A most wonderful place to experience the historical past of Margaret Ollie. A Regional Art Gallery built with great passion and expertise. On land where Doug Anthony grew up and watched the River and the Mountains. A mystical place with a majestic present that for tens of millennia has been home to Australia's First Nations Peoples. The Gallery has an exquisitely good restaurant and facilities. Certainly a bucket list item of places to explore and hold in your memory.

Well worth the visit, especially for the lovingly reconstruction of Margaret Olley's home/studio. The art installations are well presented and interesting. The cafe/restaurant was very good. Highly recommend.

This is an oasis. A well planned and laid out gallery with a wonderful vista over the Tweed and surrounding countryside. The cafe is great and our food and coffee well worth a decision to drive there and eat first and then visit the gallery. In such a small gallery it’s great to see such a good range of art, local or otherwise. The shop is small and well stocked with cards, ceramics, jewellery and books. All the staff were professional and very helpful. A great visit. Thank you.

I've been wanting to visit 'Margaret Olley's' home, which has been transported to the gallery, for quite a while. I had no idea that this wonderful woman was a hoarder and because of this her life was filled with many gems from flowers and statues to ewers and vases. Of course many of these things that she couldn't bare to part will be remembered forever as they became part of arrangements in her still life paintings.

This has a very warm, friendly and clean environment. John greeted us at the front door as though we were long lost friends. He informed us about the gallery and it’s layout. We had a lovely walk around. It is in a beautiful scenic position on a hill with windows facing Mount Warning. The land was donated to council by the Doug Anthony (MP) family and a couple of other farming families. A very lovely farm indeed. Most of the Art on display are very recent so don’t except Monet or Renoir but the Margate Olly gallery was worth the visit. Lots of memorabilia from the “good old days”. Reminded me of my grandparents place. The lady at the M section of the gallery was on her first day but was able to answer our questions through a little booklet she had. I didn’t try out the cafe, but again had great views of mount warning. The only issue that I had was the car 🚘 parking. We arrived at the top of the gallery and saw some car parking spaces and assumed it was for staff. We continued down to the bottom 🚗 car park and parked in the disabled section as we have a disabled sticker ( near the staircase). When we got out of the car we did not see any signs for the lift nor did we know their actually was a lift. So we had to climb up a rather steep staircase. So lift signs would be good or move the disable parking up to the top section/front of building before you go to the bottom car park. Otherwise a good art gallery.
