I think this place wasn't so bad, it's quite cheap but food was okay and the staff were friendly that's why i came to this place multiple times during my stay in Melbourne. Although once i ask for a tofu without rice to take away but still they gave me rice hahaha but it's not a big problem for me. I think you can't really complain about them giving plastic bowl and spoon since it's quite cheap and they gave the food in a big portion.
Convenient. Good sized bento, filling. Food is ok. Cheap. People who complain about the food and it being the worst Japanese they have eaten should really look at the price and not have high expectations... they are expecting everything for nothing. Stopped by for lunch and got a $9.90 bento box takeaway.
The seafood udon from Itoya is tasty and filling, and the fact that they serve takeaway is a huge plus.
Cheap don -- not great, not bad. The black pepper don I got as takeaway here wouldn't win any accolades from anyone who's Japanese. But at just under $10 for a bowl of uninspired, clumpy white rice and a lot of chunky chicken and onions, it was cheap and filling. Isn't it a bugger that a $10 feed seems cheap nowadays? There was a good balance of chicken to the amount of rice in one of those standard white plastic takeaway bowls. I didn't have too much excess rice left over to feed to the seagulls the next day. They probably would not have liked the MSG in the chicken. My tongue is sensitive to that stuff. When I have something made with it, it doesn't accentuate the flavours -- it flattens them. All I can taste is the salty burn. I wish Itoya and everyplace else would just lay off that crap.

GOOD VALUE. I've never had real Japanese food so I have nothing to compare this to. However, it is filling and quite enjoyable. If you're looking for some quick and tasty, this is the place to go. The service is great. It's hard to restaurant owners to always have a smile on their face. This is the second time going and I'm definitely taking others with me for round 3.

THE TASTE OF HOME!!! A BIG THUMB UP. Hi boys and girls, bumped into this site today and saw my favourite Japanese place on here and can't pass without writing them a recommendation. I come here for lunch almost EVERYDAY as it is near my workplace, i guess what keeps me coming back is the TASTE OF HOME, I love their warm dishes served with steamed rice, really warms you up on a winter day, and they taste much like home style cooking and GREAT, and you know they are very healthy being homelike. Also, their dishes are GENEROUS, you just need to order the signature "itoya box" and see for yourself with the amount of chicken and beef served. last but not the least is the friendly staff, their polite service always comes with a big smile and you will notice that they always try to make things easier for you.
Delicious!. I don't know what some of the people are complaining about, I love this place. I get Box C like 3 times a week, great Sashimi and the Sukiyaki beef is delicious. Ask the staff to put some sauce in the rice, superb!
The staff members are also very friendly, nice - and the place offers free delivery to nearby buidlings!
This place might not look very good, but I must say it was much better than I expected. Ordered the niku udon and to my delight, the beef was flavourful, tender and generous, the soup was on the lighter side but delicious and hearty, and finally the udon was cooked and made "al dente" if I can say that, texture was brilliant. Would like to try other items on the menu, but certainly at this stage, I recommend
