Home to Malaysian cuisine on Keilor Road, they do have good lunch specials as is perfect if you need a quick lunch. We’ve tried their laksa and nasi lemak and really liked it. The staff is friendly and attentive and I usually get take aways during lunch time. They do have a good range on their menu for dinner as well.
Four of us ate here this evening. Walking in, it was welcoming, lovely and warm- however there was a bit of an unusual smell. I had taro milk tea, tom yum soup and chicken roti roll. I thought that the drink could have been bigger for the price. The tom yum was full of flavour and i would like to try a laksa next time. The chicken roti was ok. My companions had green tea, Vietnamese ice coffee, beer, roti, vegie laksa, chicken with vegies and salt n pepper squid. All said theirs were excellent.
Very happy that we stopped and had a meal at Lazat Malay Restaurant as the food was just delicious. Having a craving (oddly) for sweet and sour pork and some fried rice, we looked through the menu and made an order of sweet and sour pork $18.8, salted fish and chicken fried rice $13.8 which was just deliciously perfect and we could've just had that on it's own. Also a serving of stir fried belechan string beans $16.8 went down a treat. Oh and for entree, a staple chicken and corn soup $6.0. To wash it down and also to wake up a little, a vietnamese ice coffee. Oddly this was a Malaysian restaurant so we guess they had a mixture of asian dishes and drinks but hey, we weren't complaining. Was the food laced with MSG, yeah probably but we expected it to be and thankful it wasn't to much.
We feel that the decor and promotion of the restaurant isn't doing the food justice, if anything it's doing it a dis-service as the food is so delicious. A revamp of the internal decor with some traditional bespoke furniture, lighting and decorations along with getting rid of that tacky led sign out front and replaced with a more flattering and classy sign would do wonders. In saying that, for a Monday afternoon it wasn't quiet and in fact, it was quite busy. The one waitress who seemed to be doing it all (we think it's the owner as the husband/chef was in the kitchen) was managing (just) with a pretty busy floor. Well done to her. We'll be back again and/or will definitely order takeaway. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find.
Great service food was perfect delicious very fast served... would definitely recommend this delicious this restaurant 😋😋I try most of the dim sum and laksa was exactly the same taste in Malaysia... didn't have to wait long for the food... friendly staff and very comfortable sitting here having my food... parking was easy along the street..
Cheap, friendly Malaysian fare & don't let the dubious neon sign out the front scare you off , its lovely & clean inside! This is my go to in Niddrie for Hainanese Chicken rice , they have nailed it in terms of taste & price. Chicken is tender & silky with a rich chicken rice & bitey chilli sauce. Very generous servings & friendly efficient service. Loved the various Malaysian milk teas on offer. Will definitely visit again.
