3 cheers for the Pickled Pig.
Breakfast menu is small (which isn’t a criticism) but really really good.
The staff are extremely pleasant and have a fantastic table manner. When it comes to kids, they are amazing and will put a smile on any child’s face.
Thank you PD, we were overwhelmed with your professionalism, service, flavours and all round experience.
Been here a few times now and can confidently say - get the onion rings. Crispy, golden and not oily. Not a big burger person, but instead of opting for the pizza, I opted for a pulled pork and asian slaw slider and a beef brisket w onion relish slider. A tad too much sauce/aioli on both, however the brisket slider was an absolute winner. Decent gf/v options if youre into that. Close to home and fair prices.

We were at this place last night. The first thing that caught our eyes is, 'Man, They telecast live cricket!' 😁 We ordered a Veggie Pizza (9'') and a Mediterranean lamb pizza (12''). The pizzas were thin crusted and we liked it that way. The topping were sumptuous! The Veggie Pizza had a good load of olives, which we loved the most 😁 The service was good. We had hot chips too. The quantity was impressive. We also had some soft drinks like coke, pepsi and some beer and wine. The bar menu has very good spread and the bar is nicely arranged too 😁 . The place was crowdy but not overflowing which gave the right feel for a good weekend dine. In short, we loved the place 😁 Sadly we were not able to get either duck or seafood. As we went in there expecting both of these. We felt that the food can be a bit more spicy and you know, it varies person to person.

This place is incredibly spacious. You can’t make bookings but you also don’t need it because there are so many tables.
The serving sizes are simply so large that we could not finish our entrees and mains and felt quite bad about wasting so much food.
The food is delicious although I wouldn’t bother with the duck sampler, it wasn’t that great for the cost.
Everyone in the north east of Adelaide has been there, wants to go there or goes there so much that they know all the staff by name. Get there early for dinner, they don't take bookings so it's first in best dressed.
My companions and I got on with it and ordered up, we were starving and we had Mr 14months with us who was just itching for some wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. Yes, Mr 14 months eats sweet chilli sauce.
I ordered a Duck Slider with pickled green onion and carrot slaw and a side of Beer Battered Sidewinders with Chilli Con Queso. I had to Google Sidewinders, I had no idea what they looked like. I knew they were a hot chip of sorts, I hadn't heard of them and I thought I knew my hot carb sides. I wasn't disappointed. The Sidewinders were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, cooked perfectly and I couldn't get enough of the Chilli Con Queso. I could have used my fingers to lick the bowl clean and noooooo I didn't, but I could've.

The nachos wedges were amazing, such a great combo with cheese sauce, avocado, salsa and sour cream. The soft shell crab burger had a generous sized crab, but the whole burger was a bit dry and neede sauce. I will be back to try the desserts and more burgers soon
We dined on a Monday night and it was packed! As a result the atmosphere from customers was good.
Menu is sliders, burgers, pizzas and sides.
Counter service: which was prompt but not particularly friendly.
The kitchen was open and busy - shame to see kitchen staff all grumpy - an open kitchen highlights the mood of the staff and it didn't look happy.
We all had burgers and onion rings and fries.....and they were all hot and delicious!
Fast service on food.
Drinks service was quick but I was surprised that I got a belligerent eye roll from the young waitress when I asked for a glass for my can of soft drink.
Service from counter staff and bar staff was not engaging at all, which was a shame: they all seemed tired and over it.
The place has so much potential and turnover is evidently high: it just needs a decent front of house manager to cheer the staff up.
We will return, and hope for more charismatic service.
The Pickled Duck was packed when we visied for lunch on a Sunday. Still, we managed to get a table instantly and service came quickly. The diner has a rustic like vibe, exposed brick walls, wooden panels and warm tones.
Between the 3 of us, we ordered 2 burgers and a pizza with a side of chips and onion rings. All mains were packed with flavour, meat ingredients were pull apart tender. The chips were cooked to perfection and the onion rings were the tastiest that I've tried. The small negative to the meals was the large amount of oil. While they were good, they certainly left us craving for something fresh. A small side salad would have been nice to balance the bloated feeling we recieved after. Presentation could also be improved.
We also noticed that a few cleaning products (along with a bucket and hose) had been left out near us, that was a unsavory to look at when eating.
Overall we really enjoyed our meals and would recommend this location to any gourment food lover.
Went here for lunch. Great food. The menu has a good selection. We wanted to try everything! The burgers have great flavours. Yummy loaded milkshakes. Plenty of seating for busy lunch times.
