Review Abhi's Indian Restaurant - North Strathfield

Paolo B
Simply delicious Indian food with a modern twist. All the classic flavours and dishes are there but they have been more refined and are all beautifully presented. Couldn’t really fault any of the dishes we had. The chickpea spinach fritters and paneer tikka masala entrees were so tasty. Seafood moily curry, veggie curry, dahl, naan bread, roti all great too. Our young kids loved it all too. Attentive and friendly service. Highly recommend Abhis. We have been a few times and will be back.

Generally as per my experience of indian restaurants in sydney either you can get nice ambience or awesome food. But this experience had an exception when we came to Abhi's. Very lovely, cozy ambience and hands down one of the the most satisfying Indian food we have had. Dishes we tried palak patta chaat, tikka nimbuda, paneer tikka, Hyderabad Murg, garlic naan, veggie pulao and double ka meetha. Couldn't fault a single dish. Everything was just perfect. Hyderabad Murgon, veggie pulao and palak patta chat were the highlights. Great service and very attentive staff. Would recommend it 100 times😄 Thank you Abhi's keep doing what ya doing.

Abhi’s is a Sydney institution and never disappoints. Don’t miss their Palak Patta Chaat, Cocktail Masala Dosa, Aloo Tikki and Ennai Kathrikai. Good service and great for groups. BYO wine only.

This had to be one of the most satiating Indian meals I’ve had at a restaurant. I had a masala dosa & the potato palya stuffing was perfect in taste and portion. My partner had the chilli prawns and scallops - said it was beautifully cooked, very fresh and the chilli was just right. For lunch we ordered the Lunch special - Hyderabadi Lamb Biryani . I will say, this has to be the best Biryani I’ve eaten in a while. The flavours were so perfectly balanced , each grain of rice separate . No over done masala , or heavy feeling after eating it…the lamb pieces were bite sized and cooked to perfection . One of the few times I actually ate the meat too . Dessert, again was awesome . The Rose kulfi is fantastic , you can tell it’s all fresh and made in-house. Compliments to the Chefs there today. And lastly , we had fantastic service from Mr.Praveen who looked after us very well . We used to go to AKI’s often and I really missed it when it shut. And though its the same owner, was unsure if Abhi’s would be as good. Let me just say, if anything , this was even better !

Went here for dinner. Ordered palak patta chaat and chef's special masala paneer tikka which was phenomenal and probably the best paneer tikka I've had in a long time! It had a smoky flavour, was cooked to the right texture which so many get wrong with paneer tikka and the marinade flavours were beautiful so much that it tasted perfect by itself without the chutney accompaniment. With vege mains I wasn't sure what to get as there was not much option that I couldn't cook at home. Got the veg kurma which was nice, but did not taste traditional. We got double ka meetha for dessert and it did not disappoint, far from it! The Rose icecream was delish and had lovely subtle flavours...really well put together. Would recommend entrees and dessert here :-)

Food nice but too salty, tried to celebrate friend's birthday and asked waiters to bring the desert with candle , it was disappointing experience as they put the desert then went back for candle then had to lit it at the table later which took the surprise element.

We drove past Abhi’s on a Thursday night and saw it was packed so decided to try it a few days later. We were not disappointed! Lovely welcoming staff and atmosphere, relatively quick food service and probably the best Indian I’ve ever had. Super tasty, fresh and doesn’t leave you with that overly full feeling. A little more expensive than standard Indian restaurants, but I think the quality reflects that. Highly recommend the prawn and scollop entree. Will definitely be back.

Overprice & little portion for $30 butter chicken (4 pieces of chicken). The decorations & table set up looks nothing like the pictures on the website.

In my humble opinion, I find this place overpriced for Indian food but the flavours are appealing to an Anglo palette. $4 per drinker is obscene for corkage, to my way of thinking. The waitresses were super attentive (almost to the point of being intrusive). $60 per diner for a shared entree, main meal, coffee and shared garlic naan.

The worst Restaurant ever. Over rated, terrible food and poor service. The chef there really needs to know how to cook good. We make better Indian good at home then what they serve. It was such a disappointment going their, spilt our valentines evening. To begin with, entree couldn't be worse then what they served. Alu tikki with some chanas-No flavour, no spices. Mix nonveg platter- the servings were really small. They say it's fine dining, but the table layout was without spoons. Imagine having a curry with a fork. Butter garlic naans were dry and without butter. The haldiram frozen naans are hundred times better then what they have. I could go on about our experience, but to cut it short, I'm never going to go there again nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. It's a shame the way they serve Indian cuisine and charge as if it's the best food you'll ever eat. Chipped bowls and extra salty good with zero presentation and below average standard. You are better off making Indian food at home then going there to eat.

