The Bored Monkey

The Bored Monkey's fascade is somewhat overpowering to the fact that at it's core, it's a rather small dining room with a great ambience and welcoming atmosphere. Once you get through the double set of doors, the senses are assaulted from the aromatic fumes from the kitchen, and the warmth of the Front of House staff led by Josh is instantaneous. Once the food roll's out, it's phenomenal, for a small local restaurant, I've never had a bad meal although do wish there was slightly more grilled and un-fried options on the tapas menu. Personal Favourites would have to include the Surf and Turf, Ribs and all seafood options. I would not hesitate to recommend The Bored Monkey to friends.

Reminiscing to the epic feast we had at The Bored Monkey, from fresh sydney rock oysters, to crispy pork belly, smoked pork ribs, surf and turf, Thai beef salad and chicken supreme! The bored monkey has now opened the cheeky monkey directly upstairs for those laid backs days where you just want to relax in the sun and enjoy a cocktail!
This is by far one of our favourite restaurants, the food here is absolutely amazing and there is nothing to fault, everything that we have tried has been superb and now they even have amazing cocktail that are so pretty! We are so pleased with the presentation of the dishes and drinks!

The food here was really tasty and well presented.
The service was also really good.
Portion sizes were just right - not too much and not too little.
I think it's good as you get to try more dishes like they are tapas.
It has two levels which is great and is super close to the water.
Would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

Impressive!!
We went for dinner here along with a group of friends. I had not heard of this place and yet live in Collaroy. What a complete surprise. There was eight of us and when we arrived the restaurant was buzzing. We decided to share some of their starters and tapas dishes and they were excellent. We had the halloumi, asparamaki and poppers, mouth-watering. We all ordered a main each along with some wine and beers. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The mains were just as good, and my ribs were some of the best I’ve tasted. The meat literally fell from the bone. What a great restaurant. Could not fault it and prices are reasonable. Strongly recommend.

Have been here many times and really love the place. The one thing that stands out is the consistent high quality of food they dish up. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and every time I have walked away with a satisfied belly. It also has beer on tap (another favourite), live music in the evenings and they are one restaurant which is not afraid to take large bookings. Great specials as well every week and menu is large and varied. Well worth a try, you won't be disappointed.

The Bored Monkey is a large restaurant located over two floors on Pittwater road in Narrabeen. The restaurant downstairs is spacious and suits either a dining pair, larger groups and even a party. If you’re looking to have a function, there’s also a function venue upstairs. What a great place for a function, particularly when there is no minimum spend. The Bored Monkey operates for breakfast on a Sunday, lunch from Friday-Sunday and dinner Tuesday-Sunday. They are soon to open a cocktail lounge upstairs with tapas to suit the early cocktail hour crowd. The decor is casual and the restaurant feels comfortable, with a varied crowd of differing ages. Staff are warm and friendly and service was extremely efficient. We would describe the menu as very approachable. All diners can find something that meets their taste. Whether it be a burger, steak, nachos, salad, pasta and meats, or something from their amazing range of seafood options, you will leave satisfied. There’s some dishes that would suit those with dietary requirements and also a kids menu. Kids under 12 eat free! There’s a lunch menu for $29.95 or $25 for seniors. This is very good value for two courses (main and dessert) with a glass of beer, house wine or soft drink. We really enjoyed the dinner menu, and feel that the food here is high quality. It would be categorised as modern Australian, featuring selections from the sea, grill and garden. On our visit, we had a few from each category. For entrees, we began with a few Sydney Rock oysters, sampling a few flavours, the natural Kilpatrick, lime, soy, ginger and eschallots. The oysters were so nice and creamy and it is hard to pick a favourite. These were followed by the sake scallops, which were cooked perfectly – three Victoria Bay scallops sitting in their shell, cooked with garlic, negara sauce, soy sauce and shallots, the were full of flavour and we just wanted to keep going back in for that sauce. We also shared the Skull island prawns, grilled and served in their butterflied half shell, they were flavoured with a mild kick of chilli oil, basil, flakes of salt and freshed herbs. Other entrée / tapas style dishes for you to select from include arancini, tequila poppers, pork belly, zucchini flowers and haloumi, to name a few. For our mains, we decided to share the surf & turf which we chose Moreton bay bug as the seafood addition. A lovely piece of seafood beautifully cooked and flavoured, accompanying the A variety of wine from the right regions and good range of beer on offer including craft beer on tap, with one of our favorites stone and wood pacific ale. There are number of inviting cocktails with many classics listed and a couple of interesting twists including the lychee martini and the salted caramel espresso martini. We had a refreshing mojito to accompany our seafood selection.

Comfy seating & for me that's a plus. The food is excellent and even with smaller menu plenty to choose from. The desserts are even better as you see below are amazing. They had run out of Key lime Broulee but had a sticky date alternative for the rest of my friends which they all enjoyed. I went for the chocolate mousse instead. No complaints at all. COVID Safe Venue and following all the correct requirements. I would definitely go back. Only open Thursday,Friday & Saturday at the moment make sure your book.

Vibe is a bit of a downer and we were not sure how good the food would be when we stepped in, as the first didn't have the feel of a good restaurant. Turns out the food is really good and the service is excellent, so don't be fooled by the looks of the place and give it a try
