My daughter has just moved here and found this place on best places to eat. We went for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend
Fantastic recommendation by our lovely waitress, all staff we're attentive and great with my little one, ( and funny!) actually can't wait to go back! Highly recommend the Protein Bowl
Cute corner cafe in Moonee Ponds, with delicious food & drinks and very friendly staff!
I ordered the pikelets which had watermelon honey, berries, mango cream, passionfruit, honeycomb and fresh kiwi. It was by far the best pikelets I've ever had. I also ordered a delicious raspberry smoothie that kept my belly satisfied for hours.
My hubby ordered himself the big breakfast board that came with a granola bowl, 7 grain toast, smashed avo, newmarket bacon, halloumi, poached egg, hash brown & a fresh orange juice. And judging by him “Mmmm..mmm” noises, I’d say his meal was also a winner!
This quirky cafe is tucked away in the middle of houses. It does very much feel like you’re having a meal at home. They have 3 rooms the front room, the back room and the courtyard all of which you can eat in.
On arrival we were told to find our own table however, it then took about 15-20 minutes for someone to come give us a menu (we even had to grab our own water) and then then go off to find a waiter to take our order 15 minutes after receiving the menu.
Apart from that mishap the service was good and the staff were friendly and chatty.
We ordered the barramundi and eggs on toast.
I think the portions could be a little bigger for the price of the food. The barramundi was small and didn’t come with a lot extra. But it was very much enjoyed and was very tasty.
My poached eggs, bacon and salad were lovely. The bacon was thick and perfect.
It was a good brunch, but I do think portions need to be a little bigger and that service on first arrival needs to be on point.
I would go again. But please add mushrooms to your sides? :)
Friendly staff, and beautifully presented food!
With a friendly and welcoming vibe as soon as you enter, Darling Street Espresso is a great café. It also has plenty of seating and a cute, heated outside area.
Very doggo friendly too - we saw plenty!
Food was very colourful, fresh and healthy. Portion sizes were great and good value for money.
My açai bowl was so fresh and summery! Fritters were flavoursome and not dry at all, which I’ve found to happen with a lot of fritters. Smoothies were beautifully presented and with plenty of dairy-free options available, we were super happy. Our chai’s were actual perfection.
A great café! A must-visit if you’re in the Moonee Ponds/ Essendon area.
A little local hot spot serving good service and great coffee. They have a number of breakfast and lunch dishes on offer

Feels like your walking down to the corner store to have breakfast with family.
📍Located in Moonee Ponds, this is located on a quiet corner within the
🔆I loved both areas of seating. Inside was cosy with an old rustic charm but with modern touches. The courtyard offers outdoor seating but completely sheltered in a marquee. Perfect if the weather is windy or a bit drizzly. You can still enjoy the fresh air, completely protected from the elements. Both areas were busy but not crowded. A perfect location for your Sunday coffee or catch up with friends.
👥The staff were all wonderful. Out waitress was so friendly and gave a lot of options and recommendations which added a really unique touch of personality to the restaurant. The dishes were served to us in the perfect timing (not too quick, not too slow).
🌟🌟The Fit Hit’s Tip – If you’re a dog lover, this is definitely the place for you. We saw multiple dogs that were all just as cute as the next.🌟🌟
🍽The Friendly Porridge $19
A great option for vegetarians and anyone who may be gluten free.
🍽Shoestring Fries $6.50
The perfect addition to this brunch. I’ve never tried having chips with a brunch before… but it was absolutely genius by @currentlylovingblog
🌟One thing I noticed with Darling St Espresso was their innovative and unique specials that seem to be constantly changing. You won’t ever get sick of the menu, as their frequently changing their menu specials – and each one, sounds just as good as the last. The consistency is quite remarkable.

Super cute little local with great food and friendly service every time.
You can also always count on their specials being great. Must visit!
Lovely little cafe with great food and welcoming feel.
We loved our visit to this cafe, which is located in the suburbs surrounded by homes away from the busy streets! They have a gorgeous front seating area, and a lovely quaint courtyard at the back. We sat in the courtyard and then ordered breakfast.
We got their special dish which was a Nutella Japanese Hotcake, that was heavenly! We got the breakfast board, and the porridge was absolutely delicious along with this thick bacon and halloumi.
Then we also had the baked eggs which wow, they were rich and full of flavour! Highly recommend visiting this place soon!
Darling street espresso is situated in the middle of good old Moonee Ponds.. you wouldn’t expect to find this place in the middle of a suburb but it sits right next to a school and is hard to miss due to the crowds..
We came by one Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy so we sat on the communal table.. the coffee was very nice and aromatic.. the hot chocolate was very yummy too..
we tried the eggs skillet which was tasty however it felt a bit too sour.. the pork sausage was oily but the fennel salad balanced it out well..
Located off the main streets of Moonee Ponds, Darling St Espresso is a neighbourhood gem which is housed within a renovated corner store. The café serves up a creative brunch menu which delights and surprises using the best local ingredients. The best part is, everything is made in house.