I went to Abhis last night and was extremely impressed by the food and service. We had a king prawn curry and a chicken curry. The king prawn curry had the perfect balance of spice and tanginess whilst the chicken curry was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The garlic naan and the biriyani rice were the perfect accompaniments to soften the spiciness of both curries whilst offering two different textural components . We finished the meal with a mango lassi which cleansed the pallet and left us completely satisfied. The meal cost less then $70 which is reasonable for the quality and portion size of the dishes. Would definitely recommend Abhis to others as its one of the best Indian dinning places in Sydney.
Jane Zgz
The Palak Patta Chaat was nice today, like before. However the naans were very dry and chewy. The lamb biryani was very unimpressive. The meat platter for 3, contained 9 pieces of meat and costed $45!

Absolutely disappointing! Ambience: Despite booking for 3 in advance, was made to sit at a table meant for 2. A table which shouldn't be placed where it was, on the way where I was constantly brushed by wait staff passing by. Rubbish! Food: Chicken curry okay, Kadhai Paneer was a joke! Home-style to the extent that made me regret ordering it in a restaurant. Have never had it so below average, paneer is something most restaurants would get right. Nope, not this one. Despite being v hungry, I was struggling to eat it. Service: We showed our discomfort to the table offered, no resolution. No surprise for guessing nobody bothered for a feedback either, or I didn't have to write it here. Get real guys, hype doesn't bring customers back, good service n great food does.

Great food and staff are very attentive, a bit pricey but worth it!

Just come back from a holiday in northern India and the food at Abhi’s is just as good! It bought me back to being on holidays. Service and food is excellent.

We've been dining at Abhi's for years & the fabulous tasty food (esp entrees) & great service never disappoints! Enjoyed our meal on Sat night with 4 adults & 3 kids (2.5, 3.5 & 5) - the staff were wonderful to the kids & wouldn't eat elsewhere for Indian.
Sareeta Nand-Singh
Loved the Palak Patta chaat. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Visited this restaurant twice as we wanted to try other items on the menu
Anna Andriani-Minervini
I've experienced that amazing flavours of Abhi's many time and never disappointed - only place I will go to eat Indian.
Janine Oxley
Was visiting from the Gold Coast and dined here for my birthday, with family and friends. We had the most beautiful, unique, flavorsome food I have ever had. We had the banquet and absolutely loved all the different courses, especially entree's. And our waiter for the night stood by and was at our beck and call. Will definitely be back when visiting Syd again. Thank you for an enjoyable birthday.
Stefan Boissezon
The curries were delicious ; beautiful flavours , the service was fantastic and prompt , I would definitely go back there .

Great food great service and great atmosphere, will be back again

Good food .. though place a bit noisy when full up...but worth it for the taste of India

Food was excellent. We had a banquet for 6. There was heaps of food and a wonderful variety. Service was excellent, very efficient and happy staff.

Pleasant atmosphere Delicious food n overall service was pretty good
Lisafoodadventures
Delicious Food!

The fried spinach dish is nicer than it sounds, can recommend this dish along with with papadums and the dips you can have with them.

Service however is a bit lacking (I had to walk up to the kitchen) and too many seats cramped makes the experience more noisy. Perhaps in quieter times this place would be more of a pleasant experience.
Kriti
Had visited a while ago after much hyped reviews from friends but to be honest it was a let down. The food is a bit over priced and the service was not that great. The food was okayish.
Kimi
Great service!
I love garlic naan!

Pros:
• service is friendly;
• good vibes in the restaurant;
• GOA fish had excellent flavor and texture;
• Beef pretty good but not special;

Cons:
• Butter Chicken meat was dry, flavor rather mild;
• wait time too long (approx 30mins for mains);
• portions! come on...
*Entree “Spicy Prawns and Scallops” $19.8, u get 4 small frozen prawn cutlets, 2 pieces regular size scallops;
*Main GOA Fish @$29.8 contains 3 pieces of fish, each piece size about a chicken nugget is ridiculous.
• fine dining with plastic chairs?

Overall:
Below par for this standard, wouldn’t visit again.
What strikes me first stepping in here is the friendly and warm service.

As much as i wanted the keema dosa (reccommended by a friend to me), i went for the fish curry and boyfriend got the chicken Makhni, which we later found ot it was butter chicken :p the fish was a bit mushy and fishy, but the chicken was very smokey and juicy.

The food is flavourful, aromatic and comes in good portion. Although the price point is a bit high, the vibe and experience is good.

