I give you 5/5 for your beautiful cruelty free food anyway - but tonight I discovered that Uber Eats have changed their delivery range & I couldn't order online, rang to check & as a one off you have offered to still deliver just this time so you don't lose a customer! Very kind gesture so really I'd rate you 6/5 if I could :)
One of my fave places to eat in Sydney there mock fish is the best !
Absolutely perfect every time. This place definitely deserves more exposure, I'm so happy I stumbled across it. 100% recommend.
Best Vietnamese vegan food in all of Sydney. Chicken nuggets curry is out of this world , so is the spicy noodle soup with crispy duck.
Justin and his family are amazing hosts
One of the best Vegan outlets on the planet, let alone being Vietnamese and being located in Newtown! Thankyou for the wonderful flavours, variety and great customer service, the team there are thoughtful & super efficient! I like "Dong" I think he was the owner, what a dude! So reasonably priced, in fact too cheap for the quality food!
Great food, great service! My friend and I are trying every dish on the menu and haven’t been disappointed yet!
From the moment we walked through the door we could tell we were in for a treat. Table was ready, service was excellent and the food was spectacular!!! Thank you so much 😍
Will be back ASAP
Delicious food that never disappoints. Very friendly staff and wonderful service
The food was absolutely amazing and delicious and matched well with the service provided. The restaurant was neat and had a great atmosphere.
Best Viet food in town highly recommend for everyone
Top notch service and great selection of affordable vegan meals - Loved the pho!
The food is flavoursome, so much variety, and simply delicious! The service is wonderful, staff are attentive and considerate, we feel welcomed and are always greeted with a smile. So we keep going back!
Excellent food, friendly staff and very quick home delivery!
I am a huge fan of this restaurant (I have tried three noodles soups and they have all been really good).
I came here with some friends on Friday night and the food was delicious! will definitely have to come back!
The best food in Sydney...highly recommended this
Very very good! Amazing spongey tofu-I tried the lemongrass stir-fry with 'chicken' ,and a tofu, eggplant and potato thing that was delicious!!
Went on a Saturday so it was mad packed so I suggest booking a table prior, you can always do it through Zomato! ☺️ The food was absolutely phenomenal, loved the crispy yellow noodle stir fry!
Okay. I think Vina’s has taken the no. 1 spot for my fav vegan restaurant in Sydney! My favourite is the combination fried rice. Its DELICIOUS. the vegan nuggets and crispy wantons are UNREAL. would have vinas over golden lotus any day
Came by two nights ago with two other friends. None of us are usually vegetarian/vegan but we all enjoyed the meal. The imitation duck pancakes were on point, there was crispness, and the flavour tasted like the real deal. The curry samosas were good although quite small. The seaweed fried rice was so fragrant and delicious, and the Vietnamese pancake was really yummy. Overall, a delicious, filling and pretty cheap meal that did not leave us craving meat. And the service was excellent, I think it was the owner who came out and had a chat to us, and he was very friendly, attentive and helpful.
Really nice and fresh food. Peking not duck roles were great! The samosas are quite smaller than average (very cute none the less) but service was quick.
Service was friendly and kind, although a bit disjointed at times. The restaurant wasn’t packed and also had outdoor seating, so a good option seeing most places on king street were packed.
Will definitely return soon to try some more options!
Curry is always a bit of a low hanging fruit when it comes to vegan food, as the coconut milk alone is enough to carry the dish. But the Red Curry with Vegan Chicken ($15.8) actually punched above its weight. Piled dangerously tall, the sauce was rich, complex, and full of flavour. It covered every crisp morsel of vegetable, and soaked especially indulgently into the fluffy chunks of potato at the bottom. Paired with a bowl of Jasmine Rice ($2.8), this is comfort food you can feel good about.
Newtown is an absolute Foodie dream with it's wonderful cafe's, little diners, quirky outlets and overall good quality eats. It's here you will find one of the largest selections of Vegan/Vegetarian restaurants in Sydney. It was a celebration of a milestone, and wanting to try vegan Vietnamese food that brought us to Vina Vegan.
