Chunky mushroom and gravy vegan pie. Rivals cruelty free shop nepalese lamb pie, but I think the mushroom wins. 5*. I'd give it more * if I could. I will be back...
Vegan mushroom pie was really nice with a good crust and a tasty gravy, although a tad cold in the middle. Service was friendly enough, pies are on the expensive end for what it was though.
Today I ordered two pies, absolutely yum!
Newtown pies haven't changed in quality, quantity or service. I was greeted with a smile and the lady that served me couldn't be more accommodating. The pies (in my opinion) are the best I have eaten anywhere, always fresh, crispy pastry and lots of tasty filling. My table was clean and so were the others, well organised and I feel good value for money.
I have been to other places in Newtown but I have found the pies to be average (either soggy pastry, hardly any filling or it is t so peppery/salty, hard to taste the true flavour.
The pies I had today were the same as years ago despite a change of ownership.

Great pies! 2nd time back, very old school taste and fresh, sausage roll filling seemed very mushy dunno if cooked enough or if the filling wasnt meat maybe not sure, but great pies!
This pie shop has gone through several names over 20-odd years but seems to have kept the same menu throughout. The tandoori chicken pie was just as tasty as 20 years ago, with standard thick pastry (i.e., not delicate and fancy like some new places) but nicely crispy and maybe enough to justify $7. There’s an eating area in the shop but they never seem to clean it.

A nice cosy store to get some hot pies from!! I stop by here everytime i’m in newtown, the mushroom pie honestly cant beat any other vegan pie i’ve had before.
I used to find service a little friendlier than it is at the moment.
They did increase their pies though for a dollar or so I think, which is understandable but currently finding it a little overpriced. Still great pies!!
The vegetable (broccoli i think) curry pies are a great and filling option too, along with their vegan pasties.
Have a little visit for the mushroom pie whenever you’re in newtown :)

Love that there are vegan options! Had the vegan Thai, Broccoli and Potato pie! Honestly, I was expecting a lot and my expectations weren't reached. It was a delicious pie with a unique flavour but not my favourite. The pie looked small for $6.00 but it was actually quite filling.
May be back to try the other vegan options! Lovely service though :)

This is my favorite place ever staff are so nice and the food is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tryed alot of pie places but this is by far the best !!!

Its 3am, you've just reached your Inner-West homestead, and you think "I'm hungry, but no where is open". Shows what you know mate, Newtown Pies is open. You just missed out big time. Have you been under a rock? Word of opening hours like these spreads like finger fever at schoolies. Do yourself a favour.
Beautifully fresh pies made on the premises. Very helpful and friendly staff.