There are definitely other things we want to try on the menu, and we will return :)
Andrew C
Really good Indian fine dining restaurant. Some unique menu items that were on the upmarket side (and priced accordingly). Good friendly service. Unfortunately for me, virtually all of the menu items are moderately spicy, so not so great for kids who can't handle chili. There is a spacious upstairs section and some interesting decor

Staff is nice, ambience pretty nice. This is a cozy place in north strathfield and the only way is to reach by a car.
Food is good for an indian foodie like me. The naan is real good while for the curries they are a bit mild.
We ordered kadhai paneer and butter chicken and they were nice. We will make a second visit for sure.
Rosa Shao
Very good service and super nice food. Highly recommend the goat curry, top notch. Naan is so nice and soft. Deserves more attention for sure. Definitely gonna come back very soon.

I have eaten there thrice now. Heading next time with some mates, love the food, customer service and wine list. Riesling by the class is amazing. Chiken tikka with mint chutney is highly recommended.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
It’s hard to believe that three years have passed since I was at Abhi’s Indian celebrating their first quarter century. The restaurant is still as popular as ever, both with North Strathfield locals and blow-ins like me, who consider Kumar Mahadevan’s inspired Indian dishes worth the trip. The highlight of this visit was a Seafood Moily ($27.80) from the Kerala region of Southern India. Beautifully cooked scallops join ling fillets and prawns in a soupy golden coconut curry flavoured with turmeric, fresh curry leaves and whole mustard seeds that pop on your tongue. It’s savoury and compelling particularly over Kashmiri Pilau ($3.80) dotted with dried fruit and nuts. Rice at Abhi’s is served individually, and the serves really are predicated upon you actually needing a bowl each, so we added on a Plain Rice ($3.50) to eat with our second curry. Ennai Kathrikai ($19.80) is...

We have eaten at Abhis twice now and both times did not disappoint. Great customer service, excellent food and a lively atmosphere. Can’t wait to our next visit.

We have been going to Abhi's since the last 10 years and we have seen the quality and quantity of the dishes slide down the graph so much that we would not prefer to waste our time and money by visiting this restaurant again. Two weeks ago we ordered Beef Ambotik and quantity was a joke, it came in a small bowl in a first place and that bowl three very small beef pieces with minimal curry. They are getting greedy day by day by using different size bowl for different dishes and quantity is the biggest concern and its look like it has been done on purpose to make profit so people order more. Don't recommend going there at all.

For a table of 3 we ordered the salt and pepper calamari, the butter chicken, the lam biryani and also some naan bread.

The salt and pepper calamari was so soft and tender, but with a crispy coating. The calamari on its own is delicious but their accompanying sauce adds a lovely hit of spice.

The butter chicken is always a winner and we love scooping up the gravy with their naan bread. The naan bread felt quite dense unfortunately.

The lamb biryani was not bad but probably not a must order compared with biryani elsewhere. Those who prefer milder levels of spice may find it has too much heat, do enjoy with the accompanying raita.

Overall it was a very filling and satisfying meal, service was great. I would like to return to try other dishes in the future, including their dosa.

Abhi is in the Entertainment book where you'll get one complimentary main with another main ordered. It also takes part in the Dimmi promotion with Amex.

Orders weekend special lamp briyani and masala dosa. Both are upto the point and taste delicious. Briyani is spicy but still not very hot. Dosa chutneys are something I will go again.

In the deserts we order kulfi which was way too sweet and taste ok ok. Only reason I have given 4 star.

Will go again!!!!!

Food just average, not very topical Indian food..... we 3 ppl order 3dishes pls 4 bread and they are just making us waiting for more den 30mins. Maybe expecting too much from this famous restaurant. But won’t go for it again.

Went to Abhi's because of high ratings, but felt really disappointed as everything about it was average. Food, service, location, ambience everything.

They offered me seat on first floor even when I was with a pram.
Order took a lot of time and the portion size was really small and normally once the order is on table extra bread wouldn't and shouldn't take too long but they almost took 20 min even when I ordered it as soon as I got my order. Spices were mild and taste was average, I thought dessert will be saviour but it was too sweet for comfort. One can get much better food at half of the price.

Wondering if the current ratings are genuine or the restaurant was really good at one point of time but not anymore.

We tried this place on a Saturday evening. It had a nice ambience and there were couples and families dining there. The food is some of the best Indian food that we've had in Sydney with a nice balance of spices. Service was very efficient. We will be going back.
Arpita Debray
one of the best Indian restaurants. fantastic food . space is a problem as very small and always crowded. tried their new fusion platter of entrees. Delicious.

Abhi’s is an elegant restaurant in North Strathfield which serves an assortment of watered-down, insipid Indian fare. According to SMH Good Food, Abhi’s is a must-try Indian restaurant. I have lived in India for nearly a year but have never tried or seen such wimpy rendition of the great Indian cuisine.

I ordered three dishes, the goa fish curry, basmati rice and Tandoori chicken. First, The basmati rice was unevenly mixed with patches of white. Second, the fish curry was so insipid. The delicious Goan fish curry is a bouquet of flavours. Here, the barramundi was overcooked and stale and pieces of the fish were detached. The curry comprised more tamarind than goa chilli, garlic and turmeric.

