201909 a high tea place that does it right, Mary Eats Cake. Montrose location is further out than their Brunswick one but they've transformed an older house for it. Loved the furnishings and finishing touches. Food had a good variety of the usual fare found for high teas. Mum loved it! Booked for her birthday but mother's day upcoming would be splendid too.

We had a relaxing 'sparkling' high tea at Mary Eats Cake, Montrose yesterday, and absolutely loved it. Friendly and attentive staff. The food was delicious and fresh, but not so rich that we left feeling ill. Tried different teas to match the savoury and sweet. Even the quaint cups and saucers made it a real treat.

Had such a delightful time today at Mary Eats Cake. My mum and I enjoyed, as well as a group of friends enjoyed a delicious high tea set. For $50 we were able to enjoy an adorable spread of cakes, sandwiches, scones and tea. They also offer vegan and gluten free options, allowing everyone to enjoy their services. I enjoyed the vegan set, which included vegan scone with coconut cream and jam, chia pudding, veggie pies and much more. The food was so delicious and not too heavy. My favourite was the shepherd pie, snickers slice and matcha chia pudding. One amazing thing is that if you can’t finish what you’ve ordered, you are allowed to take it home to enjoy later. They also gave us two scones each!

The interior was very cute, decorated with flowers and pretty paintings. The staff were extremely nice and were a delight to talk to. You can also organise different functions here...it would be a great place to hold a baby shower or party. Overall, an amazing experience and I cannot wait to come back!

Quaint pretty vintage venue with private rooms for the booking that’s great for a girls get together or a special occasion and celebration! Lovely High Tea selection of sweet cakes and savouries and an aromatic range of teas and other drinks and wine to choose from. The staff here are simply wonderful and so upbeat and cheerful that it brightens up the atmosphere more than the chandeliers and gilded mirrors that adorns the venue.

I have been to the brunswick location and it didn’t disappoint. This one was just as amazing. It’s a beautiful drive and worth it. Friendly and great service. Food is delicious

One of my absolute favorite high tea venues in Melbourne! The venue is delightfully styled, staff are welcoming and friendly and the food is divine. Highly recommend the fruity pink glacier cocktail, delicious!

Such a beautiful venue. It’s a lot larger than their Brunswick location. The staff are lovely. Please note they don’t split bills so make sure to bring cash. Thanks to the staff for splitting the bill just this once to help us out. Much appreciated although I realise it would have been time consuming.

I loved that they had mini high tea sets. I tried the savoury version and everything was lovely. Some of my friends tried the savoury and sweets mini high tea and they enjoyed it as well.

Mary Eats Cake also has a huge and unique tea assortment. I tried their coconut mint tea. So nice! Would go back there just for the tea! Would love to try their larger high tea some time.

Also the venue stays open quite late, some nights until 6pm!

I have a whole lot of love for Mary Eats Cake having had my bridal shower at their original Brunswick eatery. So when they invited me to try their latest lovely location I jumped at the chance. The venue is located at the foothills of the Dandenongs and a great little spot for a day trip with the girls (or a short drive for the lucky locals). The space is absolutely gorgeous with beautiful fresh flowers on all the tables, private function room sections, stunning teaware with an elaborate chandelier and oversized brass mirror being the focal point.
The menu itself is seasonal and includes the generous offer of unlimited scones which your friendly waiter will circulate with to top up your tier. The cost is also very reasonable for the deliciousness and high quality you receive, $49 for standard high tea and $10 for champagne. I quite like this as many high tea venues have the cost of the champagne included in the price which doesn’t particularly suit me as shock horror I don’t really like bubbles! You can also opt in to add a fruit and cheese plate for $8pp which was a very generous serving and I would definitely recommend you partake. We also tried the macarons (my favourites) which are another addition if you want a little something extra.
The waitress checked in on us at several intervals and changed our tea to different blends as we moved through the tiers. We started with the Brunswick breakfast and moved to a citrus tea before ending on a fruity berry tea. They are also available to purchase and take home.
For me the food at Mary is some of the best I’ve seen at a high tea. Some particular highlights for me were the slow cooked beef sandwich and the mango sherbet cheesecake. I would absolutely recommend for an event too due to my personal experience. In fact one was going on in a private room as we were there. Our experience was flawless and I couldn’t believe they’d only been running three weeks. I can’t wait to return!

I had a booking for high tea here last year but it got cancelled due to lockdown. We received a gift voucher to come back another time. Finally made it! We went on a Friday in February and were the only people there! Despite being the only people, we felt quite comfortable. The waitress was lovely and very helpful. The decor is gorgeous and the entire experience was wonderful! The amount of food was perfect to fill us up, and we had bottomless scones and tea. The scones were delicious!! Highly recommend! Such a cute little place!

Celebrating a special occasion? If so then Mary Eats cake, could absolutely be the place for you. I honestly think they could provide a little less food and reduce the price per head as it is a lot of food however everything was totally delicious, the venue is beautiful and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and efficient. We had a great time, even if we were a little stuffed afterwards.

This was my first experience at Mary Eats Cake, and I will definitely be coming back! I was invited to a Hens High Tea at the place, and my goodness. The towers of food were delicious. From the savoury to sweet, you’re hit with so many lovely combinations and flavours. Highly recommend eating as many scones with cream and jam as you can - The scones are so soft and delicious! We also got a cheese platter which was presented very nicely and came with some lovely fresh fruit. Staff are attentive and accommodating to your needs - always asking if you’re wanting more tea, or champagne, or more scones! It’s also very aesthetically pleasing and well decorated. Very homey vibe! I highly recommend going at least once :)

Make sure to come with lots of room in your stomach for a fulfilling experience! High tea is always a great way to celebrate and although I didn't have anything special happening. The decor is fantastic, with a bright atmosphere perfect for things like mothers day. There were some very interesting foods served. The savoury treats are decent, my favourite being the croissant with a unique sweet and savoury combo. By far though the sweet options are the highlights. They were nothing I had before and it was really fun trying it all out. My favourite drink served was the Pimms and that is going to be my go to drink over mimosa for brunch. It's just a better more refreshing drink in my opinion. And of course there were many tea selections on offer and you can even make your own blend. I didn't try that so maybe next time. The tea was placed on a candle which actually kept the drink warm, amazing. I enjoyed the experience here and when a special occasion does come up in the future I'll definitely come back.

I had my bridal shower at Mary Eats Cake, Montrose and it was amazing. The booking process was smooth, Calista was so helpful and accommodating, even when I asked 1000 questions! On the day, the staff looked after us perfectly. Special thanks to Tiana (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) who went above and beyond (and was a fellow Swiftie!). The food, mimosas and tea were delicious, and the decor was gorgeous. Loved the day and can’t wait to go back.

Best scones I've ever tasted! Crunchy on the top and super fluffy in the middle. Beautiful atmosphere, very clean and great service.

Beautiful place setting, comfortable spacing between tables. Scones were really yum however some of the other sweet items taste on the unbalanced side. Not enough savoury to balance the sweets too. Choice of tea was not offered and there was black tea all ready at the table; service was a bit slow and would feel like asking for a different pot of tea will take ages.
