Popped in for a late Saturday night dinner, and still able to order a meal at 9:30 (so did another couple who arrived about 10min later). Not being super hungry my wife & I ordered some chicken tikka sliders, garlic naan, garlic rotti, riata and chicken biryani. It was strange they asked “are we sure we don’t want a curry” as they weren’t convinced we knew what we were ordering- biryani was nothing new to me.
Anyway old didn’t take too long starting with the tasty sliders, then the rest of our order. One of the better biryani’s I have had incl. those I have eaten in very Indian populated places in the Middle East.
The total bill was very reasonable, and coupled with the good food & atmosphere we will certainly be back!
Fabulous Food, great small restaurant lovely staff and great service - we particularly enjoyed the home made samosas, tandoori lamb cutlets were to die for and also the tandoori chicken salad.
Unfortunately it is not BYO and you need to book as it’s only small and they had to turn away 3 groups of people on a Wednesday night!
We were looking for a restaurant open in Mornington and stumbled across chutney bar. Out of all the places we've been to this was our favourite one. The service was fantastic and we had our food out quickly. I highly recommend the Indian Hashbrown with tamarind sauce. The hashbrown was deep fried in cumin seeds and worked beautiful with the sauce. The seekh kebabs were flavoursome and paired with a nice mint dip. The chicken tikka was yummy and spicy but bearable enough for a non South Asian to eat. However the chicken could have been a little more fresh. Lastly the gunpowder chips had a nice kick of curry powder. Yum!
Really enjoyed the food and service at this new restaurant. The cauliflower salad was a hit with my wife and daughter and I enjoyed the lamb vindaloo with naan bread. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is pleasant. Looking forward to going back.
LOVE THIS PLACE! Best cocktails, incredible food, lovely staff and a beautiful interior. Nothing I could even think to improve. Can’t wait to come back!
Fantastic Indian food in Mornington with some vegan options available. Chutney Bar is smart - it has traditional Indian dishes but also an Indian inspired brunch menu so there’s something for everyone.

The vegan coconut madras was great! Loved the coconut rice as well, would have loved if garlic naan was on the menu instead of just plain naan.
Food and service were excellent. Good variety with the share plates, and also a cheaper option with the curry meals. Tandoor Lamb cutlets were very good and the Butter sauce was the best I've tasted.
Had the beef vindaloo and the wife had the butter chicken. Our meals were delish very very tasty. I ordered hot and whilst it was no means hot by my standard it was so flavoursome it didn't matter. We had a lamb skewer for entree that was also really nice. Service was great, we didn't have to wait long at all to get served or have our starters and then we were asked if we were ready for our mains without forcing us through meals. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, we will be back no doubt about it.
Have been here half a dozen times and its always been great. Don't listen to the whingers here. Very good food and demonstrated by the popularity of the place with the locals.