Last, the Tandoori Chicken contains more tenderiser than necessary. The chicken could be fresher too.

Have the judges from Good Food tried any good and authentic Indian food before?

The last time we were there it was a work dinner so we had the banquet menu. We liked the food but for some reason never went back.

For entree we had the palak papdi chaat. It's traditionally a plain papdi but the addition of spinach in this was great. It's on the sweeter side because of the yogurt and sweet date sauce. We also had the aloo bhajis which are potato which is deep fried in a batter and the sheek kababs. The Lamb was cooked extremely well.

For mains we went for the panner, the chole (chickpeas) and a southern style chicken with an assortment of breads. The chicken was ok a bit dry. The other vegetarian mains were alright. Though the portion size was a bit small for the mains.

Dessert we had the rose pistachio kulfi. The kulfi itself was beautiful way too much rose flavour. Again I have never been a fan of rose flavour.

Overall excellent entrée, average mains and desserts.

I'd say this is more catered to the western palate. As a regular to Indian food and restaurants, the dishes here lack all the basic flavours and spices. We left half our dishes uneaten because it was so bad. The only thing we loved was the dessert. Wouldn't visit again or recommend to anyone.

If you're a vegetarian and you crave Indian food, this place isn't the best option for you. Firstly, the only way to get here is by car. You will have to walk a lot from the nearest station. The food is very expensive and doesn't have the same flavour or spices you'd expect in Indian food. There is barely any options for vegetarian and the buffet menu requires a minimum of 4 people and cost between $35-45.

Amazing place to have authentic Indian food. The ambience is also quiet amazing along with their selection of wines. A must try is the chicken nimbuda which was cooked to perfection. The deserts were of perfect portion size and the taste of it was mind blowing. Whoever wishes to have authentic and tasty Indian food do not hesitate to visit this place.

Had a failed Indian experience last night so decided to give it a go at Abhi's. Omg so good. Everything was on par! Delicious everything from dosa to curries and the amazing garlic nan, just yum. Service was impeccable. Would have received a 5 if the spicy dishes had a little more heat. I like it hot. Will return with friends. Delicious!

Caters for the Western palate when it comes to the flavour and spices. Limited dishes... Some as an attempt at fusion. Good service and very fresh food

Located on Concord Road, this restaurant is nestled among a group of restaurants clustered here. This is a more refined Indian restaurant with meals presented beautifully and the flavours were awesome.

The service here is top notch. They were very welcoming and had our water glasses topped up at all times. Nothing was too much for them.

We tried a nice selection of mains including Mixed Tandoori Platter, Beef Ambotik, Chicken Makhni, and Kadhi Paneer. The platter had a selection of chicken and lamb. Meats were tender and nice flavourings. The beef had the right amount of spicy kick to it without burning your mouth. Both the chicken and paneer had fantastic sauces which went well with the rice and naan we ordered.

Overall well worth a visit if you're in the area. It exceeded our expectations of a typical local Indian restaurant.

Very exceptional Indian cuisine with high standard and high price but they usually always leave you feeling satisfied. my go to for those amazing hot curries and home made naan !
Dr. MK
Went there after several people recommended it. My wife and I had bhaji rolls, chilli prawns and scallops, kadhi pander, chicken makhni rose kulfi. Everything was clean and tasted superb. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Chicken makhni is similar to butter chicken, chicken tasted amazing and the sauce was naturally sweet, not too sweet (no added sugar like other Indian restaurants) the rose kulfi was amazing, packed with flavor and is a must if you go there.

My favorite Indian place by a million miles. The service is great and the food is even better. I have been here on many occasions (mostly because I craved for good indian food). Our go-to dishes are Bhaji Rolls (crispy light pastry filled with potatoes, onions and vegetables), Mixed Tandoori Platter (grilled chicken, kebab and lamb chop) and Chicken Makhni curry with naan on the side *drools* I could eat this everyday. Highly recommend booking a table if you're going on busy nights.

$180 for 3 - bhaji rolls, rice, 3 naans, 2 curries, tandoori platter, pappadums and a bottle of wine

Was excited to come here because of the many recommendations made online. The food was generally good - however, the butter chicken was disappointing as it was too tart. What was even more disappointing was the way we were treated when we had to pay the bill. The waitress who brought us the eftpos machine was impatient and incredibly rude, demonstrated when she loudly and on many occasions, scolded us for pressing the wrong buttons and accidentally cancelling the transaction. This awful and humiliating experience completely made us forgot about the food itself (pity) and we vowed never to come back.

Visited Abhis restaurant for lunch. Tried Paneer masala Dal Makhni. Good food good service. Decor of the restaurant is good too....a typical yet outstanding wall paper.

