I'll keep this review short, because I want you to go and experience Bobby's for yourself.
It's the vibe. The music, the service, 5-star coffee (Melbourne's best?), and oh the bagels. THE BAGELS.
Bobby's has firmly established itself as my favourite lunch spot in the city.

Points for – excellent coffee, fresh bagel sandwiches

Tucked into a laneway off Lonsdale St toward Punch Lane is a little gem.

Bobbys are quite popular for their coffee – in fact it’s probably the best in the area. The house blend is bold and smooth, and the milk textured perfectly to create a creamy texture.

Only downside is their regular small seems quite small – possibly a tad smaller than others.

Bagel sandwiches are made fresh and there is a good range to choose from.

The New Yorker is a classic with a good amount of pastrami with melted gruyere, pickles and shredded greens.

Great service – very friendly and they offer sparkling water on tap.

The venue is small, but they have some bench seating and courtyard tables.

Who doesn’t love a good bagel? At last, there is a decent place to fill my lust for bagels. Although new, I’m pleasantly surprised to see consistent clientele coming here, mostly probably for their bagel fix just like me.

Let’s start with the coffee. Brought my reusable cup and with a friendly smile, the staff filled with a flat white (not overfilled as many do). Coffee was a good strength and not too bitter. So if nothing else, come here for the coffee. But wait. There’s more! The bagels. Having eaten bagels on every continent, this place holds its own. I went for the New Yorker. You can choose what sort of bagel too – plain, sesame, Everything, blueberry, cinnamon & raisin. I chose plain. Nicely packed with pastrami, gruyere cheese, pickles, dijon, aioli and greens, I was in heaven. The bagel itself was delightfully fresh without being either too moist from just coming out of the oven or dry from being a day old. Fresh! That’s the only word for it. The pastrami didn’t overpower the mixture of Dijon with aioli and the greens made me feel like I was eating something healthy – which I was.

You can dine inside, although the space is small. There is outside seating as well. Staff were fabulous and despite being busy, had a smile for everyone and worked efficiently getting orders completed.

The prices are very reasonable and along with a coffee, is well worth exploring more on the menu. Under $15 for a very good meal. Cheapest bagel is $6 and most expensive is $12. So much better supporting a new business with great food at reasonable prices than trotting into something that is a ‘machine’ making same old/same old.

Congratulations Bobby’s. Good job. I will return.

Apologies for no photo – got carried away and ate most of my bagel before I realised I hadn’t snapped a pic. Will upload one next time – and yes there will be a next time.

Oh and do check out their website. Simple and funky. Says it all.

Notes: Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Close to tram stop. Dietaries catered for – just let the staff know. Open 7am to 4pm.

Great spot for grabbing a bagel and a coffee in a small but bright shopfront hidden just off the main drag. Although the menu isn’t huge, all the classics are represented (shmears, Reubens and the like) as well as plenty of vegetarian choices. Prices are good and there’s complimentary sparkling water, which is a huge draw card for me!

Bobby's is one of Melbourne's newest bagel shops. Unlike some other venues I won't name, Bobby's is unassuming and affordable yet still polished. The haloumi and egg on a large everything bagel is great value for $8. The Supreme coffee is also nice. Great spot for a quick breakfast or lunch.

Great bagels and the coffee is on point aswell.
Try the pastrami bagel (new yorker).. so good, the meat was tender and the slaw complimented everything.. i will be trying the other bagels for sure.

Hands down best coffee in Melbourne and at a very reasonable price point ($3.5 for reg, $4 for large.) Absolutely in love with the blend - a true melbournian coffee.
The bagels are also excellent too.

Great place for both bagels and coffee!
Came here last week for a coffee and had to come back for the bagels.
Today I had a delicious New Yorker Bagel with pastrami and green slaw. Left feeling so satisfied and will definitely be back to try all the other bagels :)
Although there is limited seating, I've managed to get a seat both at the high table and outside before. So glad to have such a fabulous place open up so close to the office!
EDIT 30/4/19: Since this post I've been back another two times. Every time I've left feeling satisfied!

New bagel & coffee shop and is certainly a welcome addition as there are no dedicated bagel shops on this side of town. The menu is concise and seating is scarce however they've got outdoor seating. Convenient spot for a takeaway lunch.

The coffee is solid here, slightly stronger than your usual latte and very well rounded. It gives the other shops around the vicinity a run for their money, even a couple of my colleagues have been converted over.

You can choose from a variety of bagel creations. I get their goldie lox which is their take on smoked salmon and cream cheese. You've got the freshness of the cucumbers and the dill and capers come through nicely. The bagel itself had a nice bounciness to it, I got it with "the lot" which had a combination of sesame and poppy seeds. I couldn't stomach the pickles on the side however, they were soft and bursting with way too much brininess, I prefer them more crisp and less pickled.

Not sure if they make their own bagels or if it's sourced from a distributor. Their bagel options are limited for now (I'm talking about the bagels on their own), hopefully we'll see some sweet varieties.
