Table for 2 and Maybe you - Change Through Movement is the slogan painted across the walls and roof of Malcolm Butcher's aptly-named Flux Restaurant Lounge on Gympie Terrace at Noosaville.
There is certainly no standing still for Roberts who proudly marked 5 years and 83 days in charge on the specials board on the night we visited recently.
With the menu updated every 60 days, it was version 32 we got to choose from.
Ironically we started with the only item on the share plates menu that has survived from opening night - the shaved sweet potato crisps with cumin salt ($7).
They were very moorish and we picked at them while we worked our way through three other excellent and tasty dishes.
They included the fried chicken wings with go chu jang caramel ($14), seared scallops with a burnt butter emulsion , crispy chicken skin and finger limes ($15), and smoked duck breast with baby endive, elk cress, candied hazelnuts and pickled radish ($18.50).
While the dishes were enough for the two of us, the one downside was there were only two scallops on the plate which was a bit light on - even though they were top shelf.
As well as great food, Flux also has a great range of craft beers and a more than decent wine and cocktails list.
It would also be remiss not to mention Malcolm's exceptional service, which included letting us try an Italian white (which we went with) while trying to decide what wine to order.
First class all round - oh, and it's BYO wine during the week.
Great place with fantastic food and a relaxed vibe.
The 16hr slow cooked miso beef and the pork and fennel meatballs are absolute must haves!
Topped our night off with cheese and dessert wine...

Delicious! Friendly service! Suitable for most food allergies and sensitivities! Open in the 3-5 pm window when most other places are closed. Great location and view! I will be back and highly recommend it!
This restaurant already have 9 years and 109 days old must very popular locally, foods are all great, mostly sharing food - my favour is homemade potato fires, funny friendly owner, he said the menu will change every few months, definitely will come back again
We (2 adults, 2 young kids) were walk-ins this evening. We were welcomed by Malcolm and his lovely assistant who both worked the restaurant floor flawlessly all evening whilst supported by three wonderful kitchen staff. Loved the menu - many shared dishes. Highlights were the scallops, prawns, brisket and tortellini. When ordering drinks, they were served almost immediately. Staff on the floor made the time to talk through the menu and addressed any questions. Very friendly and attentive service. We loved the food, atmosphere and thought value for money was on par. Kids shared the calamari and chips. Demolished quickly and a second plate was ordered. Hope others have a similar experience and support this restaurant who apparently have been in business for 9+ years. Credit to all staff.
Once again, outstanding food (and lovely staff) - we’ve been coming every winter for the last 5 years and we never know what we’re gonna get, but every time we are surprised and delighted. This is a hidden gem and a “must eat” location if you’re anywhere on the Sunshine Coast - the food is worth the trip.
Absolutely outstanding, very personable owner and staff. We were the only people in the restaurant and had a wonderful conversation with the owner and later the chef about our delicious meals. Will definitely be coming back, it’s very hard to find such a laid back, relaxing and friendly place to have a meal. Couldn’t compare to another place in noosa, definitely very deserving of 5 stars
The atmosphere of this place was amazing compared to others on the strip. The staff were lovely and attentive making the whole experience great. The drinks menu had a wide variety to choose from and the owner offered advice and recommendations. Great place we will definitely be back.
Dropped in without a reservation as a family of 4. From the first greeting we were inpressed. The food was amazing and was equalled by the service. Definetly the best and standout dining experience of our holiday on the Sunshine Coast. Thank you for makingit a fantastic experience.