The red curry is probably my new favourite dish ever! Reasonably priced and great value. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Appreciated that we could split the bill.
Pho and Banh Xeo were incredible also really enjoyed the flat rice noodles. I’m happy to see the food is still great after the new renovation, I was worried it wouldn’t be. Also, even though the menu is a bit smaller there are still a ton of options!!
The food was delicious and the people amazing. We tried the set-menu which give us a choice of everything and very good value. Highly recommend.
We have been here a few times now and it’s always consistent and delicious.
Such a great fully vegan/plant based restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and patient with us. Great customer service. Food came out promptly. We ordered almost all of the entrees to share. We also ordered the combination fried nice and the mushroom wok tossed chicken I recommend the BBQ buns.
They are BYO but charge $3/person.
Oooh such deliciousness! You must try the vegan pho - it is 👌👍👏
Also enjoyed the pancake with a bunch of veggies and delicious sauce.
Service was also super nice and pleasant.
Being vegetarian, it’s always a treat to have many menu options, and Vina’s menu is vast! If you’re not into mock meat there are still a lot of options for you, and if you are into mock meat it’s a world of flavour!
My partner and I adore Vina for a cheap, no frills eat, and we end up here a lot. Our favourite entree is the BBQ buns and lightly fried tofu, the soups are amazing, and I’m ALL about the combination fried rice.
Vina is always at the top of my list of recommendations for vegan/vego friends, and they all absolutely love it too.
First time at Vina Vegan Restaurant and I was not disappointed, as I am a vegetarian I usually only get 3 or 4 options on a menu but here everything is vegan!
Delicious flavours, fresh ingredients + fast service.
Vina has a relaxed atmosphere - somewhere you can let you hair down and bring a bottle of wine (BYOW 🍷).
Highly recommend their speciality pancake, recommended by staff.
We tried:-
-Fresh Rice Paper Rolls (GF)
-Savoury Pancake (GF)
-Fried Rice with Seaweed
This is for all customers out there who've been a fan of Vina's since the very beginning. I know, I've been a long-term customer of Vina's for years. I know they had a change in ownership about 2 years ago. I wanted to let you guys know that I'VE FOUND THEM THE OTHER DAY. They've relocated to "Tofu House" in Canley Heights. They're still in good health and still are making THE BEST vegan food. Gosh, you don't understand how happy I was to stumble upon them again. That's all. Have a nice day everyone :)
This is the restaurant I’ve probably been to around 50 times! After their revamp and new menu.. I only want to come back more!! The staff are friendly, service is quite and everything is very well priced and portioned! The atmosphere is great and honestly not too crazy.
Honestly all the food menu items are AMAZING (especially the noodle soups and fried rice!!); stir-fries are average for me. My favourites have got to be the Curry Noodle Soup, Duck Noodle Soup, Claypot/Seaweed/Beetroot Fried Rice.. and counting haha Oh and the CocoMint Crushie is AMAZING.
Everything is really well flavoured and not over flavoured or over oily etc. it’s perfect 👌
Just go and try for yourself!! Worth the short walk down from Golden Lotus!! 🤫😁 Now they just have to introduce a rewards system for going to their restaurant so many times haha 🤫

We decided to duck into Vina, having crossed by this restaurant on our way to Lentils multiple times. When we entered, we were one of the first diners. My wife was craving some steamed curry dumplings as the entree, so we ordered that. For the mains dish, I stuck to my tried, tested and favourite Vietnamese dish, the Vermicelli noodles. My wife ordered a Fried Rice. Additionally, I decided to order a Vietnamese Lime Soda. All dishes were very enjoyable. I must admit I'm not a big fan of the mock meats, however my wife completely loved it. The curry dumplings was also extremely tasty. The service was great and I loved the suggestions made by the staff too. All in all, a great place to eat!!!