This place was a recommendation from a friend, she said it has really good indian food with none of the stigma you usually gear attached to it.

It did not disappoint, the food was excellent, presented beautifully, the service friendly and attentive.

We ordered off the menu, 2 entrees and 3 mains, plus 1 dessert for 4 people. This took us to just above our full point.

The waiter did get our order wrong twice, but he was friendly and corrected it, the second wrong item (naan instead of roti), we decided to just keep, it was still delicious, thin and crispy with lots of garlic. We think he was trying to remember our whole order, but perhaps it would've been better to write it down, or repeat it back to us.

The price came to approximately 40pp, within expectation, as they advertise as "fine dining".
Princess Greedy Guts
I don't have Indian food all that much and when I crave it, this is the only place I go to. Not only is the restaurant clean & modern, the staff inviting & helpful but the food... authentic I am told by Indian friends, it is damn tasty & not as heavy as Indian food you will find elsewhere, which is good as you want to order more to try and share. There has not been a bad dish here but highlights are the theatrical roti, crisp chickpea flour batter spinach & crab cakes to start, the goa fish curry, butter chicken & goat curries are all phenomenal as are their naans & flakey paratha. Add a delicious kulfi to help with the spice & heat & finish off with aromatic desserts.
Jojo
Good food and great customer service. Worth the drive all the way to north Strathfield :) love the ambience and food presentation! Well done guys! :)

By far this place is the best that I have come across in Sydney for Indian cuisine. The menu is small, but the chef takes care of that with churning out the most accurate delicacies. Kudos to the flavours and the taste. May need to put up some more vegetarian mains to the menu, but that's completely optional. Will I visit again - hell yes!
Onara
One look at the menu at Abhi's (and at Aki's in Woolloomooloo too) will tell you this is no ordinary Indian restaurant. Elegant, delicate, complex, delicious

Located on concord road ... I have driven down this road so menu times but i never noticed this place. The food is fabulous here and the fitout inside looks great. Customer service is very attentive and I highly recommend this place.
Amrit A Pai
One of the greatest restaurant for indian cuisine. After a long time I ate indian food and it was wonderful experience. Tikka nimbuda and crab undrai was awsuum and delicious. The foods were marinated nicely and I could realise the taste of each and every bite and that too with on the rocks..Aussies should visit once..cheers

Worst Indian cuisine I have ever tasted in my life. Even giving 1 star is too much for a restaurant like that. I paid $210 for 5 people and left with half the food not even eaten.
To start with the entree aloo tikki- just by putting few chanas in the dish it's not going to elevate it. Unflavoured, unsalted and not even any chutney in it.
Nimbuda tandoori: decent but quantity is too less for 22bucks
3 main courses
Patiala goat curry: smelly goat. No salt uncooked meat.
Kadhai paneer: decent but considering I'm Indian I know how many flavours it was lacking in. Kadhai paneer is meant to have capsicum and red onions cubed and big in size, coriander seeds and fenugreek leaves and it didn't have most of it
Chicken makhani: worse chicken dish ever. No cream, no flavour, no butter. Like how can someone go wrong with just a tomato flavoured dish. I do not understand that.
I can cook 200 times better than that even with my eyes closed.
I paid $210 as my bill. I might as well have paid all that to Someone on the street, so that he could have used it in a better way.
When i confronted the manager about the food, he said no one complains about my chef as he knows better about food than me, which I highly doubt.

I RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO NO ONE, LITERALLY NO ONE AS IT IS THE WORST INDIAN CUSINE ONE COULD EVER HAVE.

Upon arrival at Abhi’s for their 25th birthday, we were warmly welcomed to our table with a celebratory glass of champagne. How else do you start a birthday celebration? Cheers!New to this restaurant, we could see that many of the diners around us were not. All of the restaurant’s 180 seats were filled with regular clientele and they were all there to celebrate this momentous occasion. We could see that patrons were not just patrons they were treated like part of family. There's no better way to celebrate your 25th birthday than having a three day celebration. Abhi's Indian Restaurant knows how to celebrate this milestone and in this volatile restaurant market, and we can see why they’ve been in business for 25 years.

Abhis Indian is considered by many in Sydney as one of the best Indian restaurants in the city and is the sister restaurant of Akis at Woolloomooloo which has been awarded a coveted chefs hat, both are named after Chef Kumar’s two sons – though arguably Aki got the better deal :)
I Ate My Way Through
Founded by chef Kumar Mahadevan, Abhi’s Indian (named after his son Abhinav) at North Strathfield has been setting the benchmark for Indian cuisine in Sydney since 1990. The family also run Aki’s Indian at Woolloomooloo, a fancier, more refined experience, named after his second son, Akilesh. Over the years, Kumar’s commitment to regional Indian cooking has been showcased through menus featuring wheat-based breads and tandoori flavours of the north, string hoppers and dosa of the south (Kumar’s native region) and seafood dishes from India’s west coast. As Kumar himself says on his website, “drawing on influences from the major food regions of India, the dishes use only the best local produce and combine classical traditional recipes with a modern interpretation creating a true culinary experience”. It’s no wonder the restaurants have become so highly regarded by the Indian community and local Sydneysiders.