Went for dinner on a Tuesday night. The place was cranking!! I could hardly hear the person we were sitting with across the table, it was so noisy in there. Meals took their time to come out (they were busy) but the burgers were very tasty and the sides were amazing! The chips side we ordered (pictured) was basically nachos but with chips EPIC!!!!! Not bad for a pub based walk in cafe style burger bar. Think we will be back!! 👍🏻👍🏻😊
Went with a friend on Friday night. The curly fries were absolutely amazing, but my sliders were very average. My friend had the double burger. She said it was nice, but just too much. Overall not a bad night out
A spacious and modern eatery that overlooks a beautiful park and boasts amazing hamburgers, salads, sliders and pizzas. The ingredients are very fresh and colourful with every dish coming out of the kitchen looking like a treat. The huge choice of hamburgers and pizzas suit all palettes from the fussy plain eaters to the gourmet eaters. The pulled pork salad was divine as were the sliders overflowing with delicious fillings and sauces. Only complaint I would have were the over-salted chips and the very young waiting staff who didn't look like they wanted to be there but to their credit they were always on their toes and prompt. I'll definitely go back for a casual lunch with friends because I could have stayed in there for hours.
Ate here on Saturday night & the place was super packed. The wait time for food was just over an hour so we were pretty hungry by the time it arrived. Luckily everything we ordered was delicious, especially the curly fries & jalapeño poppers!
This is a relatively new restaurant right opposite ttp. Great modern space with a cellar. Their speciality are gourmet burgers and pizzas. Had the onion rings and sweet potatoes which were spot on. Crispy and not oily. We tried the burgers which was the breakfast burger, the 'field of dreams' and the 'you ask for it hot'. All are highly recommended with excellent brioche buns. Would definitely return
Went yesterday. Service was great! Fast and friendly. Ordered 2 burgers n sweet potatoe chips. All were really good. The sauce that comes with the chips is amazing. Wish it came with more! Had an iced coffee, was really good. Had enough coffee flavour and sweetness from the cream and icecream.. wanted a crazy milkshake but wanted to eat all my meal. I will deff be back.
I had the classic beef. It wasn't greasy however the size of the burgers were a little smaller than expected. The flavours worked well together. Their fries were crunchy and I love the dip with it. The service was quick for New Year's Eve at about 8pm.
Finally came here after watching T.P.D. turn into a trendy eating spot in Adelaide. Presentation with food and decor is outstanding considering it's still a casual setting. If you don't know what to choose, classic chicken burger is probably the best option (in photo). Can't wait to try more on the menu! I hope one day we'll be able to book tables though.
SOOOO GOOD I LOVE IT,
If you love burgers, pizza and salads, than this is the place for u!
The decor is beautiful and really nice bathrooms!
AMAZING!!!!
This place has a lovely view of the park and is open aired on one side. It doesn't take bookings & can get very busy & loud sometimes. My partner wasn't sure which beer to order so he was given a tasting of the Lobethal pilsner which he then ordered. We had hot chips (which were amazingly hot) plus I had an Aussie prime burger with egg while he had the Americana and both were good. During the wait for our food I noticed a staff member walking about offering wine tastings. I saw pizzas being brought out of the kitchen & they looked yummy - maybe next time. Due to a slip-up, our food was delayed and this was noticed by the staff who then chased it up & offered us complimentary coffees to make amends. Instead, we decided to order a free chocolate tasting plate for dessert which was delicious and due to being given a few extra items, we took home the brownies & truffles for later. I was impressed with how helpful the staff were.
Extensive menu that mainly consists of burgers and pizza, however there are some healthier options. Nice decor, always bustling at lunch time. Good coffee.
Fairly new establishment went a week ago just for after work drinks was very impressed decor and really good service. So last night decided to take the whole family for pizzas and found it to be AAA++. Was very busy arriving at 9pm and the places opens till midnight would highly recommend people to try
Came here with a group of friends for dinner. Even though they don't do reservations, we were seated very quickly. The pulled pork was a little dry and the sliders didn't have enough "slaw". The sweet buns they use for the burgers were nice and the Tropico Chicken burger was particularly good especially with the combination of well cooked bacon and pineapple. The potato chips were good but the sweet potato ones were a bit oily. I think the sweet potato absorbs too much oil during the cooking process.
The waffles had a good texture - slightly crunchy outside (but not too much) and soft on the inside. The American sundaes were a generous size and the chocolate tasting plate was a bit of a chocolate overload so it would be good if in future they could be more creative with the tasting plate and introduce different flavours to compliment the chocolate. The nutella burger is an interesting creation though I would leave off the strawberry sauce and up the nutella. I liked the accompanying butter cake fries which tasted like a cross between churros and cinnamon donuts.
Friendly, efficient staff, nice atmosphere and overall a good night out.
Love this place. Great venue, delicious burgers. The chocolate platter and sundaes are amazing! Service is great and friendly. Definitely recommend it!
The wedding we were in Adelaide to attend was being held at Sfera’s Park Suites and Convention Centre and we were staying there for convenience. However it meant we did not have easy access to the abundance of dining options in the city, but the wedding couple suggested Pickled Duck was around the corner for the hungry.
