Friendly staff, clean and spacious interior that has recently been renovated but the food is expensive. Hard to pay $14 or so for the curry and then $4 or so for rice. I ordered takeaway for 3 people and it ended up costing $42 for 3 people EXCLUDING RICE. The rice as a minimum should come with the curry. It's a shame because the flavour is delicious but really the price should be dropped to $8-12 including rice. When you get Chinese takeaway it costs about that much. Perhaps dine in could cost more but takeaway could be cheaper.
Great service, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Professional staff who are competent. Food waiting time was prompt and very reasonable. Butter chicken was delicious. Pleasantly sweet with an authentic taste; the chicken itself was very tender. Cheese naan was also very good. Served very hot. Very clean restaurant which has been well maintained. Would recommend. I am definitely going to revisit. Well done.
My husband and I have just had what he describes as, 'the best meal in his life!' It was a lunch with friends at Tara. There were seven of us, so we were able to sample a goodly array of dishes and each one was superb. The service was friendly, helpful and informative, the prices reasonable and the food - absolutely delicious. I suspect that we all ate much more than is usual for lunch and we'll all be having a very light dinner tonight. Two of our friends have returned from travels in India only days ago and said the food at Tara is better than anything they ate in India.
If I could give this place a higher rating I would! This is our go to place for Indian, have only ever had Indian better than it once, and that was in a place in the city (Nirankar) that costs at least twice as much! The butter chicken, Bombay potatoes, lamb Rogan josh and beef vindaloo are all fantastic.
Tara's Cafe does the best butter chicken in Murrumbeena. We have had dinner there several times and often get take away and always enjoy the meals. Butter chicken is my favourite but all the dishes are delicious and never disappoint. Very good value for money and friendly service.
We love Tara's! The staff are very friendly, the food is great and the prices are reasonable, what more do you want?
They also do a good job of managing spiciness, they'll make any of the dishes as spicy as you like all you have to do is ask.
Highly recommend if you're looking for a decent Indian meal in this area.
One of the best butter chickens you'll find. Very affordable and friendly. The tandoori grill is also very good. Everything is fresh. Highly recommended

Beautiful. I am a frequent customer of Tara's and anything I have tried has been amazing. My favourite is chicken Korma. I ordered on eatnow at 9.15 not knowing that they close at 9.30 but they took my order anyway and left the door open for my arrival. Top notch food and staff
Best Indian restaurant in Melbourne! I was introduced to this place 7 years ago and still go there despite having moved house... I tried to find an Indian place in my area, but none of them compared! Well worth the drive, the butter chicken is especially good!