Amazingly nice quaint restaurant. The lemn murgh/chicken tikka is so beautiful. The breads are so soft and yum. We had ordered goat curry and Dal makhni. Both were well prepared. Beautiful flavors and good ambience

Services at Mothers day!. Subject: : Services at Mother’s day!
Date: Tue, 12 May 2015 04:33:14 +0000

Hi,
Our family of 5 came to your restaurant for Mother’s day lunch on Sunday. My daughter Dr Suseendran booked your restaurant as she heard good reviews and wanted to give her mother a special lunch.
We ordered a banquet for 4 of us. I am a vegetarian and my daughter advised to order a separate meal for me as I have diet restrictions due to my health issues.
I mentioned this to your waitress and ordered for a separate meal – vege patties , for main Kadai paneer and 2 x naan breads even though I m not a big eater, I orded 3 separate dishes as it was a special day and I was looking forward to attending your restaurant for the first time.

When the food was served to our table we had the palak chaat entree and the 4 of them served themselves and my daughter put a small piece on my plate to taste. Your waitress came running over and singled me out in front of every one and told that I am not allowed to touch that or she will charge me another banquet on our bill.
What an embarrassment in front of other people in the restaurant. My 2nd daughter (who is also a doctor) had tears in her eyes and she about to leave your restaurant. We did not mind to order another banquet for myself as I am not a big eater and I do not want to waste the food as I am in a diet.

We have eaten at so many restaurants and I could not believe this happened to us especially on Mother’s day over 1 small tasting of a chaat.
If I did not order any food for myself then what your waitress did is understandable. At the end of the day we all ordered our own dishes is I don't see what the problem is??
what was supposed to be a special mother's day turned out nothing but humiliating as you do not know how to treat your customers.
In the future, I will not be coming to this restaurant and not recommending this restaurant to our friends. I will make sure that all my friends , family and colleagues know how poorly you treat your customer.
I am appalled with your customer services.

Please do not treat your other customers like this. I have never been treated this way.

This massage is also going to the facebook.

Mrs Nagarajah

Dinner at Abhi's Indian Restaurant... -- The Food -- Weekend Biriyani Special -- (Lamb stewed with fresh tomatoes, onions, green chillies, ginger, yoghurt and browned garam masala and oven cooked with basmati rice) Extremely fragrant dish. The spices are well balanced and green chillies definitely gives this dish a kick. The spiciness is relieved by the yoghurt. The lamb is tender and flavourful. Really enjoyed this dish! Methi Murg -- (Traditional Punjabi chicken dish cooked with dried fenugreek leaves, onions, tumeric ginger, garlic and fresh green chilli) Another amazing dish. Full of well balanced flavours. Sauce goes so well with the rice! Chicken was tender. Polished off this dish (even the sauce!) Really enjoyed the above 2 dishes. I've tried their other curries and are also very tasty. Will be back for more!

Opening up the menu we find a plethora of exotic dishes, all listed in Indian with mouth-watering descriptions under each item. An eggplant and banana chilli curry is enriched with all kinds of nuts - coconut, peanut, cashew and ground sesame. Goa Fish Curry features Barramundi fillets which are cooked to a silky softness in a vibrant orange curry of tumeric, coriander seeds and cumin. The crowd pleaser Butter Chicken arrives in a deceivingly small bowl, revealing a generous serving of tender tandoor- roasted chicken pieces, taken off the skewer and swimming in a deep orange sauce of tomato, fenugreek and cream; its smooth and subtle with a tang of sweet and one of the mildest curries on the menu. Of course you can't have an Indian meal without the quintessential naan bread. Each serve is cut in two and is soft and chewy, covered in charred garlic dots and spots of coriander.