Very Very Good .. Don't Hesitate ..Go Try..Its a great burger joint.. and well done to them... Im not a big one for no table service and expensive bucket food .. THE PICKLED DUCK IS NOT THAT .. Order at the counter is cool with everything on the menu at under $20. Very different menu and great tasting burgers!!! Great decor .. Actually my Swiss Beef Burger was presented so well and was so juicy and flavoursome..Someone there gives a Shit! Well Done hallelujah ...PD!
Surprising find in the north! Wow...After arriving on a Friday night and not being able to book we had to wait a little for a table...however we didn't mind at all with the free wine tasting on offer!! The menu is your typical burger place, but the dessert menu was not typical at all. Staff were busy however still friendly and proficient, clearing tables quickly between sittings. Food came out quickly, was tasty and insanely cheap!
great location, as the only 'hip' and in 'trendy' cafes / restaurants you'll find in the city or Norwood, luckily The Pickled Duck is Great because there is only one place like it in Modbury. The food is great, the burgers are a must and is very popular for dinner. If ya want a taste bud sensation come here. Best place in Modbury and is easy to get to, cant beat that really.
Food was great. I had the Americana Burger and it was good, though the patty could have been a squashed out more before cooking, so it fit the bun better. Also would be good if the burger came with a few fries or something on the side. Partner had a Hawaian Pizza, and she was very happy with that. Base was nice and crisp, ingredients fresh. We also had sweet potato fries, onions rings and Jalapeno poppers. The poppers were a bit meh, but the onion rings were amazing! Definitely recommend those. The sweet potato fries were also pretty darn good.
Staff were nice and friendly, but found that they weren't too keen on taking away empty glasses, cans, plates etc. On a small table with four people, it was starting to get a bit crowded with empties!
Also our mains came out before the entrees, not a huge issue, but some better timing would be good, especially since it wasn't super busy.
Overall, great food, everyone was happy and well fed. Prices were very reasonable. Will be back for sure.
Amazing yummy food! Best burgers in Adelaide by far! This now my third time here and they just don't disappoint - they deliver on every front in a fresh vibrant atmosphere.
First time I have been to The Pickled Duck I like the hipster vibe of the place. I had the soft shell crab burger with a side of sweet potato fries. I really enjoyed it! So crunchy and very tasty. Prices were pretty good. Will definitely be back for more.
Love the atmosphere and decor. The pizza was good too with lots of toppings. Very generous servings with the gelato which finished off the night perfectly. ;)
I was actually pleasantly surprised going here after reading some of the negative reviews. This place was pumping and it was only a Wednesday night. Great atmosphere and stylish setting. I tried the pork and duck sliders with a side of chips. The chips were just great with a small dish of a very tasty aoli/chilli type of sauce. Both of the sliders were tasty however my pork one was lacking in meat and slaw. My duck one however was really yummy and had a generous amount of duck in it. The prices were very reasonable I thought. Overall I will definitely be back here again! This place has amazing potential to be one of the most popular eating places in the North Eastern suburbs!
Keen to try new places especially when they are close to home Adelaide Food Central decided to visit the newly opened gourmet burger and pizza bar, The Pickled Duck Kitchen & Cellar, suitably located on North East Road opposite Westfield Tea Tree Plaza. Upon entering The Pickled Duck you notice the large light-filled dining area which leads out to a small beer garden overlooking Civic Park. Whilst the name screams Asian to me, it is the ducks that roam Civic Park that inspired the name and I can only assume that ‘pickled’ is in relation to the nearby Modbury Plaza Hotel, or perhaps the adjoining cellar and bottle shop. The main dining area is decked out in simplistic, yet stylish matching wooden tables with complementary black chairs. The wooden theme extends to the floorboards and panelled ceiling, with downlights and some eye-catching pendant lighting completing the picture. A marble bar, together with a large wood-fired pizza oven in view from the entrance, runs the length of the café and makes for a focal point.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff food was very good for "glorified pub style" meals came out very quickly and the woodoven pizza was my fave (taste of Italy) beers on tap could have more of a range of craft beers.
All in all would return again
What a lovely spot indeed! Right next to civic park & part of the Plaza Hotel, the new Pickled Duck has a decor of a wooden open feel and is fresh and inviting, similar to the Bluegums Hotel. For having only been open a few weeks, the food is good- will admit we had 2wait a fair while, but was worth the wait once the food was there. Had the Duck Pizza and being Woodoven gourmet it was deelish. Burgers had were liked and the sides were great- sidewinders (swirled potatoes) were a hit as well as the sweet potato fries, & onion rings were a light batter that left u wanting more! Must come back for dessert as they sound ridiculously awesome and being close 2home will definitely be back soon! :)
