I had the pancakes so delicious � only fault I found for me was the mascarpone on top too rich would have perfect with ice cream option or whipped cream and the portion was epic could easily share with another person so generous but I will def be back for other things on the menu
Great coffee and breakfast at this hidden gem. Will definitely be back to enjoy their other meals. Wish I had room for the Poached Pear Pancakes. Highly recommended.
I have devoured a lot of pancakes in my life but none of them have tasted as great as theirs and the portions are enormous! They also mix the pancake lineup so it’s not the same experience every time you come in but you are sure to love what they’ve got!

Eggs Benedict with perfectly poached eggs, THE MOST AMAZING BACON that I have ever tasted (and a generous portion to boot), delicately grilled bread - so that it was still soft on the inside, and beautiful hollandaise sauce, but far from enough of it on my plate, it would have made Manu cry!
Great coffee, friendly staff, would highly recommend taking a detour out that way!
What a wonderful cafe in such a wonderful spot! Out of the way & peaceful, surrounded by history of the Midland Railway workshops. No traffic to be seen surrounding the cafe. Loved our Eggs Bene, huge portion and yummy at a reasonable price. May be our breakfast go to place for now on.
Syd & Philis is a great place to go for brunch, location really isn’t in there favor but its a great cafe with some really unique options on the menu! I personally thought it was a bit awkward how you end up sitting next to strangers because of how the tables are set up but thats just me... any how definitely would recommend checking this place out!
Got recommended this place by a friend. We already knew the coffee would be good as use Bolt coffee beans at home. It is not disappoint. Both dishes were delicious and the servings were huge. The pancakes were thick yet crispy on the edges and fluffy on the inside. Eating just half was enough for me. The fungi dish was amazing.. one of the best mushroom dishes I’ve had in a while. With an assortment of mushrooms and a good spicy kick. Would come again and again for this dish. The low points was the chai latte which was very milky and I could hardly taste any of the spices. The service wasn’t that great either especially given we came on a rainy weekday and there were only a few other tables occupied. Overall we really enjoyed it and will be back soon.
Syd & Phyllis is situated in a great little location, away from roads and facing a lovely grassed area. The cafe is quaint and peaceful, staff were friendly and accommodating. I ordered the Fungi Toast which was delightful, so many flavours and different types of mushrooms included in the dish. The coffee was delicious, smooth but not too weak either. I plan to come back and try as many dishes as I can!
Pretty Good food, absolutely superb coffees, the location is award winning and you need to see for yourself what they’ve done with Railway Square - site of old workshops
Omelette was divine! So flavoursome and a generous portion. Coffee was perfect, super smooth. Nice ambiance and setting, very quiet and intimate.
This place is actually very good. My mocha had a roast marshmallow and the beef brisket was amazing. Recommend a visit if you are in Midland.
I ordered the bacon and eggs on toast and added mushrooms. Mushrooms were some of the best I've had and as a whole the meal was delicious! Coffee was also great. The only fault was that the food took a little while to come out, but it was worth the wait.
