I'm guessing this has bad reviews because it used to be under a previous management? Anyways, I've been regularly having food from Flake Haven for over a year now ever since my partner moved close by and it is the best fish and chip shop I've ever had food from. We literally order takeaway weekly from here. I've had the chips, chicken burger, potato cake and fish from here. Batter is super crispy on all and the portion size is great. Prices are also really affordable and probably slightly cheaper than most fish and chip places, especially ones of this quality. My partner and I usually order $5 chips (enough for 2-4 people as a side/snack) or chicken burgers/fish if we're having dinner. My partner has tried the lot burger before and has liked it too. Our classic afternoon snack order is $5 chips with extra chicken salt (they don't charge you for the extra salt). Staff are all friendly too which is a bonus! I think locals in the area have the same opinion because the shop always seems to have orders going, even at non-peak times (waiting time is around 10 mins btw). We always call beforehand then pick it up 10 mins later.TLDR: 5 stars, quality and the price of the food are amazing, don't be scared by the bad rating.
New owners have done wonders to this place. The chips are finally delicious, fluffy and crispy- the addition of chicken salt is delicious. The grilled fish is great, extremely flavoursome and doesn't have the thick coating other places have on their grilled fish. Potato cakes are amazing, nice and crispy... people are lovely and don't know why others are complaining as the food has only improved since their takeover.
Seriously, the best batch of fish and chips we, as a family, have had for ages. Perfectly cooked and served with friendly service. Keep up the good work!
Super fast, delicious food. No one standing in store, all waiting outside to collect their orders. Well done flake haven.

I've had burgers, souvlakis and my fave is the fish finger pack. Generous pieces of fish and chips for a decent price. Fresh and decent fish n chip ship.

TLDR: 5 stars, quality and the price of the food are amazing, good to support a local business during COVID-19 too.
Ordered a fried whiting, was served crispy and hot. Best I’ve had in a while. Very satisfied with the service too!
