Amazingly tender and delicious beef rendang, served in a very covid-responsible takeaway. Highly recommended.

Took me a while to realise that this cafe was inside a building! Uncle David is a family run cafe which sells a combination of coffee, pastries and Malaysian rice / noodle dishes. They are also available on @ritualapp in case you want to rack up some points.
While sitting at the counter front, I observed that many people ordered the crispy satay chicken burger. They also sell Sarawak laksa (!!!).
The kolo mee ($12) was huge and satisfying enough for an office lunch. Sure, the noodles were not similar to the one I had in Kuching but it was springy and absorbed a lot of the sauce. What I loved about it though was surprisingly the char siu and fish cakes. It honestly didn’t look really appetising but it was really tender and tasted great. All this dish needs now is some pork oil!
I’d say this is a good lunch option for those working in the area ❤️ excited to come back for the laksa

A cute little cafe within the office building serving good coffee. It is run by family where everyone contributes in some way.
They also give a little brownie or cake bite with the coffee. The pastries here are good as well.
They also offer lunch but have not tried that yet, but will in future
Quiant Cafe run by friendly staff. They sell standard Cafe food with some Malaysian specialities. I deliberately went to try their Sarawak laksa and it was satisfying. The only feedback I have (which I gave to the owner) was that both of us found the soup to be not temperature hot enough.
I have declared Friday the day that I try a new place for lunch. #foodiefrontierday or something catchy like that. Let me know if you have any suggestions 😝. Anyway, last Friday I visited a new Malaysian Fusion cafe, run by the nicest family. This is the type of cafe you want to be a local and loyal customer at. They have weekly deals (I may have bought a few $2 coffees during the week before Friday lunch), fun events such as a ‘breakfast tasting party’, they remember your name, keep loyalty cards in a little box, and are always up for a chat.

A newly opened small cafe with friendly service run by a lovely couple.
The soy chai latte is smoothe and less nutty in flavour.
Ham and cheese and tomato toasted sandwich. Crispy sour dough bread sourced locally. The sandwich is quite filling.
Bacon and egg tart is a must try. Sweetness yet savoury. The relish adds tastes to the tart.
Overall, a nice cosy cafe.
Amazing food!!! Beef rendang is exceptional! Can taste the time, effort and love that went into making it. Am looking forward to any more Malaysian delights that they can concoct!
Found this little gem on Lt Collins St. Amazing food and coffee and the owners are very friendly. The Mini Macarons are delicious and a steal for the price!
