D Big Mama reminds me of my last trip to KL. Good efficient service and un pretentious premises. Try the nasi lemak.
Oh D'Big Mama, your nasi lemak was damn delicious, curry chicken cooked perfectly, the sambal was fresh and very tasty, dry wonton noodles were fresh and chewy, the chilli vinegar went well on top.
Broth soup was clean and the wontons +++
Overall great price, portion size and taste.
Come here to eat or take home your favourite noodles or fresh soy milk!
Located in a maze of restaurants and small speciality stores, D'Big Mama stands out as one of the best. I took a hesitant friend who had just arrived from Malaysia to this store as I was craving Malaysian food. The interior of the store isn't lavishly decored nor provides a comfortable and relaxing setting, the focus here is the food. My friend ordered the satay noodles and to his surprise and delight, commented on the authenticity and the taste - I agreed.Β
I have been meaning to come back and sample more dishes, and I encourage you to do so.
I tried the nasi lemak with fried chicken for lunch a few days ago. Good portions of coconut rice and chicken pieces. I only wished that they gave more of the sambal chilli. Not the nasi lemak chilli that I am used to but it was okay. I don't understand why they gave only half a boiled egg. This is something that I have never understood about Asian restaurants here in Perth. Apart from this gripe, the rice was great as it had the right taste for a nasi lemak dish, the fried chicken pieces were crunchy. The ikan bilis and peanuts were okay though they should have been given a stir fry to create that bit of oiliness. Given that it is priced at nearly $12, I felt this was a tad expensive for what was offered. I could see that most of the other dishes were not priced competitively as compared to some of the other better Asian restaurants elsewhere. I gave this a 4 star as I liked my lunch and it was satisfying at the very least. I shall have to try a few more of their noodle dishes as these were commonly ordered by the lunch crowd.
Laksa π is the best hereβ€β€β€ I love coming back for more πππ. Kway Teow is also good here. I highly recommend this placeπππππ. Friendly Fast Service.
Pleasant staff. Wan Tan Mee is great. This shop is one of the few places I would buy Wan Tan Mee outside of Malaysia. Always a busy shop. Mr Wong is always outside to greet customers.
The first thing we noticed when we walked past D' Big Mama was the crowd. Crowds normally indicated good food so we waited for our chicken rice π₯π in excitement.
Although the chicken was tender and juicy, the star of that plate was the soy sauce π. It was just the perfect balance between sweet & salty, which was super rare to come across. One thing I did notice though was that even though we ordered leg, the pieces didn't look like they all belonged to the same leg π€. They were in different shapes and sizes and mostly likely left-over pieces from previous orders. The rice had a strong buttery taste, which wasn't entirely bad but it was a bit distracting. Having said that it had a soft and bountiful texture with good chicken flavour. Even the soup was full of chicken goodness!
What a pleasant surprise! Oddly-chopped chicken pieces aside, their tenderness and juiciness won us over. 10/10 will chicken rice again.
excellent food and service. Staff are so professional and pleasant. very well run shop. noodles are amazing, so too is nasi lemak. well worth a visit.
I had the char kwetiau and rice with chicken curry. Both dishes were tasty. But portion size is quite small for the kwetiau, I was definitely not full afterwards.
Really, really good food here. We ordered kuay teow, dumpling soup, stay chicken on rice and roast chicken noodles. Busy on a Thursday night but meals were delivered quickly, hot and delicious. Friendly service. Want to return to taste more of the menu!
