good to miss out on.
Once a fortnight on Friday evenings Gihan's has a Sri Lankan style buffet with decadent food which includes hoppers, kottu, noodles and various types of curries etc. Every single time we go we thoroughly enjoy our meal and the fantastic company of all the lovely staff. They always spoil us with complimentary and delicious rotis and hoppers. We always leave full, satisfied and happy!
All their food is very fresh and delectable as they prepare it once you've ordered. Nothing is pre-prepared or frozen. We always feel and taste the magnificent quality of food Gihan's serves us. The presentation of the food is splendid too. Every single time we see, smell and taste our food it proves that the chefs at Gihan's prepare the food with love and passion.
I highly recommend Gihan's to anyone who would like to spoil themselves with an authentic Sri Lankan meal and outstanding customer service from very warm and kind Sri Lankans. If you like to experience true Sri Lankan hospitality in Melbourne please pay a visit to Gihan's. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
A big thank you to the team at Gihan's. We will be back very soon. S

Gihan's restaurant gives the REAL Sri Lankan taste. Food was finely blended with spiciness, sweetness, sourness and proper saltines which most of the Sri Lankans would love to sense in authentic Sri Lankan dishes. I had a "Curry Burger"and it was simply amazing in it's appearance and flavour. The staff was very friendly and we were offered an exceptional customer service. I would recommend Gihan's Restaurant to anyone who loves food.

Go hungry to this cafe as you will meet the most owner (Bernie) and staff who are so proud of their food.
