During lockdown I changed my eating out to eating in and I found this place for take away. Turkish food being one on my favourites. This place had heaps of delicious options to choose from and its tasted authentic and home-made which made the experience that much more enjoyable eating it at home. I'd definitely go back especially for those dips.
This restaurant boasts everything you love from a family run place. The service is fast and friendly. The set menus offer such great value for money, but you will need to book for a Saturday night; there wasn’t a spare seat - which tells you this place is excellent! There’s also a belly dancer Friday and Saturday nights around 730pm which adds to the fun. It can get a bit noisy which could make it hard to have conversations with a large group but we went as a 6 and no problems. There’s very limited parking out the front but there’s a parking on the side street (you may need to walk a short bit depending on when you go)
A great little place to eat! We had the mini set menu which was really good value, everything we were served was delish! Particularly enjoyed the dips. We will be back!
This place is like your favourite pair of slippers, nothing much to look at but brings so much satisfaction every time you slip them on with a perfectly cooked lamb shish. Been here over a dozen times over the years and the dishes are always consistently delish. Babaganush is the best I’ve had... I could face plant into a bowl of it every day of the week. Weirdly the Turkish bread is nowhere near as good if you get it takeout? But god it’s yum if you order in
Came here last night and had the $39.50 pp set menu. Was delicious! We received 7 dips with bread (more bread offered for free), dolma, Lamb kofte and cheese cigars to start. For mains there was shaved chicken and lamb, chicken and lamb cutlet and skewers of chicken and lamb, served with pilaf and garden salad. For dessert we had tea and Turkish coffee and Turkish delight and baclava. Obviously a family run restaurant-cosy and relaxed. Would go back!
Small family run restaurant. Food is amazing and service is great. Some of my favourites are mixed grill and chicken ribs. End your meal with some traditional Turkish coffee and Turkish delight.

Amazing hidden gem with fantastic food and service!
We came here for a Saturday night dinner together after feeling for some Turkish food, we decided to try here based on the rating and it being so close by yet never something we had looked at before. We called up Saturday arvo to see if there were any tables for later that night but to our surprise it was booked out but the young waiter who answered our call, asked if we would want a call back if a table freed up and so we put our name and number down and about 20mins later we got a call so we went straight there.
When we got to the little strip of shops, it was actually hard to see the venue at first glance as its hidden quite well amongst the shops, we opened the door and was not expecting the full crowd of people inside. This place is clearly a family style restaurant and not for your average couple dinners like we had initially expected but we were still keen to have gotten a table last minute so we sat down even though it was pretty loud and rowdy. We later came to understand that this is the style and vibe of the place which really adds to the whole Turkish family restaurant dinning and it's not bad, was just a little confronting at the start, walking into a full, very loud restaurant.
We ordered the mixed grill banquet which gave us 5 dips, Turkish bread, mixed chicken and lamb donner and shish kebabs served with rice and salad as well as a choice of dessert including baklava or Turkish delight with coffee or tea.
The 5 dips were excellent, fresh and full of flavour! The bread was hot and fluffy and perfect to dip with, we were even offered more complimentary bread when we finished and we obliged but we were nervous we would fill up on the bread. The mixed grill was cooked amazingly, the meat was juicy and flavoursome, not dry! The food was amazing!
For dessert the young waiter also offered us complimentary desserts as we were only allowed to pick one, but he served us both baklava and Turkish delight with a Turkish coffee which was a really nice touch at the end of the night. The service here was great from start to finish as the waiter took care of us all night and was very pleasant at every exchange. We decided to personally tip the waiter $20 for his hard work and great service.
Highly recommend this place, if it's local to you, the please stop in and try it out. Best to come with a big group of friends or family, we will be coming back with a group soon.
What a great little find. Service is friendly. Food is yummy. Authentic (we are basing this judgement on the clientele). Bill was cheap. We will be back.
It’s just a little spot on the Nepean near Parkdale but it’s packing a punch in delicious Turkish fare, think delicious dips, grilled breads and plates of wonderful meat!! It’s a no frills kind of place, BYO – simple and friendly. The menu is all the usual suspects and it’s pretty cheap and easy. Our bill was $150 between 6 and my birthday dinner has never been cheaper!!!
Guzel Istanbul does not look much from the outside, nor the inside for that matter, but do not let that put you off. If you are after delicious traditional Turkish food then you will not be disappointed! Guzel is also BYO.
Warm bread, fresh dips and juicy, melt in your mouth shish kebab. What more could you want!

Always delicious and fresh food with generous portions either take away or dine in a great prices , we love supporting a local and a family business, classic quirky absolutely just like dining in the family home Always wholesome and they are Always smiling definitely recommend.
At first, we were surprised of how the menu worked and the lack of options available, but we ended up ordering the mini menu and a pizza.
The dips arrived with some freshly baked bread that was crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. It was cut up into small square pieces that were perfect for dipping. The dips were freshly made and amazing. We got the hummus, beetroot, yogurt with cucumber, and the tomato dip.
Up next came the pizza which was not your regular pizza. It had a flat sheet of crisp bread under the toppings which was amazing. And the toppings themselves were also out of this world. (I recommend squeezing some lemon juice on it).
Then came the main course. Two plates of kebab and and chicken shish with a bed of rice underneath and a small salad on the side. And let me tell you, it was phenomenal.
The desserts were average but that didn’t matter as this in my opinion is the best restaurant in Melbourne.
Wow what awesome kebab's never been there my family wanted kebab's on Turkish bread so I looked up kebab's on Google maps had a good ratings put in a phone order
Lovely Food. $43 set menu, great way to taste some delicious food.
Great quality produce makes great fresh food and they do it everytime ,fantastic Turkish food.
