The best fish and chips I've ever had!! The batter on everything is absolutely delicious and crunchy, it's not oily at all, the fish is so fresh and the serving sizes are very generous at affordable price points. I get the hunky dory pack for a good selection of menu items that I know will fill my stomach with happiness! The space itself has a nice and light beach vibe which is incredibly inviting. Come hungry and ready for some good food!
Amazing service here and the food comes out really quick. Really good greek salad here amazing taste and texture. Chips are also crispy. Salmon nice and tender

Great fish and chips on a grand scale. The fried calamari is delicious, the grilled fish was just as good. Chips are always a highlight. Hunky Dory has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and food that always delivers. Highly recommended.
Looking for a local fish and chips with FINesse? ;) well you’ve arrived at your destination. Hunky Dory’s is Melbournes upmarket fish and chip shop. With restaurant settings and take away options this franchise is beginning to blow up. They offer the standard fish and chips but loads more options with calamari, grilled and fresh seafood and salads.
Definitely recommend checking it out - but get in early it gets real busy!

Was a very busy Friday night at Hunky Dory in Moonee Ponds.
Customer service was pretty good and food was delicious!
Rice was well seasoned and calamari was absolutely the bomb!!! My favourite dish at Hunky!
Only bad thing was the Greek salad! Wasn’t dressed very well and just tasted oily...

I’ve been here soooo many times with my family and I’m impressed with the food and service. The food is simply delicious and it is quickly made. This place is somewhere I always come back to.
I love hunky dory! It’s a relaxed atmosphere, you never have to wait long, the food is fresh and the serving sizes are great. The grilled calamari is delicious, it has this really nice salt mix on it and the grilled salmon fillet is also great. Big fan of the miso broccoli and kale super salad!!

Having visited the Watergardens store and enjoying our experience and new found cravings for Fish and Chips, we decided today to visit Hunky Dory in Moonee Ponds. Located amongst a hub of restaurants and a shopping precinct, this was the perfect destination for a warm evening.
Notoriously known for how busy it is, today was no different with almost every table full and a queue beginning to form. Expect a wait time for food if it is busy! Regardless, we were fortunate to get a seat right away and to have our food come quite quickly too. Service here is definitely friendly and welcoming, with staff attentive and accommodating to your needs. The overall ambience of the restaurant also resembles a positive fish and chips environment.
Today we ordered two hunky dory packs and a salmon fillet on its own. The salmon fillet here is definitely crispier than Watergardens, tasting fresh and tender / melt in your mouth good. The flake is also noticeably larger, tasty, whilst the dim sims also tasted great. The chips however were quite bland, much like the potato cakes. Dry, a bit tough, but otherwise a decent compliment to the stars of the show- the fish. We can't blame them as the amount of people here surely influence this.
Overall a very satisfying meal, and one we would recommend to fish lovers. Try the salmon and the flake :)

Really love the food here! The quality is pretty good, and the portions are very decent for the price point! They’re always super busy, and they have a nice outdoor seating area which is great in the summer!
We got The Bay fried pack which was really yummy and good size for sharing. The flake was super crispy and fresh. Added on an extra fried blue grenadier which was just as good! Their potato cakes are yummy too, worth a try!
A highlight for me was the Salt n Pepper Fried Calamari - a must order! It comes with a sweet chilli mayo which tastes a lot better than the aioli in my opinion. Definitely add some sweet potato chips on the side - they’re so good, even better than regular chips!
We also got the grilled seafood & salad (we chose coleslaw) and whilst it had good flavour, I think I prefer the fried food here. Would give the coleslaw a miss!

Most sets come with fries or rice and salad but I asked to swap the fries or rice with more salad, which the waitress happily obliged. Perfect service đź‘Ť
Food is delicious. When delivered the fish and chips were cold and soggy. Hunky Dory please put the food in an aluminium foil before the cardboard box atleast in winter.
Really friendly and welcoming service from the staff here when dining in. We had a fried and grilled pack and both were well presented and tasted fresh and not too greasy.

Fish and chips are very good (I tried grilled fish). Chips are hot and crispy. Good portion of coleslaw as wel. Worth a try.
Best fish and chips around. Plenty of choices available. Food came out hot and fresh. Not oily at all. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great place to get lunch with the kids! Great value for money.