I always take a note of what my friends recommend. They’re my homies; it’s unlikely that they put their stamps of approval on something they don’t like. However, never forget that all of this is subjective. That’s one of the things I learnt from a random philosophy course I did in my second year of university along with many philosophy majors dislike shaving. So, I keep tabs as to which of my friends have the same taste as I do and which ones rather watch Big Bang Theory over Community. Here’s a place I went to with a couple of homies who know that the Big Bang Theory is the most fraudulent portrayal of ‘nerd’ life of all time. There are very few constants in my life; here are three: - Anna Kendrick being adorable - LeBron James dominating a game seemingly at ease - Indian food not disappointing me. About that last one. I’ve had bad Thai (pun intended), I’ve had Crapanese and I’ve had don’t eat-alian but I’ve never had bad Indian. Yet, here I was at a place I had never been to being gu

Indian is a very popular cuisine but some would argue is hard to find quality Indian. This was the highest rated Indian restaurant in North Strathfield so how was my experience? All the food was very high quality and tasty and while I'm no expert on the topic of Indian food; it was a nice dance on the tastebuds. I don't think it quite rivals some of the food i've tried in Harris Park but the atmosphere, customer service and experience was of a higher quality. Prices: About $20 per main The entree was amazing and was a special. I would strongly suggest asking for recommendations from the staff if you are not an expert. It was a mini burst of flavoursome, yoghurty texture with that papadum-like crunch on the outside. The two curries that we ordered were quite nice and were well accompanied with the rice and naan. The dessert was an indian cheesecake and my dinner date thought it was really unique and tasty. I personally am addicted to the American style cheesecake that I probably di

Abhi’s is fantastic. First impressions: a lot pricier than your average ‘home cooking’ style neighbourhood Indian – but lovely modern decor, and lovely service.
The only thing that ‘pops’ in the entire restaurant (at first glance, anyway) is the gently shimmering metallic paisley wall, which is undeniably a statement piece. This daring choice of wallpaper is complemented by the most understated pieces, such as dark suede chairs and plain white china. I say “at first glance”, b

After we finished the entree and the plate was cleared away, we found ourselves waiting a long time for the rest of the meal came out. After a while, we started to look at our watches and the other tables around us - who also didn't have any food on the table.

We both loved our meal at Abhi's, which suddenly made all the other Indian places that we've been to in Sydney seem a little 'home-style' compared to Abhi's polished and sophisticated dishes.

The overall ambiance is nice and somewhat exotic with the dim lighting and the cultural music playing in the background. People are chattering away w

There's a happy sense of joy about snapping the thin crisp disc of pappadum into jagged shards, surveying the little pots of cucumber and yoghurt raita, mango chutney and tomato and onion kachumber set in front of you. The biggest decision is which one to

Compared to the no-frills suggestion of a high school friend, Ahbi’s is in many ways on the opposite end of the dining spectrum. Take the ambiance illustrated in the first shot. There is an air of high class and intimacy that would require the detective s

The lamb was really nice and tender. I also loved the prawn and scallop curry.

Expensive for a rather poor ambience!. Post-exam dinner, five eaters headed to Abhi's, having heard good reports from family and friends. There are lots of things to like about this place. One is that both north and south India is represented - there are dishes other than lamb saag and butter chicken, if you would like to venture further than the usual Indian takeaway/fast food options. The wait staff are very professional and attentive, and the service was prompt. Our best dish out of our order was Kulfi (dessert), albeit a bit on the sweeter side.

There are also a couple of problems. The noise was such that we were shouting across the table to hear each other (even though the people at the other tables were not rowdy or anything). Incidentally the table was too small for the 5 of us, we had to keep shuffling to make space for the dishes. (And still we couldn't hear each other!) The second was the small menu, we had difficulty choosing 3 entrées. Now probably I and my dining companions are spoilt by having been to India and eaten the food there, and it did grate having to pay $42 for aloo tikki chaat (potato cakes with chickpeas in spicy gravy) for 5 people (one aloo tikki each), when in India it's a cheap snack that costs around $1 a pop.

Priced as a higher end restaurant, the ambience was not there.
Don't go here on a Friday or Saturday for a first date.
Did not top our favourite Indian restaurant, which happens to be quite nearby.

Abhi's. One of the best Indian restaurants in Sydney, however the portion sizes are quite small. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Very average food, curry was watery thin and Paneer was hard ! Even a takeaway outlet can do better than that !! Tried this place twice and both times it had been consistently non appealing.

Update, even better.

Nice atmosphere, interesting wall paper, excellent service, very nice food. Elegant dining, more refined than usual for Indian restaurant that I have experiences, would return.

Famille. A his doesn't cut it., The decor is nice, the food is average at best, seems mass produced with no flair or genuine interest in its preparation.. Not returning.

Great taste, great service and great value. I went to Abhis last weekend. There were 4 of us so we were able to order the banquet. We ordered banquet number 2. My oh my, what a feast of flavours! The food came out at a suitable pace, the variety was astounding - there was a party going on in my mouth with all of the flavours. There were a couple of dishes that were hot, but there is lots of yoghurt around to help with that. I couldn't fault the service. The staff looked genuinely happy to work there as well as being happy to serve their customers. It's BYO which is saving in itself, but when the bill came I was very pleasantly surprised. This is definitely a keeper!

One of the best indian restaurant i've been to. It waa a bit pricey but waa worth it :-)

Very tasty, delicious food. Comfortable atmosphere and great service. Unfortunately, the dish sizes are way too small for the exorbitant prices. charged.

