I was in Newtown for an lunch appointment so I thought I would wander up to 571 King Street Newtown to see the premises that I spent my childhood in. I was pleasantly surprised to find a food outlet as my parents had an eat in and takeaway café there. I purchased some products and both my wife and I enjoyed the food immensely. Great food great reception by Stuart I wholly recommend it and I will be back for more.
Amazing customer service and amazing food, I will definitely be back! With me being indecisive about what I should get, I was given an exact description of what each item would do to my taste buds, and with that i walked out with three things, and each description was 100% correct. Definately recommend!
Good ingredients in the chicken and leek pie and the touch of mustard worked well. The top of the pie was perfectly flaky but the bottom was going soggy - I’m not sure if it was just due to that or also due to insufficient filling that the pie sort of shrivelled up a bit as I ate.

Solid 3.75/5. We were in the area n happened to walk past lilly’s. Wait a minute, isnt this the lilly’s?! How could we pass up the chance even though we were already stuffed w brekky.. takeaways solved our quandary, too easy. Snapper pie chicken pie beef pie all had 2 things in common. No scrooge in the fillings n beaut beaut flaky sweet smelling pastry w that lingering buttery aftertaste w each bite. The sour cherry pie didnt fare so well inasmuch as my personal taste is concerned. Too sour for me. Lovely to see bossman positively beaming when serving customers.
I'm a big fan of Miss Lilly's Kitchen ever since discovering them at a Finder's Keepers event. Stuart the owner is a lovely man who takes pride in his work. His newish cafe is closer to the St Peters end, with a simple layout with a communal table. My favourites are the sour cherry pie, lemon meringue pie, the beef pie and the carrot cake. But really, you can't go wrong with the goods here.
Wow. Great pies, the pastry is so buttery. Beef and mushroom was fantastic, pork and fennel snag roll really needed sauce (or chutney) but my fault I didn’t add it. Will be back to try more.
First time here, I had the chunky beef and mushroom pie, it was phenomenal 🤤 The pie was flaky. Would highly recommend it ❤️
I am working my way through the pie menu and everything was fantastic. The pastry and fillings are excellent, although the beef & jalepeno was barely spicy. My favourites have been the vegan. Far from the usual tired vegetable curry pie, where flavour is removed to make it vegetarian, they've been able to pack in more flavour than the meat pies!
Tops!! Their gluten-free chocolate cake is awesome! I bought one for a few different birthdays - consistently excellent. Great friendly & helpful service from staff members too.
The pastries are unbelievable. The pies.. oh the pies. so flakey and fresh. you can tell its all handmade with thought. my first time trying a fish pie and i looooved it.
if you can make it on the weekend, ask for the custard tart. 100% the best custard youve ever had.
one of the best eats ive had in newtown, hands down.
Best pies in Sydney - better than the standard bakery pies I grew up eating in NZ. Pastry and filling both amazing. Sweets are good too.
I had to check this place out after the Newtown locals FB group raved about this place ( with bold claims such as it’s better than BSB & pie tin!). I love all my locals, so I’d say Miss Lillys offer a distinctive, uniquely delicious crumbly base (spelt flour, he said )! It’s a must visit — be a local hero 🦸♀️!!
The team’s friendly and kind; I can’t wait to try other pie flavours (+ the carrot and cheesecake)
Best bakery store in Newtown! Highly recommend chick & leek pie. Friendly staffs and lovely atmosphere