Great food, great service and very reasonable prices. Their mock meats taste great (especially the soy nuggets) and the steamed curry buns are delicious. They're very friendly and the orange slices at the end was a very nice touch.
Cheap, delicious vegan vietnamese. We particularly enjoyed all the entrees (so much fried goodness!) and for all of us it was our first time trying "vegan meat", which was an experience! Some of the sauces were a little odd tasting, but it was all fresh and satisfying.
Been there several times, clean, generous serves, fresh, tasty and cheap. The fake chicken and fish taste almost as good as the real thing, highly recommended!!
This is my first time here, even though I've walked past it hundreds of times. Generous servings, fresh food, tasty and delicious. Quick and friendly service and cheap!! Will definitely be back here for more!!
Amazing and affordable vegetarian Vietnamese. The vermicelli bun was probably one of the best vermicelli I have had in Sydney, meat or no meat. The pho was great and so was the spicy pho. This place has done a very good job at replicating Vietnamese dishes using imitation meat. I prefer Vina over many of the other Vietnamese restaurants in Sydney.
lean and fresh ingredients for the rice rolls we had ordered. They did a good job as what we expected for rice rolls shall be clean and fresh. We like the tofu options and the way they served the rice paper. It is good in value for its price.
If you're looking for delicious vegetarian food, then this Vietnamese family run restaurant is the place to go to! The portions were large, the staff are so so lovely, they give you a great amount of everything in the dish, the food isn't oily, and the food was so yummy and such good value!
We had the bamboo rice noodle soup with the mock chicken (N5), and the vermicelli with spring rolls with mock chicken nuggets (M6). Each dish was only $12. The N5 broth was fantastic- so homely and delicious. Both dishes were great. We were savouring literally EVERY mouthful. It tasted even better than it looks.
I am in love with this place and will definitely come back!!
Nice Vietnamese restaurant for vegans. With the whole menu being vegan it is quite impressive. The Crispy Mock Fish Nuggets were filling and delicious and the Vermicelli w/ Spring Rolls and Mock Chicken Nuggets was also quite delicious despite having no central sauce or soup. However the Traditional Vina Pho Bo was an absolute miss for me. When it was placed on the table the off smell was apparent to me. The soup had a weird pineapple taste to it with coriander? Was not able to eat it at all but luckily my partner was able to eat it. If you want a traditional beef pho taste do not order the Traditional Vina Pho Bo.
If you like vegetarian food, Vina is freaking fantastic. Don't worry about mediocre reviews, this is great, tasty, wholesome, ethical food, made by nice people who you should support.
Anyone who whinges about Vina has their priorities in the wrong place.
If you want something awesome and fresh but still with a fix of deep fried spring rolls, get the M6.
I'd personally recommend that one doesn't dine here thinking that this place will serve vegetarian versions of meat or fish, but rather as a place that serves tasty and varied Vietnamese vegetarian fare. None of us tried any on the night, but you can also
Wonderful place much improved over the years! Friendly staff. Lots veges, sounds odd but other places focus too much on faux meats. We much prefer Vina to Golden Lotus! Try lemon chicken, beef pho, sweet sour pork. All can be gluten free!
Tasty, but where is the salad?. We enjoyed the DIY rice rolls with mock fish and the coleslaw salad with mock chicken strips. What we missed was the large pile of salad (bean sprouts, mint, herbs) that traditionally accompanies the rolls; the coleslaw was also pretty small by Melbourne standards. Overall good food but could be better!
Great little restaurant. Simple but Clean set up with tasty fresh food. Great service, will be back.
It was okay.. Went with a group of 4 last night. We made the reservation quite early and it was nice to be served rapidly. Waiter was knowledgeable and nice.
Being vegetarian myself it felt great to be able to explore mock meat integrated in a multitude of asian dishes.