Terrible experience. We had a booking and they tried to place us right next to the men's toilet, once we protested they offered us another table, but the new table was right under a very cold air conditioner vent. The food was average, I have had better in cheaper places. it was expensive, not suitable for families (all meals were very hot for kids), we had to wait very long for meals and service was average. at the end of our meal we asked the waiter to put leftovers in a take away container and he never bothered. hated this place, they only interested in taking your money.

Beautiful Mango Lassi and Palak Patta Chat :) You can try their home made Rose Petal Jam as mouth freshner. Just ask the waiter nicely and it will be given unto you.

Abhi is quite nicely furnished however the food not so. I felt that the food was not that of standard of the price. I felt the food came out of a can. The chicken makhni (supposedly butter chicken) tasted bland and too sweet. The lamb korma wasn't spicy nor did it taste like what it should have. The lamb cutlets were overcooked and low quality meat. The portion sizes were small and the naans were too burnt and cold. It seemed the food had been reheated and unfortunately it had been in adequately done so. It was cold and tasted funny.

Would not go there again. It's a great place if you have no taste buds and money to blow on terrible food.
The waitress kept interrupting our conversations with refilling water. It was frustrating it happened over four times.
Yours truly an Indian.
Meagan_s84
Expensive for what you are getting plus it took SO LONG for our food to come out.. this restaurant used to be great but the quality of food has really declined.. won't be going back.

Have prawn curry and lamb cutlets, garlic nan, very nice, drinks are a bit overpriced, will BYO next time

Hit and miss. Went for dinner - had the mixed tandoori platter, a vegetarian potato/pumpkin dish, etc. It was OK - not terribly exciting or exceptional.
The veggie dish was on the bland side, not much to it - lots of sauce with a few peas and a half dozen chunks of potato and pumpkin. The tandoori lamb chop was perfect but the chicken a bit dry, and the kebab resembled a spicy but very over cooked snag.
The other accompaniments - side dish platter of three dishes - raita,
tomato/cucumber and a hot chili pickle , and naans were fine.
Service was excellent - very attentive and friendly.
I will return to try different mains - I imagine it could make a big difference, as the menu was varied and fairly reasonably
priced.

Indian food. This is one of those few indian restaurants that i have been going to regularly. The food here is good, highly recommend the goat curry but will have to admit that the food here is very pricey for our family. So i only go this restaurant if there on certain events.

Awesome food. I had the Goa fish curry which was absolutely delectable. Best fish curry I have had and I have been to many restaurants. Also their desert was amazing. We were very satisfied. Expensive restaurant but worth it in my opinion. We live nearby so ordered as take-away.

Ummm...... Been here twice, the first time was average, this time was slightly better
The food is expensive, we wanted crab cakes for everyone at the table and its a small piece and its somehow $10 each!!
There was nothing that stood out for me,i like the ambience, service was good and its a popular place but its not a place I will be back too anytime soon, not for me

-----17 Dec, 2012-----

Ummm..... My girlfriend really liked this place, i thought it was pretty average. On a weeknight it was pretty busy. Had lamb korma, which wasnt as sweet as i expected it to be. Not your standard suburban Indian (this is a good thing). Have been to Aki's and had a great meal at Abhi's. Food is more expensive than your standard suburban Indian, but the service is polished and the food is of high standard. BYO with a bottle shop few doors down is another plus. Staff are very friendly, if I was in the area would definitely return.

Used entertainment card, up market Indian with a depth and complexity of spices and flavours. Had the tandoor swordfish and lamb saagwala (bit too spicy for me!). Would really like to try their curry and other house specials next time!

Terrible food very poor service and will never go there again!

A bit overpriced for what you get. Had a hilarious bout of gastroenteritis after dinner. Perhaps it's just a once off but once is enough.

Rude Attitute towards kids. We heard that food is good, so went there. Restaurant was packed, everyone seems to be so busy discussing their day. We were served food but just in the middle , were told to leave and that they will pack-away our dishes, the reason being my kids were causing inconvenience to all the customers. We were sitting not in the middle but in a corner, my son(6yrs) got up once to use the toilet and I was helping my daughter to eat as she is just 2yrs old. The noises from other customers were more laouder than the the noise we were making while having our food.
They should have sign at the entree"KIDS NOT STRICTLY ALLOWED"

Not really Indian. Been here once for dinner via the entertainment book voucher, glad we got a discount otherwise we would've been rather disappointed with going there. Overpriced and Indian that wasn't traditional nor spicy enough for my liking.

Tonight's meal. Tonight was my first at Abhi's. The crab cakes were very nice. We also had a goat curry and a barramundi curry. Both were excellent. Along with rice and naan the meal was both filling and tasty. I would highly recommend this place.