One negative aspect was around the fact that everything revolves around dishes with mock meat. I understand that it is the gimmick of that restaurant but in my mind i was hoping to discover some interesting Vietnamese dishes with vegetables only. What the restaurant offers is the same kind of dishes you would have in any local asian take away BUT with mock meat. No imagination when it comes to experimenting with vegetarian food unlike places like Yulli's in Surry Hills.
Definitely a place to take meat eaters to show them what can be done with mock meat but that's it.
I will go back there but not in a hurry...to many other places to check out first.
No faults by Vina. I went here last night with a friend of mine not expecting much however i was pleasantly surprised. Very calm and quiet atmosphere as you enter the restaurant with friendly waitstaff eager to help.
The menu is all interesting and very reasonably priced. We tried the mock chicken nuggets and they were delicious! . We took our time and were not feeling we had to leave quickly.
Definitely will be back !
Best vegetarian spot in Newtown, yo!
Vina. Love this place, have a take away almost every week.
Interesting menu with Mock this and Mock that. Food was quite varied and any added chilli was quite mild. Decor was two star and food was not very tasty but unadulterated and interesting textures. Waiters were nice but service was slow. Banana fritter dessert with soy Icecream was very nice.
Excellent vego food! Try a bunch of the entrees... They can fill u up if ur low on cash. The pancake is THE BEST. Rice paper rolls with black fungus - awesome. Ambience is not sophisticated but it's a family run business with warm friendly service.
Excellent. We are locals and we go there regularly. Although we are not vegans and the service here is average (not rude but I believe this is the Vietnamese way!) the food is super dooper good and we highly recommend here. You may need to book on weekends.
My new favourite in Newtown - everything is delicious, the staff are friendly & kind, the prices are very reasonable for such high quality. Subtle, varied and intensely satisfying food, whether you're a vegetarian or an omnivore.
Vina is one of my favorite places in newtown that I feel comfortable bringing both fellow vegetarians and carnivores. My friends and I have never been disappointed. I am not a big fan of mock meats but Vina uses them to great effect. I have used some of their ideas in my own cooking! The food is always fresh, and the family feel service is always a shelter. Highly recommended. Make a reservation for a big group, because this quiet little restaurant is getting busier by the week- for good reason!
Mock-meat Vietnamese. I've been here a few times and the food was really flavoursome. They do Vietnamese mock-meat and vego food. The servings are a bit small for the price ($15 or so per dish) so it's not brilliant value, but I really enjoyed the food.
I'm a mock meat addict, and this place distinguishes itself by being Vietnamese rather than Chinese or Thai. Really great, unusual flavours - particularly impressive was the mock chicken curry. So delicious! Will be back, for sure.
Vegetarian addiction. Visited Vina again this evening (4th visit). i am embarrassingly obsessed/addicted to this joint. everything was perfect from the jasmine+pandan tea, to mock beef noodle soup and the heavenly fried banana dessert.
Great food & service. My partner is a die-hard meat-eater, but accomodates my vegetarianism by coming to all-veg restaurants occasionally. He LOVES the food at Vina, and so do I - especially the 'chicken' rice paper roll platter for two. Almost everything on the menu is vegan, and truly delicious.
The atmosphere is classic 'neighbourhood asian' - clean, cheap & cheerful. The staff are incredibly friendly, and have a family feel. I imagine this would be a good place to veg families to come with kids - it's very relaxed, and the food is cheap & tasty.
Substantial vegetarian fare. There's quite a bit of variety and flavours served at Vina. It's best to go with a small group as the portions are satisfying. Try everything on the menu, as long as there aren't any coeliacs in your group. Regular carnivores will be surprised.
Delicious. Tasty home-style food, served in a friendly, family-run environment. Highly recommended!
A Vegetarian's Heaven. An oasis in Newtown: quiet, clean, pleasant and the food is delicious. Both meet-style-veggie dishes and more vegetarian looking ones.
The service is not professional, more like attentive home hospitality. You get a complimentary cup of tea while waiting for a take-away.
Hope to see this place take off and become a permanent institution in Newtown.
